    Paweł Evdokimov (1901-1970) to jeden z najważniejszych współczesnych teologów prawosławnych. W jego pracach znajdujemy bardzo ważne, inspirujące i prorocze intuicje antropologiczne. Jego antropologia zbudowana jest wokół pojęć: „imago Dei”, ciało-dusza-duch, biblijne serce, osoba, teandryzm, miłość oraz wolność. Człowiek jako osoba ludzka realizuje się poprzez w wolności rozpoznany i przyjęty dar ikoniczności. Doskonałym Obrazem jest wcielony Syn. Wierzący w Jezusa Chrystusa realnie uczestniczy w Jego synostwie oraz wolności, która urzeczywistnia się przez miłość.
    Paul Evdokimov (1901-1970) is one of the most important contemporary Orthodox theologians. His works feature very important, inspiring and prophetic anthropological intuitions. His anthropology is built around the following concepts: imago Dei, body-soul-spirit, biblical heart, person, theandrism, love and freedom. Man as a human person fulfills himself in freedom through the recognized and accepted gift of iconicity. The perfect Image is the incarnate Son. Believers in Jesus Christ participate in a real manner in His sonship and freedom that is realized through love.

    Papież Franciszek wielokrotnie w swoich wypowiedziach komentował ewangelicznych Osiem błogosławieństw. Ukazuje się w nich nie tylko niezwykła postać Jezusa Chrystusa, ale także obraz spełnionego, szczęśliwego człowieka. Jest to człowiek Boży, uczeń ubogiego Mistrza, stworzony dla wspólnoty i międzyosobowych relacji, paschalnej drogi, twórczej i zaangażowanej miłości, znak sprzeciwu i eschatycznej nadziei. Obecny w błogosławieństwach obraz człowieka papież ukazuje jako propozycję dojrzałego człowieczeństwa adekwatny dla wszystkich ludzi naszych czasów.
    Pope Francis has repeatedly commented on the evangelical Eight Beatitudes in his statements. They show not only the extraordinary figure of Jesus Christ, but also the image of a fulfilled, happy man. He is a man of God, a disciple of the poor Master, created for community and interpersonal relationships, for the paschal path, creative and committed love, a sign of contradiction and eschatic hope. The Pope shows the image of man present in the Beatitudes as a proposal of mature humanity, adequate for all people of our time.

    Aleksander Schmemann (1921-1983) należy do najważniejszych współczesnych myślicieli prawosławnych, którzy tworzyli na emigracji we Francji oraz w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Eucharystia: misterium Kościoła to ostatnie dzieło tego wybitnego myśliciela. Stanowi ciąg rozmyślań poświęconych Eucharystii, będących świadectwem i owocem ponad trzydziestoletniej pracy tego prawosławnego duchownego jako duszpasterza, wykładowcy, pisarza. Niniejszy tekst podejmuje wybrane wątki z jego teologii eucharystycznej. Po pierwsze, w Eucharystii urzeczywistnia się Kościół jako zgromadzenie zwołane przez Zmartwychwstałego Pana. Po drugie, Święta Liturgia jest misterium królestwa Bożego. Po trzecie, Eucharystia jest sakramentem jedności.
    Alexander Schmemann (1921-1983) is one of the most important contemporary Orthodox thinkers active in exile in France and the United States. The Eucharist: Sacrament of the Kingdom is the last work of this outstanding thinker. It is a series of refl ections devoted to the Eucharist, which are a testimony and the fruit of over thirty years of his work as a priest, lecturer, and writer. This text takes up selected themes from his eucharistic theology. Firstly, the Eucharist is where the Church is realized as a gathering called together by the Risen Lord. Secondly, the Holy Liturgy is the mystery of the Kingdom of God. Thirdly, the Eucharist is the sacrament of unity.

    Josef Ratzinger has made the problem of the solid foundations of European humanism one of the most important in his scientific and pastoral work. Called to the Holy See, he chose the name Benedict XVI, indicating the Saint Abbot of Nursia as the special patron of his pontificate. In this study two valuable statements of Pope Ratzinger are discussed, showing the relationship between European humanism and Benedictine monasticism. The first is the speech of Benedict XVI during a meeting with people active in culture at the Bernardine College in Paris on September 12, 2008. The second is the text Crisis of cultures, in which the Pope pensioner presents Abbot Benedict and his way of life as an adequate response to the contemporary crisis of European humanism. To seek God in the first place, to sensitize conscience to trueness, showing the paths of freedom, which advocates good and beauty, is the calling of Benedictine monks and at the same time, a necessary condition for integral humanism, the creative development of European culture.
    Josef Ratzinger problem trwałych fundamentów europejskiego humanizmu uczynił jednym z najważniejszych w swojej pracy naukowej i duszpasterskiej. Powołany na Stolicę Piotrową wybrał imię Benedykta XVI, wskazując świętego Opata z Nursji jako szczególnego patrona swojego pontyfikatu. W opracowaniu omówiono dwie cenne wypowiedzi papieża Ratzingera ukazujące relacje pomiędzy europejskim humanizmem a benedyktyńskim monastycyzmem. Pierwszą z nich jest przemówienie Benedykta XVI wygłoszone w czasie spotkania z ludźmi kultury w Kolegium Bernardynów w Paryżu 12 września 2008 r. Drugą jest tekst Kryzys kultur, w którym papież emeryt przedstawia opata Benedykta i jego sposób życia jako adekwatną odpowiedź na współczesny kryzys humanizmu europejskiego. Poszukiwać na pierwszym miejscu Boga, uwrażliwiać sumienia na wierność prawdzie, wskazywać drogi wolności, która opowiada się za dobrem i pięknem, to powołanie benedyktyńskich mnichów a zarazem konieczny warunek integralnego humanizmu, twórczego rozwoju kultury europejskiej.

    The subject of the article is the theological anthropology which is pointed in the first encyclical „Deus caritas est” written by Pope Benedict XVI. In his encyclical the Holy Father focuses on the most essential „reality” in the Church - Love. He wrote the encyclical as a classic apologetic discourse. The pope dialogues with the non-christian thoughts - the ancient thought and the modem thought (Frederic Nietzsche and Carol Marks). The pope speaks about Love. At the same time, he presents the Christian image of man and man’s vocation. The newness and authentic of Christian love is really connected with the Christian image of Triune God, God who is Love. The radical newness of Christian understanding of God is the groundwork o f understanding the man and man’s vocation. This is the man who lives in - important for his identity - relation to God and another man. The man as „I” realizes in a community „we”. The man „in relation” is the image of God. In the encyclical the vision of man is through theological, christological and trinitarian. It is the vision of man who is called to live in a community (communion). And the vision realizes in the community of Church called community of love.

    In September 2006, a symposium on the subject of creation–evolution was held in Castel Gandolfo. It was an opportunity to present the views of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI on the theory of evolution. At the same time, the Pope pointed to the fundamental “truth” of Christianity. It is rooted in the creative Divine Logos made manifest in Jesus Christ. In many of his texts, Joseph Ratzinger patiently recalls the “rationality”, “logicality” of all creation, especially of man and human cognition. He pays special attention to the uniqueness of Catholic faith and theology, which is expressed in its rationality. The thought of the German theologian captivates with its accuracy, logic and precision. Hence the suggestion of this paper. It presents three important texts, published at different times, on the subject of the “logic” of the Catholic faith.

    The question of understanding man is the key one in the theological output of Rev. Wacław Hryniewicz, one of the outstanding contemporary Polish theologians. For about twenty years he has been identified as a great promoter of Christian hope, understood as the hope for universal salvation. This universal concept of hope contains a particular vision of both God and an individual. The Lublin scholar is convinced that an authentic anthropological reflection should be inspired by the central truth of Christianity, which is the Passover. This truth pervades all the dimensions of human life and all man’s actions. That is why Hryniewicz defines his theology of man as paschal theology. In the deep mystery of the Passover Christ is a great commentator of the mystery of man. The gift of being human, the way towards its fullness and renewal is particularly related to the gift of the Holy Spirit that is present and acts within the mystery of the Church. Influenced by the Eastern Christianity tradition, Hryniewicz much emphasizes the pneumatological dimension of the mystery of the new existence an individual receives within the Church.
