    Opis:
    The aim of the study was to examine individual quality of red deer males occurring in the Dulowa Forest (S Poland). Carcass weight as well as form and weight of antlers were the main criteria. Analysed deer characterized with good quality of the inter−individual, as shown by the higher (or similar) average carcass and antlers weight compared to the individuals hunted in other regions. In addition high quality of the inter−individual demonstrated by the fact that 17,4% deer had antlers with a medal. The maximum average weight of antlers (7.29 kg) was observed for thirteen−years−old animals, while the culmination of carcass weight (159.8 kg) occurred for twelve−years−old individuals. Weight of the antlers was significantly correlated with age (r=0.88), carcass weight (r=0.84) and form of antlers (r=0.79).

    Opis:
    The aim of the study was to determine the abundance of winter food of cervids and the capacity of the Game Breeding Centre 'Krystyna' administered by the Kluczbork Forest District (southern Poland). Research was based on the estimation of shoots available for cervids in winter time. Evaluation of annual increment of biomass was calculated on 160 circular plots, on which occurrence of trees and shrubs species was estimated (tab. 1). We assumed that the cervids cause 20% loss of growth of shoots for forest species and 90% for other species. Among the 4296 examined trees or shrubs we identified 15 deciduous and 4 coniferous species (tab. 2). The estimation of the potential food for cervids showed a significant variation depending on the species. Among the conifers, the largest total weight of shoots was observed for spruce and pine, while among the deciduous species, the largest reserves of shoots were noted for hornbeam, birch, beech and mountain ash (fig. 2). The so called secure resources amounts to approximately 8 t/1000 ha, which accounted for 35% of the total stock of shoots up to 2 m above the ground. The most food was offered by spruce and pine (over 2.5 t/1000 ha), and hornbeam, mountain ash, black cherry, birch, beech and alder buckthorn (fig. 4). Based on the calculated mass of the shoots possible to eat by deer without threat of the economic damage, we calculated capacity of the forest hunting grounds using two variants of the winter (short and long), and three variants of share the shoots in the diet. The obtained capacity amounted to on average from 120 to 144 deer/1000 ha during short winter or from 103 to 123 deer during the long winter. These results point to the urgent need to objectify the existing rules for determining allowable density of deer at the local level.

    The aim of the study was to recognize the extent of damage caused by bisons in the Bieszczady forests and to determine their food preferences based on recorded damage to trees and shrubs. Damage (bark−stripping, browsing) to forest stands in the Bieszczady mountains caused by bisons were insignificant. The European ash was the species particularly threatened by bisons (almost all trees were damaged).

    Celem przeprowadzonych badań była analiza wyników oceny fenotypowej szynszyli w różnym wieku oraz określenie wzajemnych współzależności między tymi cechami. Badania przeprowadzono na pięciu różnych fermach w województwie kujawsko-pomorskim. Dokonano analizy wyników oceny pokroju 1493 szynszyli odmiany standard. Stwierdzono, że badana populacja charakteryzowała się doskonałymi wynikami odnośnie do wielkości i budowy zwierzęcia (75% populacji) oraz pasa brzusznego (91% populacji). Najsłabsze wyniki odnotowano za cechę typ barwny; tylko 0,35% osobników uzyskało punktację wzorcową. Zaobserwowano dodatnie istotne korelacje między wiekiem zwierząt a oceną za poszczególne cechy pokroju. Najwyższy współczynnik odnotowano dla typu barwnego (rxy=0,17**). Wykazano również wzajemną interakcję pomiędzy poszczególnymi cechami pokroju. Stwierdzono, że wysoka ocena uzyskana za wielkość i budowę zwierzęcia ujemnie wpływa na wyniki otrzymane za typ barwny (rxy=−0,06**). W pozostałych przypadkach wystąpiła korelacja dodatnia.
    The aim of the research was to analyze the results of a phenotypic assessment of chinchillas from various breeding farms located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province and to determine the impact of age on the animals’ final scores for individual traits as well as the mutual relationship between the analyzed traits. The research was conducted in five different breeding farms in the Kuyavian- Pomeranian Province and involved an analysis of 1493 standard breed chinchillas. Research showed that the examined population exhibited excellent results pertaining to size and conformation (75% of the population) as well as the belly (91% of the population). The lowest results were obtained by chinchillas in the hue category – only 0.35% of the population received pattern results. A positive, significant correlation was found between the age of animals and their score for individual traits of conformation. The highest correlation coefficient was recorded for hue type (rxy=0.165**). There was also a relationship between the individual traits. The research showed that a high score for size and conformation negatively affected the score for hue type (rxy=–0.06**). In the remaining cases, the correlation was positive.

    With the help of the research results presented here and on the basis of a graphic analysis we aim to prove the existence of a relationship between the difference in prismatic refractive power and the thickness, curvature radius, and type of material used for panoramic oculars in protective spectacles, goggles, and face shields. The difference in the prismatic refractive power is a fundamental optical characteristic of a protective ocular without corrective effect. According to Standard No. EN 165:1995 (European Committee for Standardization, 1995) the difference in the prismatic refractive power is a difference in the prismatic effect at 2 observation points of an eye-protector.

In the analyses, the silvicultural−game management plans for the years 1996−2005 were used.

    Artykuł porusza zagadnienie kompleksowej automatyzacji i monitorowania sieci średniego napięcia (SN) jako kluczowego elementu koncepcji sieci inteligentnej (ang. Smart Grid). Omówiono stan istniejący w zakresie sterowania i monitorowania sieci SN oraz przedstawiono koncepcję rozwiązania dającego możliwość zdalnej, automatycznej rekonfiguracji sieci oraz zapewniającego pełną obserwowalność sieci z poziomu systemu dyspozytorskiego. Szczegółowo omówiono automatyzację przełączeń w sieci SN w celu wyizolowania uszkodzonego odcinka linii i zasilenia w energię elektryczną w chwili wystąpienia awarii możliwie największej liczby odbiorców. Przedstawiono również przykład działania takiej automatyki. W drugiej części artykułu zaprezentowano kluczową rolę funkcji szybkiej lokalizacji miejsca zwarcia oraz możliwości zdalnej rekonfiguracji sieci SN w celu poprawy niezawodności zasilania (poprawy wskaźników SAIDI, SAIFI). Pokazano również, jak wzrost liczby punktów wyposażonych w układy wykrywające przepływ prądów zwarciowych wraz z możliwością zdalnego sterowania łącznikami z systemu dyspozytorskiego w sieci SN może wpłynąć na zmniejszenie wskaźników SAIDI i SAIFI w poszczególnych oddziałach Energa -Operator SA.
    The paper presents the issue of comprehensive automation and monitoring of medium voltage (MV) grids as a key element of the Smart Grid concept. The existing condition of MV grid control and monitoring is discussed, and the concept of a solution which will provide the possibility of remote automatic grid reconfiguration and ensure full grid observability from the dispatching system level is introduced. Automation of MV grid switching is discussed in detail to isolate a faulty line section and supply electricity at the time of the failure to the largest possible number of recipients. An example of such automation controls’ operation is also presented. The paper’s second part presents the key role of the quick fault location function and the possibility of the MV grid’s remote reconfiguration for improving power supply reliability (SAIDI and SAIFI indices). It is also shown how an increase in the number of points fitted with faulted circuit indicators with the option of remote control of switches from the dispatch system in MV grids may affect reduction of SAIDI and SAIFI indices across ENERGA-OPERATOR SA. divisions.

    The paper deals with the problem of creating a knowledge database on system dependability and resilience, created on the basis of available system and application logs. Special to ols to collect and analyse these data from many systems have been developed. Taking into account a wide spectrum of various logs we explore them locally and globally. This allowed for identification of characteristics of normal operation and anomalous behaviour. A lot of attention is paid to the problem of selecting measures to identify symptoms characterising system operation and their usefulness in dependability and resilience evaluation or prediction. The concepts presented are illustrated with experience gained during monitoring of real systems.

    Niezabezpieczone odpowiednio urządzenia i podzespoły elektroniczne, w których znajdują się układy scalone ulegają bezpowrotnemu zniszczeniu pod wpływem wysokomocowych impulsów elektromagnetycznych - HPM [1]. Urządzenia generujące HPM mogą być zastosowane do działań wojskowych, ale również w celach terrorystycznych [2]. W artykule podsumowano wyniki wstępnych badań w zakresie radiacyjnej modyfikacji kompozytów polimerowych skutecznych w ochronie przed działaniem promieniowań mikrofalowych i radiowych. Prace dotyczyły konkretnego zadania - znalezienia absorbera do pomiarów na otwartych poligonach badawczych. Zbadano pod tym kątem modyfikowany radiacyjnie kompozyt: szkło metaliczne, grafit, elastomer Engage 8200.
    Improperly secured electronic devices and components, which include integrated circuits are irrevocably destroyed by high power electromagnetic pulse - HPM [1]. HPM generating device can be used for military operations, but also for terrorist purposes [2]. The article summarizes the results of preliminary research in the field of radiation modification of polymer composites effective in protecting against microwave and radio radiations. The work was related to a particular task - finding absorber for measurements on open research proving grounds. From this angle radiation modified composites were examined: metallic glass, graphite, elastomer Engage 8200.

    This research was carried out on two experimental plots located in the Rymanów and Nawojowa forest districts. In the second and fifth year after planting, at three and six years of age respectively, survival and height of 25 beech progenies of selected stands were measured. Furthermore, we show the effect of beech origin and growth environment (significant ‘provenance × block’ and ‘provenance × test plot’ interactions). Beeches from both experimental plots differed significantly in growth and survival and this difference increased with tree age. The highest provenance heritability was obtained for the tree height after two years of growth in Rymanów. In Nawojowa, the heritability of beech survival reached zero after five years of growth. An evaluation of the stability of beech provenances (genotypes) in terms of survival and height under the habitat conditions of our experimental plots was done using the Finlay and Wilkinson method. The beech provenances of 469–Nawojowa and 452–Lesko (regional standard) were included as a stable basis for reference. A high degree of stability and high average values for the characteristics investigated indicate high progeny quality within these stands.
