- The households' environment is a system of conditions, which determine the functioning of households, especially their condition and their behavior on the market and during the consumption process. This environment is comprised of five groups of elements. The firsl group encompasses the macroeconomic indicators influencing the social sense of security and trust. The next two groups of environmental elements determine the economic as well as socio-cultural condition of households. The fourth group contains those elements of the environment, which influence the level and structure of individual consumption. The last group of elements influences the satisfaction of the household members. This paper also comprises selected examples of the elements of the environment, influencing the social sense of security and trust. These are, among others, the unemployment rate, GDP growth rate in Poland and in the EU countries, inflation rate, PLN exchange rate to USD budget deficit in relation to GDP. The empirical evidence shows the unfavorable influence of these macroeconomic indicators on the social sense of security and trust.
