Opis:
In this research, a new method for automatic detection and classification of suspected breast cancer lesions using ultrasound images is proposed. In this fully automated method, de-noising using fuzzy logic and correlation among ultrasound images taken from different angles is used. Feature selection using combination of sequential backward search, sequential forward search and distance-based methods is obtained. A new segmentation method based on automatic selection of seed points and region growing is proposed and classification of lesions into two malignant and benign classes using combination of AdaBoost, Artificial Neural Network and Fuzzy Support Vector Machine classifiers and majority voting is implemented.

Opis:
In the present work, a numerical study on the free-convective heat transfer in a porous media cavity with a wavy boundary was carried out. The validation was done by comparing the results with the experimental data. The cavity inclination angle, material of nanofluid, nanoparticles volume fraction, the Rayleigh number, and porosity of the medium are the parameters which are investigated in this study. Results suggested that, due to the thermophysical properties of Cu particles in water, the heat transfer rate was increased for Cu-Water nanofluid in comparison to Al2O3-Water nanofluid, while the heat transfer rate decreased by increasing the volume fraction of nanoparticles. Numerical results showed that the Rayleigh number has significant effect on the heat transfer rate so that increase in the Rayleigh number from 100 to 10 000 increased the averaged Nusselt number between 2 to 3 times. The effect of porosity on heat transfer proved that the convective heat transfer rate increased with increasing the porosity of the porous medium. The effect of inclination angle of cavity on the heat transfer rate suggested that the optimum angle of cavity causing the highest heat transfer rate from wavy wall is 45°.

Opis:
Graphs $G$ and $H$ are called cospectral if they have the same characteristic polynomial. If eigenvalues are integral, then corresponding graphs are called integral graph. In this article we introduce a construction to produce pairs of cospectral integral regular graphs. Generalizing the construction of $ G_4(a, b)$ and $G_5(a, b)$ due to Wang and Sun, we define graphs \( \mathcal{G}_4(G,H) \) and \( \mathcal{G}_5(G,H)\) and show that they are cospectral integral regular when $G$ is an integral q-regular graph of order $m$ and $H$ is an integral q-regular graph of order $(b − 2)m$ for some integer $b \ge 3$.

Opis:
Life table studies are essential tools for understanding population dynamics. The life table parameters of Aphis gossypii Glover (Hemiptera: Aphididae) feeding on the host plant, Hibiscus syriacus L. were studied under laboratory (25±1°C and relative humidity of 65±5% and a photoperiod of 16L : 8D h) and field conditions (23–43°C, and relative humidity of 27–95%). The data were analysed using the age-stage, two-sex life table theory. The life table studies were started with 50 and 40 nymphs in laboratory and field conditions, respectively. Under laboratory conditions, A. gossypii reared on H. syriacus had a higher survival rate, fecundity, and longevity than those reared under field conditions. When reared under field conditions, A. gossypii had a longer nymphal developmental time, shorter adult longevity, and lower fecundity than those reared under laboratory conditions. The intrinsic rate of increase (r), net reproductive rate (R0), and the finite rate of increase (λ) under laboratory conditions, were higher than those obtained under field conditions. Nevertheless, there were no significant differences in the mean generation time T (days) between field and laboratory conditions. In the present study, the results clearly showed that life table parameters of A. gossypii were significantly different under field and laboratory conditions. These results could help us to understand the A. gossypii population dynamics under field conditions. The results could also help us make better management decisions for economically important crops.

Opis:
We report the first case of chafer beetle [Anisoplia austriaca (Herbst 1783)] mortality caused by Actinomucor elegans var. elegans in wheat fields of the Kurdistan province, Iran. For three years, dead larvae of Anisoplia austriaca were collected from wheat fields of the Kurdistan province. Similar isolates of a fast-growing fungus were recovered from all samples. The fungal isolates were identified as A. elegans var. elegans based on morphological and cultural characteristics. The identity of the species was further confirmed using sequence data of the ITS (Internal Transcribed Spacer) region of ribosomal DNA. Koch’s postulates were fulfilled by the inoculation of the larvae of A. austriaca and Galleria mellonella (Linnaeus, 1758) (as the model insect) using the spore suspension of A. elegans var. elegans. The viability of sporangiospores was evaluated using a spore dilution technique on germination medium. The results on the pathogenicity (100% mortality in A. austriaca larvae) and viability tests (germination: 95.45%) demonstrated that A. elegans var. elegans can be considered as a potential biocontrol agent against the chafer beetle. Field experiments are still required to evaluate the capacity of A. elegans as a biological control agent.
