Opis:
Purpose: Drawing on social exchange theory (SET), this study explores the mediating role of quiescent silence as a link between organizational stressors and turnover intentions among Russian frontline employees (FLEs). Furthermore, we aim to investigate whether coworker support moderates the relationship between quiescent silence and turnover intentions. Research Methods: The study is a cross-sectional survey administered among a sample of 235 FLEs employed in Russian healthcare organizations. We analyzed the data with SmartPLS version 3.0. Findings: The results reveal that ethical conflict and abusive supervision are significantly related to quiescent silence. Quiescent silence mediates the relationship between abusive supervision, ethical conflict, and employee turnover intentions. Managerial Implications: There is a need to provide employees with opportunities to voice their opinions. However, what is crucial is the assurance of employee privacy while motivating them to voice opinions. Managers should be more proactive in diagnosing silence. Originality: This is the first study to explore the mediating role of quiescent silence on the relationship between organizational stressors and employee turnover intentions in a unique Russian healthcare context. The moderating role of coworker support to buffer the relationship between quiescent silence and turnover intentions is unique to this study.

Opis:
An extensively used fluoroquinolone antibiotic ciprofloxacin shows a broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative strains. It works mainly by the inhibition of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV which results in impaired DNA replication leading towards microbial cell death. Eryptosis is an alternative term used for suicidal erythrocyte death. In current study, eryptotic effect of ciprofloxacin was investigated by exposing erythrocytes for 48 hours to the different concentrations (45-90µM) of ciprofloxacin. The experimental work related to the investigation of eryptosis was done by cell size measurement and confirmation of calcium role in membrane blebbing. As a possible mechanism of eryptosis, oxidative stress induced by ciprofloxacin was determined by catalase, glutathion peroxidase and superoxide dismutase activities measurement. Similarly, necrotic effect of ciprofloxacin was also illustrated by hemolysis measurement. Results of our study revealed that the therapeutical doses of ciprofloxacin may induce oxidative stress by significant decrease in superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase activities as well as induce eryptosis, featured by erythrocytes membrane blebbing and hemolysis.

Opis:
The use of form tools is growing in industry, owing to their inherent advantage of improving productivity. However, the accurate formation of form tool profile is a really tedious task. In this research work, wire electric discharge machining (WEDM) process has been used for the generation of a form tool. Pulse on-time, pulse off-time, servo voltage, wire tension, flushing pressure have been considered as input parameters, whereas tool geometry (clearance angle, included angle), surface roughness and material removal rate are the selected responses. Response surface methodology (RSM) (Box Bhenken experimental design) technique has been used for design of experiments. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) has shown that pulse on-time and pulse off-time are the two influential control factors for material removal rate (MRR), surface roughness (Ra), clearance angle and included angle. Contour plot analysis has been performed to find out the optimal ranges of the most influential control factors for each response characteristics.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of research on the utilization of textile denim sludge waste, which was used to obtain concrete and mortar. For this purpose, cement and sand were replaced with the powdered sludge in the amount of 5 and 10 wt. The sludge was initially analyzed by FTIR and XRD to identify functional groups and chemical composition, respectively. Replacing sand with sludge resulted in a significant reduction in the concrete compressive and flexural strength (> 50%). Significantly better results were obtained by replacing cement with 5 wt% of sludge. In this case, the concrete compressive strength decreased by only 14%, and the flexural strength by 15%.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczące utylizacji odpadów szlamowych z dżinsu tekstylnego, których użyto do otrzymywania betonu i zaprawy murarskiej. W tym celu cement i piasek zastąpiono sproszkowanym szlamem w ilości odpowiednio 5 i 15% mas. Osad poddano wstępnej analizie za pomocą FTIR i XRD w celu zidentyfikowania odpowiednio grup funkcyjnych i składu chemicznego osadu. Zastąpienie piasku szlamem spowodowało znaczne zmniejszenie wytrzymałości betonu na ściskanie i zginanie (> 50%). Znacznie lepsze wyniki uzyskano zastepując cement szlamem. W tym przypadku wytrzymałość betonu na ściskanie zmniejszyła się tylko o 14%, a wytrzymałość na zginanie o 15%.

Opis:
Minimal neighbour designs (NDs) are used when a response of a treatment (direct effect) is affected by the treatment(s) applied in the neighbouring units. Minimal generalised NDs are preferred when minimal NDs cannot be constructed. Through the method of cyclic shifts (Rule I), the conditions for the existence of minimal circular generalised NDs are discussed, in which v/2 unordered pairs do not appear as neighbours. Certain generators are also developed to obtain minimal circular generalised NDs in blocks of two different sizes, where k2 = 3, 4 and 5. All these designs are constructed using i sets of shifts for k1 and two for k2.

Opis:
Xanthan gum-based hydrogel formulation FXG3 was prepared by a free radical polymerization technique. To assess safety of FXG3 hydrogel for potential application as new drug delivery system, a single oral dose toxicity study was conducted according to OECD guidelines. Female adult rats of Wistar strain were divided into group A and group B. Group A served as the control and was given 1mL/100 g body weight 0.9% saline. Group B received a dose of 5g/kg body weight of FXG3 hydrogel. Rats were observed continuously for 14 days for clinical signs, and prior to terminal sacrifice, blood samples were taken to assess for haematology and biochemical parameters. Selected organs (heart, liver, lung, kidneys, spleen, and stomach) were removed and examined macroscopically, washed, sliced and stained with haematoxylin-eosin for histopathological investigation. No mortality or any signs of acute toxicity was observed during the observation period. No macroscopic alteration was found in the selected organs. Histopathological examination did not show any pathological changes. Thus, the maximal tolerated dose of FXG3 was calculated to be higher than 5g/kg body weight. It can be concluded that FXG3, a xanthan gum-based hydrogel formulation, was non-toxic after acute oral administration at 5g/kg body weight, and thus may be a promising candidate in controlled drug delivery system.
