Opis:
Series of mathematical phantoms of human body, given by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), was programmed as input files for MCNP-4B code. Detailed check of geometry of these phantoms performed by MCNP-4B, discovered some minor errors, that resulted in overlapping of some organs. Three types of errors were found and described here: (a) colon overlaps with pelvis bone; (b) facial skeleton penetrate the head skin, and (c) esophagus overlaps with stomach. These errors prevent correct execution of program. Proposal for correction of these errors are given in this paper.

Opis:
The radioactivity of some structural building materials, rows, binders, and final construction products, originating from Serbia or imported from other countries, was investigated in the current study by using the standard HPGe gamma spectrometry. The absorbed dose in the air was computed by the method of buildup factors for models of the room with the walls of concrete, gas-concrete, brick and stone. Using the conversion coefficients obtained by interpolation of the International Commission on Radiobiological Protection (ICRP) equivalent doses for isotropic irradiation, the corresponding average indoor effective dose from the radiation of building materials of 0.24 mSv·y−1 was determined. The outdoor dose of 0.047 mSv·y−1 was estimated on the basis of values of the specific absorbed dose rates calculated for the radiation of the series of 238U, 232Th and 40K from the ground and covering materials. The literature values of the effective dose conversion coefficients for ground geometry were applied as well as the published data for content of the radionuclides in the soil.

Opis:
The paper deals with numerical simulation and theoretical study of injection-locked Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser diodes and their transient and steady-state properties. Motivation for this research comes from the fact that Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser diodes seem to be good candidates for transmitters applied in optical network units of new generation wavelength-division-multiplexed passive optical networks. We base our model on the full scale multimode rate equation system, which comprises all supported longitudinal modes of Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser diode, providing its high reliability and broad applicability. We analyze the influence of bias current and spontaneous emission coupling factor on injection-locking characteristics of Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser diodes and find that injection power of the master laser required to maintain an acceptable side-mode-suppression-ratio strongly depends on these parameters. The emphasis of our investigation is on spontaneous emission coupling factor, since its value is often assumed rather than thoroughly calculated or measured. As we show in the paper, variations of this parameter may affect theoretical results and their comparison with experimental data.
