Opis:: A serological study of twenty three European bison (Bison bonasus) derived from Northern-East Poland for the seroprevalence of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis, Mycoplasma bovis, Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides SC, Mycoplasma agalactiae and Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae was conducted. Only specific antibodies to M. bovis were detected in two animals (8.7%) which were connected with the clinical signs and macroscopic anatomopathological lesions.

Opis:: The study was aimed at determining the cause of the diseases in three horses exhibiting symptoms of fever, ataxia, mucus membrane paleness, haematuria and thrombocytopenia. The PCR technique revealed the presence in the blood of 18S RNA Babesia/Theileria spp. genetic material. DNA amplification using primers RLB F2 and RLB R2 produced 430 bp size products. The sequences of these PCR products demonstrated a 95.6–97.5% similarity with the sequence of the fragment of 18S RNA Babesia equi, gene number DQ287951 in the GenBank. The treatment utilizing the subcutaneous application of the imidocarb resulted in gradual recovery of the diseased animals.

Opis:: European bison (Bison bonasus) from two different areas of Eastern Poland showing gross pathology possibly associated with mycoplasma infections were tested for ruminant Mycoplasma species using serological and molecular methods. Fifty-five samples, blood or tissue were collected from 28 animals during 2013-2014. Six sera were positive for Mycoplasma bovis. The ELISA and complement fixation test for Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides gave a few weak reactions, but were negative by immunoblotting and molecular methods.

Opis:: The aim of the present study was to investigate the occurrence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato DNA in a group of 120 wild bison (Bison bonasus) from the Bialowieza Primeval Forest in eastern Poland. The PCR technique revealed the presence of 16S RNA of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in the blood of 16 out of 120 examined animals. DNA amplification by means of primers SC1 and SC2 gave a product with a size of 300-bp. The sequences of the PCR products obtained showed 100% homology with each other and 100% homology with B. burgdorferi s.l. 16S RNA gene DQ111061. Results of this study suggest that wild bison are important in maintaining agents of Lyme borreliosis, and that studies of reservoir competence of this species are indicated.

Opis:: The article presents an aerodynamic concept of UAV in the gyrodyne configuration, as a more efficient one than the currently used UAV airframe configuration applied for monitoring tasks of power lines and railway infrastructure. A sample task which is realised by conceptual gyrodyne based on monitoring aerial power lines was characterised and described . The assumed idea of UAV was shown in comparison to the currently used aircraft configuration presented in the introduction. Referring to momentum theory, hover efficiency of the multicopter and the helicopter was evaluated. In relation to the helicopter, an initial draft of the airframe conception accompanied by a description of advantages of the gyrodyne configuration was exposed. Problems related to the gyrodyne configuration were emphasised in the summary.
Artykuł przedstawia zarys koncepcji aerodynamicznej UAV w układzie gyrodyny, jako układu konstrukcyjnego sprawniejszego energetycznie spośród obecnie stosowanych układów UAV w zastosowaniu do zadań monitorowania infrastruktury energetycznej i kolejowej. Scharakteryzowano i opisano przykładowe zadanie realizowane przez koncepcyjną gyrodynę polegające na monitoringu napowietrznej linii energetycznej. Prezentowaną koncepcję UAV przedstawiono w zestawieniu z opisanymi we wstępie aktualnie stosowanymi układami UAV oraz oceniono na podstawie teorii strumieniowej sprawność zawisu dla przykładowego UAV w układzie multikoptera i śmigłowca. Następnie pokazano szkic koncepcji wraz z opisem spodziewanych zalet układu gyrodyny w stosunku do układu śmigłowca z jednoczesnym podkreśleniem w podsumowaniu możliwych problemów wynikających z przyjętego układu.

Opis:: In recent years, the aviation sector has been developing dynamically. The constant increase in the number of passengers contributes to an escalation in the number of air operations. This trend is mainly due to the increased traffic not only in airspace but also within airports. The large concentration of aircraft at the largest airports makes ground-flying phases such as taxiing or take-off becoming a challenge for pilots, ground services, and air traffic controllers. An intensive operation of many objects on the airport's manoeuvring areas can lead to collisions between them. Global air traffic is growing constantly, with record numbers of air operations and passengers carried. The probability of a collision increases, which leads not only to the cancellation of the flight but also to the significant costs of the aircrafts repair. The statistical analysis allows to highlight the problems related to the issue of ground collisions at airports and can also confirm the thesis concerning the growth and density of air traffic.

Opis:: The aim of this paper is to detail the creation of a roller bearing model with flexible body cages in the Adams program suite for subsequent dynamic analysis and to obtain information about kinematic and dynamic relationships of steel and plastic cages under various operating conditions. The bearing model was made to closely resemble its real-life counterpart, which allows us to estimate load conditions, dynamic conditions of individual bearing parts and interactions between them.

Opis:: Biogas is among the fuels whose significance in the general energy balance will increase. These results from the fact that it may be produced from various kinds of waste materials, and it is therefore considered a renewable fuel of the second generation. Because of its properties, biogas may be used directly to power spark-ignition engines. Nonetheless, numerous tests are underway involving the possibility of using biogas to power compression-ignition engines. In order to use biogas, whose main combustible component is methane, in compression-ignition engines, it is necessary to use a dual fuel power supply system. With such a system supplying power to the engine, the gas and air mixture in the cylinder is ignited by a small dose of liquid fuel. This paper presents a fragment of the research on the use of biogas with a varying chemical composition for powering compression-ignition engines. The described tests were conducted using a one-cylinder compressionignition engine mounted on an engine test stand. The fuel gas consisted of a mixture of natural gas and carbon dioxide; the share of each individual component was regulated from the station, which controlled the operation of the whole test stand. The developed control system also enabled the adjustment of the operating parameters of the engine test stand and the parameters of the injection of liquid fuel, such as the injection pressure, the timing angle of injection and the size of the dose. The results presented in the paper show the impact of the individual control parameters of the engine on the value of the engine’s torque and the amount of toxic compounds in the exhaust fumes.
