Tłumacze tekstów specjalistycznych korzystają często z wielojęzycznych baz terminologicznych w celu znalezienia właściwego odpowiednika tłumaczonych terminów. Takie bazy danych składają się z haseł terminologicznych. Każde hasło terminologiczne składa się z kolei z terminów (w różnych językach), które odnoszą się do tego samego konceptu. Przykłady zaczerpnięte ze studium porównawczego terminów i ich tłumaczenia w europejskich tekstach źródłowych i docelowych oraz z europejskiej bazy terminologicznej ,,IATE” (,,InterActive Terminology for Europe”) wykazały, że tłumacze w niektórych przypadkach wybierają ekwiwalenty, które nie pojawiają się w ogóle w hasłach terminologicznych. Na podstawie powyższych obserwacji, jak również w oparciu o kontrastywne badania korpusowe została sformułowana propozycja zmian, które w przyszłości mogłyby ulepszyć funkcjonowanie terminologicznych baz danych dla tłumaczy.

Vertalers van gespecialiseerde teksten raadplegen vaak meertalige terminologiedatabases om geschikte equivalenten te vinden voor de te vertalen termen. Dergelijke databases bestaan uit conceptgeoriënteerde terminologische fiches. Elk terminologisch fiche bestaat uit termen (in verschillende talen) die verwijzen naar hetzelfde concept. We zullen aan de hand van voorbeelden uit een vergelijkende studie van termen en hun vertalingen in Europese bron- en doelteksten en in de Europese terminologiedatabase ‘IATE’ illustreren dat vertalers soms vertalingen voorstellen die niet verschijnen in conceptgeoriënteerde terminologische fiches. Uitgaande van deze observatie zullen we nadenken over hoe toekomstige terminologiedatabases voor vertalers kunnen worden gestructureerd en verrijkt met resultaten uit contrastief corpusgebaseerd onderzoek.
Translators of specialised texts often consult multilingual terminology databases to find suitable equivalents for terms that they need to translate. Such databases are comprised of concept-oriented terminological records. Each terminological record consists of terms (in several languages) that refer to the same concept. We will illustrate on the basis of examples taken from a comparative study of terms and their translations in European source and target texts and in the European terminology database ‘IATE’ that translators sometimes propose translations that do not appear on concept-oriented terminological records. Starting from this observation, we will reflect on how future terminology databases for translators could be structured and enriched with results from contrastive corpus-based research. - Źródło:
