Opis:
The paper puts forward a new method of determination of signatures' characteristic points. The method is based on seeking points of the highest curvature using the IPAN99 algorithm. The way of IPAN99 algorithm parameters' automatic selection for a particular signature has been fully described. Moreover, the way of determination of additional characteristic points, important for a signatures analysis, has been shown. The presented results of carried out experiments confirm that the proposed method is useful for signature recognition and verification.

Opis:
The paper presents a research on the utilization of a virtual reality as means of stimulation during a videonystagmography examination. The main aim of the research was to test whether an optical stimulation generated by means of virtual reality presented in a helmet-mounted display is applicable to the videonystagmography examination. Eye position was recorded by an infrared camera mounted in virtual reality head-set. Visual stimulations were first performed on a LCD display mounted in VR goggles and then on a LCD monitor. Tracking of a moving field was a subject's task. Target horizontal and vertical jumps were used for calibration. Visual stimuli applied were pendulum target movement and moving vertical stripes. The results of tests showed that pupil positions registered during the virtual stimulation were consistent with those registered during the traditional stimulation.

Opis:
The article outlines how to use the convergence of collections to determine the position of a mobile device based on the WiFi radio signal strength with the use of fuzzy sets. The main aim is the development of the method for indoor position determination based on existing WiFi network infrastructure indoors. The approach is based on the WiFi radio infrastructure existing inside the buildings and requires operating mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. An SQL database engine is also necessary as a widespread data interface. The SQL approach is not limited to the determination of the position but also to the creation of maps in which the system dening the position of the mobile device will operate. In addition, implementation issues are presented along with the distribution of the burden of performing calculations and the benets of such an approach for determining the location. The authors describe how to decompose the task of determining the position in a client-server architecture.

Opis:
The paper presents a research on the utilization of an up-to-date virtual reality set as a stimulation during an electronystagmography examination. The main aim of the research was to test whether an optical stimulation generated by means of virtual reality presented in a helmet-mounted display is comparable with the same methods of stimulation generated in a human natural environment. The experiments were conducted using an amplifier of electronystagmography signals, an acquisition software and the Oculus Development Kit 2 virtual reality set. As traditional stimuli were used animations displayed on the LCD monitor screen. The electronystagmograms registered with a virtual optokinetic stimulation were compared with results obtained using traditional stimulating methods. Additionally, a questionnaire on comfort was conducted among participants of the experiment. To asses the similarity of signals registered using both methods the Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated and the standard deviation. The results of tests showed that electronystagmograms registered during the virtual stimulation were consistent with the records registered during the traditional stimulation. Moreover, the results of the questionnaire on comfort while using a virtual reality headset are very encouraging showing that headset is at least neutral for participants.

Opis:
The paper presents research on storing text cytogenetic tests data conducted with GTG and FISH methods for browsing and automatic processing of its string results. It presents analysis of the text cytogenetic test result and a two proposal structures of the databases (the storing data and the analytical one) used for anonymised text GTG and FISH cytogenetic test results storing and their processing. Presented structures were queried with known chromosome aberrations for T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (T-ALL), B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (B-ALL) and both T-ALL and B-ALL in the proposed database. Additionally, the analytical database was filled with the set of Mittelman database results and browsed with non-standard queries. Conducted tests demonstrated that the proposed analitical structure is useful for GTG and FISH cytogenetic test results text mining.

The new method of automatic determination the I, III and V waves of Auditory Brainstem Responses is presented in the paper. The brainstem response arises as a result of acoustic stimulation of auditory system. The main aim of the presented study is to analyse an effectiveness of using IPAN99 algorithm for automatic wave I, III and V determination. The presented results of research show that the IPAN99 algorithm combined with time domain constraints can be useful for this application.

Opis:
The paper presents the preliminary study of the utilization of a low resolution ECG signal analysis. The analysis was performed on the signals obtained from a hand-held ECG monitor usually used in primary health care. The aim. The main aim of the study was a registration of series of data by volunteers within couple of months and determination of signal quality and main ECG parameters as follows: Q, R, S waves, QRS duration as well as the end of PQ and the beginning of ST segment. Additionally, the heart rate variability was determined. Materials and methods. The data was registered by 12 volunteers aged from 35 to 55. The ECG tests were carried out for 7 months. The sample rate of the signal was 100 Hz. To determine the ECG parameters the signal processing and statistical methods was used. Results. The sensitivity of the following ECG parameters were: R wave detection - 99,2 %, Q wave detection - 99,1 %, S wave detection - 99,0 %, QRS duration - 99,2 % respectively.
