Solar collectors are commonly used in domestic hot water (DHW) systems in different types of buildings. In this paper we conducted the analysis for a single family house located in two countries: Poland (Warsaw) and Spain (Madrid). Various factors like national rules, climatic conditions, investment costs or fuel and electricity prices were taken into consideration. We took into account flat-plate and vacuum pipe collectors to select the best solution. The results show that the use of solar collectors in Poland and Spain is economically justified. Moreover we analyzed heat loses and annual operating costs of the heating installation for both buildings and they were found to be at a similar level, due to high fuel prices in Spain.

Opis:
Geothermal energy is the heat from the Earth that can be recovered and exploited by man. Natural geothermal energy examples are hot springs, volcanoes and other thermal sources. Research showed that the Earth’s temperature was increasing with depth, under a gradient of 2-3°C/100m. It is a great resource, non-polluting, almost infinite source of clean and renewable energy. The heat originates from the Earth’s core temperature. The ground-source heat pump (GSHP) is able to use the low grade geothermal energy to heat and cool homes, schools, governmental and commercial buildings. The heat pump uses a relatively small amount of electricity to transport four times more heat energy to heat consumers.

Heat pumps are used in the heating and air conditioning sector. These devices mantain thermal comfort in an economical and ecological way, meeting the requirements of the European Union in the field of renewable energy. The purpose of this work is to compare systems with an air-source heat pump in a single-family house in Poland and Spain. For the analysis a single-family residential building was selected and its location in two cities with different climatic conditions, in Poland and Spain was taken into account. On the basis of calculations, heat losses and gains were estimated, and the energy demand for heating was found to be about 40% higher in Wroclaw than in Cordoba. On the other hand Energy demand for cooling was determined as 31% higher in Cordoba. Total investment costs were found to be twice as high in Poland, whereas the total annual maintaining costs of using an air-source heat pump were comparable and only 3% difference was calculated.

Autorka poprzez przegląd literatury przedmiotu analizuje prawne aspekty kooperacji pomiędzy nauką a biznesem.PROCES WYWODU: Prezentowane są narzędzia umożliwiające zabezpieczenie praw własności intelektualnej, w ten sposób aby potencjał intelektualny naukowców przyczyniał się do osiągnięcia sukcesu ekonomicznego uczelni i przedsiębiorców, bez uszczerbku dla praw bezpośrednio zaangażowanych w odkrycie twórców. Wskazano na powszechną praktykę, w której kapitał ludzki musi ustępować machinerii biznesu i marketingu, w tym miejscu zostaje wskazana zostaje kluczowa rola uniwersytetu jako dysponenta praw własności intelektualnej – strony umów zawieranych z przedsiębiorcami i reprezentanta praw twórców. WYNIKI ANALIZY NAUKOWEJ: Wywód prowadzi do konkluzji, że pojęcie transferu technologii powinno zostać na trwałe zastąpione terminem transferu innowacji. Z uwagi na fakt, że to właśnie procent skomercjalizowanych wyników badań prowadzonych przez uczelnie stał się wyznacznikiem ich sukcesu wnioski artykułu potwierdzają ważną rolę transferu innowacji.WNIOSKI, INNOWACJE, REKOMENDACJE: Rosnąca aktywność naukowców w środowisku biznesu zwraca uwagę na konieczność zapewnienia konkurencyjności uczelni. Szczególnego znaczenia nabierają metody zarządzania należącymi do nich prawami wyłącznymi, pozwalające na zapewnienie efektywnego transferu innowacji.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to define attitudes that effectively provide legal support for researchers that are engaged in the innovative projects, who are cooperating with the entrepreneurs. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The problem to analyze are discrepancy in interpretation of the basic term from the field of research and development and the threats that results from it. Author by presenting an overview of literature, analyzes legal aspects of the cooperation between business and science. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: Presented are tools to protect intellectual property rights in such a way that the economic success of the universities and entrepreneurs is guaranteed without prejudice to the rights of scientists directly involved in the discovery. It is underlined that it is a common situation that the human capital must give way business and marketing. It indicates the key role of the university as an owner of intellectual property rights – a party to agreements of the transfer of innovation and a representative of the rights of scientists. RESEARCH RESULTS: This article intends to draw attention to the significance of implementation of the results of scientific research. Due to differences in interpretation of the term technology, the article provide a conclusion that the said term should be replaced with the innovation transfer. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Percentage of commercialized results of research conducted by the university has become an important determinant of competitiveness of the universities. The management of the intellectual property rights registered for the university, which helps effectively transfer innovation, seem particularly important.

The aim of this paper is to establish a correlation between the liquid limit value obtained in the Casagrande apparatus (wL/cup) and in the cone penetrometer (wL/cone) for typical glacial sediments from west-central Poland and compare them with the correlation equations published in the literature. The following correlation was formulated: wL/cone = 0.91wL/cup+ 1.98. The analysis presented in this paper proves that deriving a generalized and universal relationship wL/cup/wL/cone for all cohesive soils, regardless of their origin, is very challenging and may not be reliable for use in the engineering practice. It is verified that, in the range of low values of liquid limit, the cone penetrometer gives higher values of wL than those obtained from the Casagrande apparatus. However, for the Polish postglacial soils analysed in this paper, the cone penetrometer underestimates the results in relation to the Casagrande apparatus above wL = 22%. For the purpose of this study, wL = 22% was defined as “the point of equivalent results” (wL/cone = wL/cup).

The monograph “Sustainable buildings – designing and management of costeffective and eco‐friendly systems” has been developed as the result of scientific cooperation between lecturers and researchers from European universities: Bialystok University of Technology (Poland), the University of Cordoba (Spain), Rezekne Academy of Technologies (Latvia) and Vilnius College of Technologies and Design (Lithuania). The authors’ team includes professors with recognized scientific achievements, teachers who cooperate with the industrial sector as well as PhD students starting their career path. The cooperation was possible thanks to joint work in the ADD_ON_SKILLS project (Advanced Digital Design course ON modern buildings developing SKILLS for young engineers, 2020‐1‐PL01‐KA226‐HE‐095244) carried out within the framework of Erasmus+ programme. Sustainable buildings should be planned and managed using available, innovative technologies and systems. It is immensely important to implement modern solutions in the early stage of building design.

The Environmental Protection Law (Act of 27 April 2001, Journal of Laws 2020.1219) requires Poviat Starosty to observe areas endangered by mass movements of the earth and areas where such movements occur. The Regulation of the Minister of Climate and Environment on information on mass movements of the earth of 4 December 2020 (Journal of Laws 2020.2270) introduces a less demanding method of observation, which is the so-called field vision method (§ 3, 1). This article provides a detailed procedure for inspecting mass movements. It can be widely used as part of local government geology tasks in lowland areas. Theresultoftheworkon the above-mentioned procedure is the “mass movement observation protocol (field vision method)”, which was tested on mass movements registered within the Września poviat.

It should be stressed that the level of solar radiation that reaches the Earth´s surface is relatively moderate and even very low, as for industrial applications. It involves high costs and technology to take advantage of this energy. In situations where the required energy flows are not very high, it is possible to use diffuse radiation, which has the advantage of not requiring any kind of movement of the solar receptors to track the sun throughout the day. On the other hand, if energy applications require higher values of solar radiation, it is possible to concentrate this energy, but only with the direct radiation, which restricts the location of these applications to the locations of large amount of sunlight.

Zaprezentujemy testy online z matematyki dla studentów kierunków technicznych utworzone w miejsce tradycyjnych kolokwiów i egzaminów przeprowadzanych bezpośrednio na uczelni. Analiza poprawności rozwiązania zadań polega na sprawdzaniu kolejnych etapów przy pomocy różnego rodzaju pytań dostępnych na zdalnej platformie: jednokrotnego wyboru, wielokrotnego wyboru, prawda-fałsz, dopasowanie, zagnieżdżone. Za wskazanie poprawnej odpowiedzi student otrzymuje punkty dodatnie, a za wybór odpowiedzi niepoprawnej punkty ujemne. Odpowiedzi niepoprawne są starannie dobrane na podstawie zaobserwowanych, często popełnianych błędów w tradycyjnych kolokwiach. Testy cechuje zróżnicowany stopień trudności adekwatnie do złożoności rozpatrywanych problemów. Ze względu na dużą liczebność studentów i losowy wybór testów obszerna jest baza różnych wersji tego samego zadania.
We present online mathematical tests for engineering students devised as a replacement of regular in-class exams. When the correctness of solution is being analysed the consequent steps are checked via various types of questions available on a platform: single choice, multiple choice, true-false, matching and finally embedded questions. When the correct answer is entered the relevant number of points is added to the final score, while when the student enters incorrect answer he loses a relevant number of points. The incorrect answers are diligently worked out based on typical errors performed by students during in-class exams. Tests consist of problems with diverse complexity due to the type of problems considered. Due to a considerable number of students and random selections of questions in each test, every single question in each test has many different versions.

Opis:
Nowadays, issues connected with a reduction of energy consumption in the development of systems using renewable energy consumption are crucial in both scientific studies and industrial use. In this book we show results of the analysis of different energy sources in single family houses. Advantages and disadvantages of systems with heat pumps, solar collectors and gas boilers, depending on their location, are discussed. Pros and cons were analysed from technical, ecological and financial sides. Moreover, the possibility to design installations using a modern BIM technology is presented in the example of a ventilation system. Another chapter shows different solutions regarding external walls dedicated for carbon zero kindergartens in Italy. Then, the influence of the primary energy factor of hydropower plants on the energy performance of buildings is discussed. Finally, legal aspects of air protection, in the context of air pollutants from fuels in Europe are presented.

Opis:
Monografia „Zrównoważone budownictwo – rozwój budownictwa niskoenergetycznego i ekologicznego” powstała w wyniku współpracy naukowej wykładowców i badaczy z europejskich uczelni: Politechniki Białostockiej (Polska), Uniwersytetu w Kordobie (Hiszpania), Uniwersytetu we Florencji (Włochy) oraz Wileńskiej Szkoła Technologii i Projektowania (Litwa). Zespół autorów obejmuje zarówno profesorów o uznanym dorobku naukowym, nauczycieli współpracujących z sektorem przemysłowym, jak też doktorantów rozpoczynających karierę zawodową. Publikacja powstała w wyniku pracy w projekcie ADD_ON_SKILLS (2020-1-PL01-KA226-HE-095244) realizowanym w ramach programu Erasmus+. W ostatnich latach obserwujemy znaczące zmiany w sektorze energetycznym i budowlanym. Zarówno wymagania prawne, jak i oczekiwania użytkowników w zakresie oszczędności energii oraz stosowania ekologicznych materiałów i rozwiązań, skutkują nowym podejściem do nowych i istniejących budynków.

The analysis clearly indicates that employers in Włodawa County function in conditions far less favourable to other transactors in the country. Detrimental conditions of local employers are compounded by the fact that they do not have full knowledge about the possibility of cooperation with the Local Labour Office in Włodawa as far as dimension of potential economic benefits is considered. However, if we take into account all given answers to the questions in the questionnaire as an outline to obtain empirical material on which the presented analysis is based, it appears that employers are not able to clearly and accurately identify their real expectations for cooperation with the Local Labour Office in Włodawa. Employers expect active and individualized forms of support, including usage of electronic communication channels rather than the dominant stationary (from behind a desk) form of service. In conclusion, it appears that a key factor that restrains collaboration between the employment office and local employers is a general ignorance of the possible levels of cooperation and potential economic benefits that arise from them. Consequently, more effort of the employment office is needed in order to bring employers possibility to cooperate with the office in order to achieve mutual economic and social benefits.
