Opis:
In arid and semiarid regions, soil salinity causes the salt stress in plants and negatively affects the crop production. In this respect, organic farming practices are becoming the foreground as applications that are sensitive to the environment and support sustainability in agriculture. This study aimed to explain the role of vermicompost (VC) for reducing the effect of salt stress on lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. crispa) plant. The experiments were performed with different concentrations of VC (0, 2.5 and 5% VC on a weight per weight basis of soil-w/w) and salt stress treatments (4 and 8 dS m–1 NaCl levels). Under salt stress, shoot height, relative water content (RWC), stomatal conductance (gs), chlorophyll a (Chla) content decreased, while electrolyte leakage (EL), malondialdehyde (MDA) contents and superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities significantly increased in parallel with the severity of the stress. In this study, VC under the salinity stress significantly increased the RWC, gs and Chla, Chlt and carotenoid contents in the leaf tissues; however, MDA and EL contents decreased and SOD and CAT activities increased compared to the controls. In all levels of NaCl, the 5% ratio of VC significantly reduced the negative effects of salinity.

Opis:
In this paper, we investigate the combined effect of internal heating and time periodic gravity modulation in a viscoelastic fluid saturated porous medium by reducing the problem into a complex non-autonomous Ginzgburg-Landau equation. Weak nonlinear stability analysis has been performed by using power series expansion in terms of the amplitude of gravity modulation, which is assumed to be small. The Nusselt number is obtained in terms of the amplitude for oscillatory mode of convection. The influence of viscoelastic parameters on heat transfer has been discussed. Gravity modulation is found to have a destabilizing effect at low frequencies and a stabilizing effect at high frequencies. Finally, it is found that overstability advances the onset of convection, more with internal heating. The conditions for which the complex Ginzgburg-Landau equation undergoes Hopf bifurcation and the amplitude equation undergoes supercritical pitchfork bifurcation are studied.

A comprehensive checklist of the genus Impatiens Riv. ex L. (Balsaminaceae) in Nilgiri and Palani of southern Western Ghats, India is presented. After thorough field explorations in these areas from 2012 to 2020 in different seasons, 38 species of Impatiens are recorded, in which 6 species are endemic to Western Ghats and 26 species are endemic to southern Western Ghats of India. Horticultural potential of 18 endemic species of balsam is also discussed.
W artykule zamieszczono obszerną listę gatunków z rodzaju Impatiens Riv. ex L. (Balsaminaceae), odnotowanych w Nilgiris i na Wzgórzach Palanis (południowa część Ghatów Zachodnich w Indiach). A weakly nonlinear thermal instability is investigated under rotation speed modulation. Using the perturbation analysis, a nonlinear physical model is simplified to determine the convective amplitude for oscillatory mode. A non-autonomous complex Ginzburg-Landau equation for the finite amplitude of convection is derived based on a small perturbed parameter. The effect of rotation is found either to stabilize or destabilize the system. The Nusselt number is obtained numerically to present the results of heat transfer. It is found that modulation has a significant effect on heat transport for lower values of ωf while no effect for higher values. It is also found that modulation can be used alternately to control the heat transfer in the system. Further, oscillatory mode enhances heat transfer rather than stationary mode.

Opis:
The present paper deals with a weakly nonlinear stability problem under an imposed time-periodic thermal modulation. The temperature has two parts: a constant part and an externally imposed time-dependent part. We focus on stationary convection using the slow time scale and quantify convective amplitude through the real Ginzburg-Landau equation (GLE). We have used the classical fourth order Runge-Kutta method to solve the real Ginzburg-Landau equation. The effect of various parameters on heat transport is discussed through GLE. It is found that heat transport analysis is controlled by suitably adjusting the frequency and amplitude of modulation. The applied magnetic field (effect of Ha) is to diminish the heat transfer in the system. Three different types of modulations thermal, gravity, and magnetic field have been compared. It is concluded that thermal modulation is more effective than gravity and magnetic modulation. The magnetic modulation stabilizes more and gravity modulation stabilizes partially than thermal modulation.

Opis:
The effect of vertical throughfow and temperature modulation on a viscoelastic fluid saturated porous medium has been investigated. The amplitudes of temperature modulation at the lower and upper surfaces are considered to be very small and the disturbances are expanded in terms of power series of amplitude of convection. A weak nonlinear stability analysis has been performed for the oscillatory mode of convection, and heat transport in terms of the Nusselt number, which is governed by the non autonomous complex Ginzburg- Landau equation, is calculated. The effect of vertical through flow is found to stabilize the system irrespective of the direction of through flow in the case of permeable boundary conditions. The time relaxation has a destabilizing effect, while the time retardation parameter has a stabilizing effect on the system. The effects of amplitude and frequency of modulation on heat transport have been analyzed and depicted graphically. The study shows that the heat transport can be controlled effectively by a mechanism that is external to the system. Further, it is also found that heat transfer is more in oscillatory mode of convection rather than in stationary mode of convection.
