Opis:
Cosmogenic radionuclides in meteoroids are produced in space in the process of activation. These nuclides have various lifetimes in range from a few days to several hundred thousand years and can therefore be helpful in solving several problems related to the study of meteoroids and their remains, both in space and on the Earth. The simplest application of cosmogenic radionuclide decay in meteorites is to determine the terrestrial age of meteorites, especially those whose fall has not been observed. In this article, we present an additional application of cosmogenic radionuclide measurements, namely for the verification of origin of rocks that show equivocal features and may potentially represent meteorites.

Opis:
Meteorite Antonin fell on 15th July 2021 in Poland. The bolide was observed and recorded by cameras of European Bolide Network, Astronomical Institute of Czech Academy of Sciences. Soon after the fall, specimen of meteorite was recovered and delivered for classification. In this paper, analytical results collected in order to classify the Antonin meteorite are reported. Antonin is L5 ordinary chondrite with deformation degree S3 or S4. This paper includes reports of heterogeneous texture of chondrite and reports on chemical composition of minerals: olivine, low-Ca pyroxene, diopside and glasses, phosphates, chromite and ilmenite, as well as sulfides and native FeNi alloy. The minerals reveal different equilibration degree. Analysis of the texture and chemical composition of Antonin allows to put the meteorite in the framework of current classification of meteorites. It also facilitates making hypotheses on the thermal and collisional processes, that the meteorite experienced while on its parent body.

Opis:
The Pułtusk H chondritic breccia records a complex impact history and contains various products of impact metamorphism. Here, impact melt lithology is described, which is embedded into the Pułtusk breccia. The impact melt clast is formed by microcrystalline quenched silicates and metal-troilite globules and chondritic relicts are retained in the melt. The relicts record strong shock deformation, S4–S5 and they have well developed foliated fabric of metal grains. The melt formed by severe collision and impact melting on the parent body. The chondritic material was superheated and molten. Silicate melt unmixed from the metal-sulphide melt and both were rapidly quenched. Most likely the event occurred during Late Heavy Bombardment, ~3.6 Ga.

Opis:
The Antonin meteorite fell on July 15, 2021 in Wielkopolska Voivodeship. Its fall was recorded by fireball camera network and the meteorite specimen was recovered soon after, during a dedicated search expedition. Main mass of Antonin was provided for scientific research relatively quickly after recovery, thanks to which the studies of cosmogenic radionuclide concentrations were carried out in the g spectrometry laboratory at the National Center for Nuclear Research in Otwock/Świerk. The analyses revealed concentration of 7Be and the traces of the cosmogenic radionuclides of 48V and 51Cr, whose half-lives are in the range of 15–28 days, clearly confirming the relationship of the specimen with the observed fireball. The relatively high concentrations of 58Co, 56Co, 46Sc, 57Co and 54Mn (half-lives of several months) also confirm the recent fall of the specimen. Additionally, collected radionuclide data allow to estimate pre-atmospheric size of the meteoroid. Distribution of 60Co and 26Al indicates a meteoroid chunk with a radius of 20–25 cm. The result of 26Al measurement suggests that the investigated meteorite fragment comes from a rather shallow depth of this meteoroid. In addition, the original mass of the meteoroid from which the Antonin meteorite originated was estimated to be less than 100 kg, most likely 70 kg.

Opis:
Petrographic and microtextural analyses were done on the thin section of an impactite from the Jacek Siemiątkowski Collection of Meteorites (ING PAN OB Wrocław). Two types of textures, crystalline and glassy are distinguishable. In each of them, mineral and rock fragments are deformed in different way and to various degree. One can distinguish: biotite kink bands, irregularly fractured quartz grains, twins of feldspar crystals. Moreover there are visible textures such as planar deformation features in quartz and feldspar grains, diaplectic and polymineral – lechatelierytic glasses. All the observed textures may testify the origin of the rock. The slightly deformed fragments and strongly deformed ones developed during the compression phase of the crater formation at different distance from a projectile and the crater centre. This event was followed by excavation of deformed material and its redeposition in the crater filling. The rock was recrystallised afterwards, which is inferred from the presence of the decorated PDFs and subgrains in some dynamically recrystallised quartz grains.
