Opis:
The development of logistics support simulation model of Wroclaw airport allows to build a forecast of transport processes taking place in the airport. Evaluation of the processes will be carried out on the level of destination network planning in order to estimate the traffic flows in the terminal zone. Model allows to select the optimum process control parameters inside the terminal, such as: number of open check-ins, the number of open security check points, etc. A significant advantage of the model is the ability to change the parameters of the process during its execution (changing the planned arrival time to the current time of arrival). The forecast of transport process can be carried out in several stages.

Opis:
This paper presents a model for the management of passenger service operations at airports by the estimation of a global index of the level of service. This paper presents a new approach to the scheduling of resources required to perform passenger service operations at airports. The approach takes into account the index of level of service as a quantitative indicator that can be associated with airport revenues. Taking this index into account makes it possible to create an operating schedule of desks, adapted to the intensity of checking-in passengers, and, as such, to apply dynamic process management. This offers positive aspects, particularly the possibility of improvement of service quality that directly translates into profits generated by the non-aeronautical activity of airports. When talking about level of service, there can be distinguish other important indicators that are considered very often (eg maximum queuing time, space in square meters). In this model, however, they are considered as secondary. Of course, space in square meters is important when designing a system. Here this system is already built and functioning. The concept of the model is the use of a hybrid method: computer simulation (Monte Carlo simulation) with multiple regression. This paper focuses on the presentation of a mathematical model used to determine the level of service index that provides new functionality in the current simulation model, as presented in the authors’ previous scientific publications. The mathematical model is based on a multiple regression function, taking into account the significance of individual elementary operations of passenger service at an air terminal.

Opis:
A metaheuristic proposed by us recently, Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) hybridized with socio-cognitive inspirations, turned out to generate interesting results compared to classic ACO. Even though it does not always find better solutions to the considered problems, it usually finds sub-optimal solutions usually. Moreover, instead of a trial-and-error approach to configure the parameters of the ant species in the population, in our approach, the actual structure of the population emerges from predefined species-to-species ant migration strategies. Experimental results of our approach are compared against classic ACO and selected socio-cognitive versions of this algorithm.

Opis:
In a hairy root culture of Tanacetum parthenium treated with yeast extract (YE), silver nitrate (AgNO3) and microalgal glycoproteins (MGPS), contents of four spiroketal enol ether type diacetylenes were mesured. The elicitors transiently reduced contents of three constitutive spiroketal enol ethers and selectively enhanced accumulation of cis-C13-spiroketal enol ether epoxide ((E)-3,4-epoxy-2-(2,4-hexadiynylidene)-1,6-dioxaspiro[4.4]nonane) in the roots. The most abundant formation of cis-C13-spiroketal enol ether epoxide was observed after 48-96 h of AgNO3 treatment and 96 h of YE treatment (over 3-fold increase compared with the control). The applied elicitors caused enhanced liberation of cis-C13-spiroketal enol ether epoxide to the culture medium. The results show that diacetylene accumulation pattern in the elicited hairy roots is affected in a similar manner, irrespectively of the elicitor applied.

Opis:
Bordetella avium, the causing agent of bordetellosis, a highly contagious infection of the respiratory tract in young poultry, causes significant losses in poultry farming throughout the world. Wildlife birds can be a reservoir of various pathogens that infect farm animals. For this reason the studies were conducted to estimate the prevalence of Bordetella avium in wildlife birds in Poland. Tracheal swab samples were collected from 650 birds representing 27 species. The bacterial DNA was isolated directly from the swabs and screened for Bordetella avium by TaqMan real-time PCR. The assay specificity was evaluated by testing DNA isolated from 8 other bacteria that can be present in avian respiratory tract, and there was no amplification from non-Bordetella avium agents. Test sensitivity was determined by preparing standard tenfold serial dilutions of DNA isolated from positive control. The assay revealed to be sensitive, with detection limit of approximately 4.07x10^2 copies of Bordetella avium DNA. The genetic material of Bordetella avium was found in 54.54% of common pheasants, in 9.09% of Eurasian coots, in 3.22% of black-headed gulls and in 2.77% of mallard ducks. The results of this study point to low prevalence of Bordetella avium infections in wildlife birds. The results also show that described molecular assay proved to be suitable for the rapid diagnosis of bordetellosis in the routine diagnostic laboratory.

Opis:
The present study investigated the drug-resistance to the selected antibiotics in Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium and beta-haemolytic coagulase-positive staphylococci isolated from pigeons bred in Poland. In the case of E. coli, tetracyclines and amoxicillin were least effective. In the staphylococci, the highest resistance was detected for oxytetracycline and quinolones and 5% were resistant to methicillin. The lowest drug-resistance was reported for Salmonella typhimurium.
