    The author analyses contemporary syntactic innovations based on usus, but incorrect according to linguistic rules, such as: odnośnie czego, przed i po obiedzie, dwa lub więcej samochodów, szampon dla zdrowych włosów. She proves that such forms result from language economy and the level of their preservation leads to the possibility of their normative acceptance.

    The author summarises the concepts of the standard and its codification which had a significant influence on the understanding of language culture at the turn of the 21st century. She fi nds the holistic theory of language standard and culture formulated by Halina Kurkowska in 1971, which defines the standard as a part of a language, as a component of its internal organisation rather than as an external socially imposed linguistic behaviour, the most important for the present days. The standard is shaped by the usage and it is linguists’ duty to determine and describe its content and to codify what has been sanctioned by the social linguistic convention. The author of this paper considers the identifi cation of two levels of the language standard: the model standard and the functional (popular) standard, the most significant achievement of the Polish prescriptivism. The concepts by Danuta Buttler, Andrzej Markowski, Jan Miodek, Jadwiga Puzynina, Stanisław Gajda, Mirosław Bańko, which are discussed in this paper in detail, have all contributed to that. All researchers regard diversifi cation of the standard as satisfaction of the needs of language users but they disagree on the concepts concerning its codification. An innovative manner of approaching the language standard at the time of the “digital breakthrough” was formulated by Katarzyna Kłosińska, who argues that the approaches to the language standard applied to date do not correspond to the essence of online communication. The researcher warns codifiers against ethnocentrism and suggests that a set of “prescriptive universals” be used for standard codifi cation.

    The topic of considerations is the language communication culture of varied official texts. The author evaluates the level of linguistic competence of the authors of ministerial documents published on the Web pages of those institutions. She also reports on the attitudes of the senders and addressees of official texts forming the subject of discussion of the First Congress of the Official Language (Pol. I Kongres Języka Urzędowego). She contends, drawing on her personal experiences, that translators engaging in the translation of EU texts into Polish demonstrate utmost care for wording and communicability of official documents. Moreover, translators are held up as a model of care for high level of culture of office communication.

Wskazuje na językową inwencyjność pisarza, walory artystyczne jego tekstów, umiejętne balansowanie na pograniczu powagi i humoru, a także podstawy etyczne rządzące jego estetycznymi wyborami.
    The article is a linguistic reflection on the literary Polish language of Artur Daniel Liskowacki. The author analyses the language of the works from the perspective of the canons of language culture, normative, communicative and ethical rules. He points out the linguistic inventiveness of the writer, the artistic qualities of his texts, his skilful balancing between seriousness and humour, as well as the ethical foundations governing his aesthetic choices.

    Autorka artykułu pokazuje, z jakimi problemami musi zetknąć się uczestnik komunikacji językowej, jeśli respektuje zasady inkluzywności i chce pozostać w zgodzie z normą językową. Językowa inkluzywność dotyczy osób i grup społecznych dyskryminowanych ze względu na cechy, na które nie mają one wpływu, m.in. płeć, rasę, kolor skóry, orientację seksualną, przynależność do mniejszości narodowej, sprawność fizyczną, kondycję psychiczną. Problemy normatywne związane z mówieniem i pisaniem o tych grupach są rozpatrywane na różnych poziomach organizacji tekstu: semantyczno-pragmatycznej, leksykalnej, fleksyjnej, składniowej.
    The author of the article describes problems a participant in a language communication must encounter if he/she obeys the principles of inclusiveness and wishes to act in accordance with the linguistic norm. Linguistic inclusiveness refers to individuals and social groups discriminated against for features beyond their control, including sex, race, skin colour, sexual orientation, national minority membership, physical fitness, mental condition. Normative problems connected with talking and writing about these groups are considered at various levels of the text organization: semantic-pragmatic, lexical, inflectional, and syntactic.
