Opis:
Marianna Biernacka, called “blessed mother-in-law”, gave life for saving life of her daughter-in-law. Stanislawa Leszczynska was a midwife. She was receiving labors in the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz. Both women lived during the Second World War. They showed great kindness and piety. The aim of the article was to present the life histories of Marianna Biernacka and Stanislawa Leszczynska and the events that affected their beati-fication. In both cases their heroic acts became famous only decades after the war. The articleʼs message is clear: everyone can become a saint. The article was based on the available books about Marianna Biernacka and Stanislawa Leszczynska, which are few in the literature.

Opis:
In the autumn of 2016 a geomagnetic survey was conducted in Skołoszów, site. 7, Dist Jarosław. The magnetic prospection took place on a low hill spanning 2.12 ha in total. Distribution of the anomalies, as visible on a map depicting obtained data, reflects numerous structures related to human activity in the area during the prehistory and historic times. Among them are two features interpreted as residues of funerary rituals taking place at the site. One of them pertains to Middle Neolithic earthen long barrow, whereas the second by its shape resembles Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age tumuli. Apart from the latter, one can discern numerous anomalies potentially related to pits and ditches. Interpretation of the geophysical imagery was based upon the results of excavations conducted in 2010 in the nearby section of Skołoszów, site 7. In the process, funeral structures in the types of earthen long barrow and a presumable tumulus were recorded. Thus, it is possible to confront observations inferred from the results of non-invasive, magnetometric survey, with data obtained by means of more direct exploratory methods. Besides the prehistoric record, our investigation resulted in reconstruction of the trenches most probably dating to the First World War.

Opis:
This paper discusses the use of quantitative cartographic methods in the analysis of the undeveloped land properties located in the territory of the municipality of Zakopane. The municipality of Zakopane is a territory with specific ecological, climatic, natural and environmental characteristics. Approximately 60% of the county is covered by the Tatrzański National Park. It comprises many ecological landscape features such as parks, green spaces, and vantage points. The presence of these features increases the value of the property, but at the same time in many cases it creates barriers to the property management arising from the environmental protection. This area is frequently visited by tourists. The market analysis is the first stage of the real estate valuation process. It aims at the identification of the factors influencing the value of real property. The market analysis consists in determining the characteristics of the area where the real property is located and finding the features that have a significant influence on the value of the property. The results of market analysis, the availability and the amount of data may affect the selection of a valuation method. These data refer to the sale and purchase transactions of undeveloped land properties between January 2011 and December 2015. Quantitative cartographic methods were applied in order to demonstrate the importance of the reliable selection of representative real properties and its impact on the acquisition of the information about the real estate market under examination. These methods were also used to investigate the spatial distribution of the transactions and the unit prices of undeveloped land properties. The cartographic analysis was conducted using the ArcGIS software and maps available on the Tatrzański Municipal Geoportal.

Opis:
Middle Triassic (Muschelkalk) limestones and dolostones of southern Poland contain vertebrate remains, which can be used for palaeoecological and palaeogeographical analyses. The results presented concern vertebrate remains uncovered at four localities in Upper Silesia and one on Opole Silesia, a region representing the south-eastern margin of the Germanic Basin in Middle Triassic times. The most abundant remains in this assemblage are fish remains, comprising mostly actinopterygian teeth and scales. Chondrichthyan and sauropsid remains are less common. Reptilian finds include vertebrae, teeth and fragments of long bones, belonging to aquatic or semi-aquatic reptiles, such as nothosaurids, pachypleusorosaurids, and ichthyosaurids. Also, coprolites of possibly durophagous and predacious reptiles occur. In the stratigraphic column of Mikołów, actinopterygian remains are the most numerous and no distinct changes of the taxonomic composition occur. Although this assemblage differs from those described at other localities (Ząbkowice with numerous chondrichthyans, Żyglin, and Płaza with common sauropsid fossils), sampling bias has to be considered.
