Background. Globalisation is the direct or indirect source and cause of many economic, social, political and cultural processes and phenomena. These processes also affect agribusiness and food production. One of the important developments in recent decades is the ever-increasing scale of food adulteration. Its consequence is a reduction in the level of food safety, both in its health and economic aspects. The latter is due to the presence of impaired, or even adulterated, food on the market, which exposes consumers to non-equivalent exchanges. Sectors particularly vulnerable to these illegal trade practices include meat and fish products. Objective. The aim of the article is to identify the dominating methods/categories of food adulteration using the example of the Polish market for the food production sectors of meat and fish. Material and methods. The research was conducted using data from the Agricultural and Food Quality Inspection (AFQI), the official food control institution responsible for quality and food adulteration controls in Poland. The study covered the period from 2010 to 2020. Results. Research has shown an exceptionally significant level and diversity of methods of adulterating meat and fish products. These products are adulterate much more often than other food products. The conducted research has shown many methods and ways of adulterating both meat and fish products. It is worth emphasizing that the greater concentration of counterfeiting methods concerns meat products. The study revealed an extremely significant variety of adulterating methods for meat and fish products, significantly beyond those typically cited in the literature. Conclusions. The results of the research indicate the need to intensify official food controls on the Polish market. In particular, this should apply to the group of meat and fish products due to their high level of adulteration.

Opis:
Technological progress in the cultivation of horticultural and fruit plants makes the use of soil becoming less and less important. Growing plants in soilless substrates is becoming more and more common. The aim of the study was to determine the variability of the mineral composition of fruits and leaves of everbearing strawberry of the San Andreas® variety in soilless cultivation. Research was carried out at the experimental plantation of Polski Instytut Truskawki Sp. z o.o. (geographical coordinates: 50°02′11″N and 19°81′19″E). The cultivation of everbearing strawberry of the San Andreas® variety was carried out in a gutter system under covers in coconut substrate. The stability of the chemical composition of strawberry leaves and fruits depends on fertilisation, weather factors, and the quality of water used for fertigation. Despite maintaining the content of nutrient in the rhizosphere at the level recommended for organic substrates, low potassium and calcium content and high magnesium content in strawberry leaves were determined. Among the macroelements analysed in strawberry leaves, the lowest variation coefficient values were found for nitrogen, magnesium and calcium, and in fruits – for nitrogen, phosphorus, and magnesium. The highest variation coefficients were obtained for phosphorus and sodium in strawberry leaves, and for sulphur and sodium in strawberry fruits. Variation coefficient values of copper, zinc, and manganese content in leaves were similar. The content of iron in leaves and zinc in fruits was characterised by the lowest variation coefficients during the growing period.

Women, especially in the peri- and postmenopausal periods, undergo many organic and functional changes. Fluctuation and ultimately a decline in the levels of female reproductive hormones is a long-lasting process, potentially leading to regulatory disorders of the autonomic nervous system. In consequence, postmenopausal women experience depressive mood disorders and more severe anxiety symptoms. The aim of this study was to assess the severity of anxiety and depressive symptoms in postmenopausal women in connection with the serum levels of zinc (Zn), magnesium (Mg), selenium (Se), and copper (Cu). The study involved 102 healthy postmenopausal women. It was divided into two parts: the first part was based on a survey performed using standardized research instruments and a questionnaire developed by the authors. The second part involved a biochemical serum analysis, whose aim was to determine the levels of selected elements. The mean level of anxiety as a state was 4.53±1.79, and the mean level of anxiety as a trait was 3.86±2.03. The mean level of depression according to the Beck Depression Inventory was 6.77±6.82. As many as 77.5% of the women had no depressive symptoms. The mean serum levels of the studied elements were as follows: magnesium (19.41±02.81 mg dm-3), zinc (0.94±0.22 mg dm-3), selenium (0.06±0.03 mg dm-3), and copper (0.40±0.57 mg dm-3). No relationship was demonstrated between the levels of selected elements and the development of depressive and anxiety disorders in the studied postmenopausal women.

The aim of this study is to investigate how the level of food safety and quality in Poland has changed after European Union accession. Poland’s accession to EU structures resulted in a number of economic, market and environmental changes. One of the most important areas of these changes is the food production and consumer supply sector. The conducted research is based on the results of controls performed by the main food control institutions in Poland. Research covers the areas of food quality and scale of irregularities revealed by control institutions, leading to changes in the level of food safety in terms of the health threats and economic security of consumers resulting from food falsification. Studies have shown that in the post-accession period, significant and multidirectional changes in the above-mentioned scope have taken place. Despite the proven presence of food with improper sanitary conditions, the Polish consumer is unlikely to be concerned about this. The situation is much worse in terms of economic security and food quality. The scale of irregularities in this respect is significant, and as the last years of the analyzed period show (after 2015), the phenomenon of decreasing food quality and even food falsification is growing.
Celem opracowania jest zbadanie, jak zmieniał się poziom bezpieczeństwa i jakości żywności w Polsce po akcesji do Unii Europejskiej. Akcesja Polski do UE wprowadziła wiele zmian gospodarczych, rynkowych oraz środowiskowych. Jednym z bardziej istotnych obszarów tych zmian jest sektor produkcji żywności oraz zaopatrzenia konsumentów. W badaniach wykorzystano wyniki kontroli głównych instytucji urzędowej kontroli żywności w Polsce. Podstawowym obszarem badawczym były kategoria jakości żywności oraz skala nieprawidłowości ujawnionych przez instytucje kontrolne, prowadzących do zmian poziomu bezpieczeństwa żywności w zakresie zagrożeń zdrowotnych oraz bezpieczeństwa ekonomicznego konsumentów w następstwie fałszowania żywności. Badania wykazały, że po akcesji Polski do UE następowały i w dalszym ciągu następują znaczne i wielokierunkowe zmiany w powyższym zakresie. Jednocześnie wykazały, że ewolucja zachodzących procesów i zjawisk nie zawsze była i jest korzystna dla polskiego konsumenta. Pomimo wykazanej obecności żywności o niewłaściwym stanie sanitarnym, polski konsument nie ma powodów do obaw w tym zakresie. Zdecydowanie gorsza sytuacja istnieje w zakresie bezpieczeństwa ekonomicznego i jakości handlowej żywności. Skala nieprawidłowości w tym zakresie jest znacząca, a jak wykazują dane, po 2015 roku powiększa się zakres zjawiska zaniżania jakości żywności oraz jej fałszowania.

Background: Medical assistants/care coordinators play a crucial role in the coordinated care system. The tasks of nurses and some qualified supporting staff have been extended to include this role along with the implementation of the pilot program POZ Plus in Polish primary healthcare. A personalized approach to the patient is especially important during the implementation of large-scale prevention programs. Aim of the study: To assess who has the greatest influence on the patient’s decision to undergo screening colonoscopy and outline the current and potential roles of nurses in this process. Material and methods: This questionnaire-based study was conducted at the coordinated care facility Medical and Diagnostic Center (CMD) in Siedlce, Poland between March 1st and June 15th, 2017. Results: 138 patients participated in the study. The majority (75; 54.4%) reported they were directly convinced to undergo colonoscopy by a primary care physician. 18 (13.0%) were convinced by a nurse, and 22 (15.9%) by another specialist. The remaining (23; 16.7%) patients indicated other factors. The majority of patients (74; 53.6%) responded saying that all necessary information about the entire test course was provided by the nurse, while 35 (25.4%) shared that this information had come from the primary care physician, 8 (5.80%) from the specialist doctor, 3 (2.17%) from the receptionist and 18 (13.0%) from other sources of information, such as the Internet, leaflets and notice boards. Conclusions: We found that primary care physicians at this institution have an important role in convincing patients to undergo preventive colonoscopy, while nurses provide key information to patients on the preparation and the course of this procedure. Although the current model seems to be effective in a coordinated care setting, there may be still a place for nurse care coordinators to take on some tasks previously performed by doctors.

The aim of the study was to examine responses of ‘Premium Red’ poinsettia cultivated on ebb-and-flow benches at different nutrient solution concentrations (1.6, 2.0 and 2.4 mS·cm-1). Plants were grown at a greenhouse in 1.2 dm3 pots, filled in TS2 medium. The highest plants with the largest diameters and best quality were found when EC of the nutrient solution concentration was 2.0 or 2.4 mS·cm-1. At the vegetative and bract coloration stages, leaves of plants supplied with nutrient solutions at 2.0 and 2.4 mS·cm-1 had higher status of chlorophyll than those of from nutrient solution of 1.6 mS·cm-1. As the nutrient solution concentration increased, both concentrations of salts and macronutrients (N-NO3, P, K, Ca, Mg) in the medium increased. It was concluded that in cultivation of poinsettia on ebb-and-flow benches, adequate EC value of nutrient solution concentration was 2.0 mS·cm-1.

The paper presents the structure and basic properties of the SWPL-1 helmet-mounted flight parameter display system, constructed for the Mi-17 helicopter with analogue systems and on-board instruments. It describes the basic components of the SWPL-1 system and on board components cooperating with the SWPL-1 system necessary to ensure the imaging system’s operation (including the ADU-3200 central unit for aerodynamic data and the GPS-155XL satellite signals receiver). It presents the architecture, the principle of operation, and the main constituents of the SWPL-1 helmet-mounted flight parameter system, as well as the standards of data transmission used in digital communication between the SWPL-1 system and on-board systems (installed on the Mi-17 helicopter). It describes the scope and manner of pilot and navigation data presentation as well as control of drive unit operation parameters in detail. It presents selected optimization methods for tasks executed in the helmet mounted system’s life cycle. The particular stages of the life cycle were described in detail, from the earliest stages of needs identification, through the analytic and conceptual phase, then the implementation stage, and ending with the operation stage. It introduces tasks for optimization and related methods into the process of creating the new system at every stage of its implementation. It presents one of the methods of multi-criteria optimization based on the experts’ assessment of choice of a variant of the helmet-mounted flight parameter display system’s hardware architecture in detail.

W pracy przeanalizowano efektywność wprowadzania pakietów przyrodniczych „Programu rolnośrodowiskowego” na trwałych użytkach zielonych, realizowanego w ramach PROW 2007–2013. Podstawą opracowania były dane z lat 2008–2013 dla poszczególnych województw, udostępnione przez Agencję Restrukturyzacji i Modernizacji Rolnictwa. Obejmowały one powierzchnię wsparcia (w ha) na podstawie wydanych decyzji, przyznających płatności rolnośrodowiskowe w pakietach: nr 3 – „Ekstensywne trwałe użytki zielone”; 4 – „Ochrona zagrożonych gatunków ptaków i siedlisk przyrodniczych poza obszarami Natura 2000” i 5 – „Ochrona zagrożonych gatunków ptaków i siedlisk przyrodniczych na obszarach Natura 2000”. Wyniki realizacji pakietów przyrodniczych w odniesieniu do każdego roku zobrazowano w formie mapowej dla wszystkich województw. Mapy wykonano z użyciem oprogramowania ESRI ArcGIS 9.3.1. Udział powierzchni trwałych użytków zielonych w poszczególnych województwach, na których realizowano pakiety przyrodnicze, kształtował się pod koniec okresu badawczego w granicach od ok. 4 do 40%. W skali kraju, co siódmy hektar całkowitej powierzchni użytków zielonych był objęty realizacją pakietów przyrodniczych. Największym zainteresowaniem wśród rolników cieszył się pakiet nr 3 i był realizowany średnio w Polsce na 54% powierzchni użytków zielonych objętych realizacją programu rolnośrodowiskowego, a na pozostałe (nr 4 i 5) przypadało odpowiednio 22 i 24%.
In this paper, the effectiveness of introducing natural packages of “Agro-Environmental Programme” has been analyzed. The programme was implemented as part of the RDP 2007–2013 based on permanent grasslands. The basis of the study was data from 2008–2013 for individual voivodships, made available by the ARiMR (Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture). The data included a support area in hectares, derived from the issued decisions granting agroenvironmental payments in packages: number 3 – “Extensive and permanent grasslands”, 4 – “Conservation of endangered species of birds and natural habitats outside Natura 2000 areas” and 5 – “Conservation of endangered species of birds and natural habitats inside Natura 2000 areas”. Results for each year of natural packages implementation were depicted in a map format for all voivodships. Maps were made using ESRI ArcGIS 9.3.1 software. Share of permanent areas of the grassland, on which natural packages were implemented in individual voivodships, ranged from about 4 to 40% at the end of the study period. On a national scale, every seventh hectare of total area of the grassland was covered by the natural packages implementation. The most popular among the farmers was package number 3 and it was implemented in Poland on average on 54% of the area of the grassland which was covered by the agro-environmental programme. For the remaining packages, numbers 3 and 4, were 20 and 24% respectively of grasslands.

It is known that nano- and micromechanics require new approaches to right describing of surface-like phenomena which lead to an enhanced energy conversion. In this work, a general form of surface forces that consist of a contribution from both the friction and mobility components has been extended to collect the effects of bulk and surface motion of a fluid. Quite similar impact can be observed for a solid-fluid mixture, where the principle of effective stress for this new type of approach should be considered from the very beginning. The second motivation of our work is to present the multiscale domain of fluid-solid interaction which describes some “emergence effects” for materials with especially high volumetric surface densities.

This paper shows results of researches of a structure and mechanical properties of metal sheets of IF steels subjected to recrystallization annealing. The annealing was held in the scope of the temperature of 600-900°C over 25 min time. The impact of heat treatment on changes of properties and structure of the researches steel has been analysed. During annealing typical processes of rebuilding of the structure deformed as a result of cold deformation in the form of forming new recrystallized grains and their growth were observed. As the temperature of annealing increases the hardness of the material gradually decreases.

This research paper shows the influence of a repeated SPD (Severe Plastic Deformation) plastic forming with the DRECE technique (Dual Rolls Equal Channel Extrusion) on hardening of low carbon IF steel. The influence of number of passes through the device on change of mechanical properties, such as tensile strength TS and yield stress YS, of tested steel was tested. The developed method is based on equal channel extrusion with dual rolls and uses a repeated plastic forming to refinement of structure and improve mechanical properties of metal bands [1-2]. For the tested steel the increase of strength properties after the DRECE process was confirmed after the first pass in relation to the initial material. The biggest strain hardening is observed after the fourth pass.
