Assessment of gentamicin effect on oxidoreductive balance and microstructure of trunk kidney in Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio). The aim of this study was to investigate the potential toxic effects of gentamicin on the Prussian carp (Carrasius gibelio) by determining its effect on oxidant-antioxidant balance and by histological image analysis of trunk kidney. The fi shes were injected with single standard therapeutic dose of gentamicin of 5 mg·kg–1. The samples of trunk kidney were collected in 3 days post antibiotic administration. Concentration of reduced glutathione (GSH) and activity of enzymes: superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and catalase (CAT) were examined. The concentration of GSH and the activity of studied enzymes did not show statistically signifi cant differences between control and gentamicin-exposed group. The pathological changes were not observed in the trunk kidney structure. Renal tubules as well as renal corpuscles had correct structure. The obtained results indicate that a single injection of gentamycin at a dose of 5 mg·kg–1 does not lead to disturbance of oxidant-antioxidant balance or histopathological changes in the trunk kidney of Prussian carp. Gentamicin administration did not change oxidoreductive balance and trunk kidney microstructure in Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio).

Opis:
There are great number tasks of explosive technique, requiring the charges with low pressure and detonation velocity. Powerful tool of regulation of these parameters is lowering of charge density. The main goal of this work is elaboration of technology of manufacture and investigation of explosive properties of charges on a base of eutectic ammonium nitrate-urea mixtures (AN/UR) that have melting point T[m] < 100 C. The physicochemical properties of these mixtures were investigated by means of DSC method and fusion diagram of them was plotted. The composition AN/UR 80/20, that has Tm= 80-90 C was chosen for subsequent investigation. The molten composition was mixed with fine aluminum powder, portion of it was placed into paper tube. The level of a liquid was less than length of the tube. Crystallization of melted mixtures was carried out in vacuum chamber, the level of liquid increased at pumping because of expansion of air bubbles introduced with aluminum particles and reached the upper cork of tube. In such a way porous charges were formed. The dependence of charge density vs. population of tubes by melted mixtures was plotted. Calculated heat explosion of mixtures at content of aluminum Al = 10-15% is Qv = 4.5-5.3 MJ/kg, calculated detonation velocity at density ρ = 0.5-1 g/cm3 changes from D = 3.2 to 5.2 km/s. Detonability of charges was investigated experimentally. Failure diameter (df) of detonation was measured, it was df = 22 mm (ρ = 0.6-0.7 g/cm3) for charges without confinement at initiation by means of booster or blasting cap.

Artykuł podejmuje problematykę środowiskowych kosztów rozwoju Specjalnych Stref Ekonomicznych SSE oraz Stref Aktywności Gospodarczej SAG w Polsce. Autorzy przedstawiając genezę tych obszarów, ich postępujący rozwój oraz stan obecny koncertują się na określeniu możliwości analizy „ekologicznych efektów zewnętrznych” związanych z ich funkcjonowaniem. Ponadto ukazują oni specyfikę i wybrane uwarunkowania prawne funkcjonowania tych obszarów. Jednocześnie przedstawiają syntetyczne propozycje działań systemowych, zmierzających do ułatwienia procesu analizy tych bardzo ważnych z punktu widzenia skutecznego prowadzenia „polityki zrównoważonego rozwoju” aspektów.
The paper discusses the issue of environmental costs of the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and Economic Activity Zones (EAZ) in Poland. The authors present the origins of the zones and their progressive development as well as their current status and focus on the analysis of ‘external ecological effects’ related to their functioning. Furthermore, they demonstrate the specific nature and legal conditions of the functioning of the zones. At the same time they present synthetic proposals of system actions facilitating the process of the analysis of these significant aspects of efficient implementation of the ‘policy of sustainable development’.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to provide characteristics of the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Poland from February to August, 2014. The samples from dead wild boar and domestic pigs were submitted to the National Veterinary Research Institute, National Reference Laboratory for ASF in Pulawy, Poland, for testing by PCR and ELISA methods. In the studied period, fourteen cases of ASF in wild boar and two outbreaks in backyard pigs were confirmed. In addition to the results of laboratory tests performed in 2014, the article describes the ASF surveillance programme in wild boar and pigs in Poland carried out in 2011-2013. The spread of ASF in Poland is compared with the epidemiological situation in Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus and the Russian Federation.

In this publication the chosen methods of estimation of the eutrophication were presented. These methods were used for the evaluation of the trophic status of the Poraj Reservoir water. In this research the Integral trophic state index was used. In addition the loading reservoir with total phosphorus was estimated, as well as the permissible and the critical loads of phosphorus according to Vollenweider were also defined. Furthermore, the trophic classification of reservoir water was achieved on the grounds of: the concentrations of biogenic substances in reservoir water, the concentrations of the chlorophyll a, the biomass of phytoplankton and the species composition of phytoplankton. The every chosen methods indicated on the advanced eutrophication processes occurring in this reservoir.
W artykule zostały zaprezentowane wybrane metody oszacowania poziomu eutrofizacji. Metody te użyto do oceny statusu troficznego wód zbiornika zaporowego Poraj. W badaniach został zastosowany Integralny wskaźnik stanu troficznego. Dodatkowo oszacowano obciążenie zbiornika ładunkiem fosforu ogólnego oraz obliczono ładunki dopuszczalne i niebezpieczne fosforu ogólnego według Vollenweidera. Ponadto, klasyfikacji troficznej wód zbiornika dokonano na podstawie koncentracji związków biogennych oraz chlorofilu a, a także biomasy fitoplanktonu oraz składu gatunkowego fitoplanktonu. Wszystkie wybrane metody wskazały na postępujące procesy eutrofizacyjne w wodach tego zbiornika.

Subject and purpose of work: The article deals with the issues of promotion and its impact on the students’ decisions to choose a place to study. The problem seems to be important due to the changes on the educational market that have been taking place for several years. On the one hand, we have a large supply of academic institutions, and, on the other, an ongoing demographic decline. Such a situation requires the implementation of marketing activities which can establish and maintain permanent relationships between higher education institutions and the recipients of their offers. Materials and methods: This study used a non-random selection. It included 100 randomly selected students of Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska (PSW). Its aim was to answer two basic research questions, namely what impact on students’ choice of a place to study have promotional activities undertaken by higher education institutions, and which forms of promotion have the greatest and the least impact on students’ choices. Results: The survey of respondents' opinions was conducted at the turn of January and February 2020 by the method of a diagnostic survey using a questionnaire. The main source of information on academic institutions to choose from, as stated by the respondents, were their friends and family. Such an answer was given by as many as 40% of the respondents. The research also showed that the greatest impact on students’ decisions were: the information on the website of a higher education institution (24%), open days (19%), as well as leaflets and guides (16%). Conclusions: The arguments for the choice of Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska, and not some other academic institution, were primarily a convenient location, its prestige, the possibility of foreign trips and the positive opinions of their friends. The respondents positively assess the image of their study place, but they find its promotional activities to be insufficient.

W pracy zawarto zagadnienia związane z analizą obecnego wpływu składowiska odpadów Żelazny Most na zawartość metali ciężkich w burakach ćwikłowych uprawianych w ogródkach przydomowych położonych we wsiach Tarnówek i Komorniki. Z przeprowadzanych analiz zawartości Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd wynika, że spożywanie części nadziemnych i podziemnych buraków ćwikłowych może negatywnie wpływać na stan zdrowia mieszkających tam ludzi.
The work included issues related to the analysis of the current impact of the tailings pond Żelazny Most on the content of heavy metals in red beets grown in home gardens located in the villages of Tarnówek and Komorniki. Analyzes of the contents of Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd show that consumption of the above- and underground parts of rot beet may adversely affect the health of people living there.
