    AIM The aim of the work was to examine the influence of PNF-therapy (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation therapy) based rehabilitation on the improvement process of motor impairment in patients after ischemic stroke located in the left hemisphere. Our study was carried out in K. Gibiński Central Clinic Hospital of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice-Ligota. MATERIALS AND METHODS The research subjects were represented by a group of 20 patients (15 female and 5 male) aged 49–86 years, hospitalized in the abovementioned facility. Physical therapy in a stroke department begins (in the first 24 h) withcomprehensive evaluation of motor function, mobility, balance, coordination, sensation, and proprioception. Tests used to measures them include: Lovett scale, Brunnstom scale, Rankin scale, Up and Go Test and the Functional Reach Test. Goals that are measurable and realistic were set by the doctors and rehabilitation team, and were reevaluated in the last 24 h before discharge. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS The results of our study indicate that a PNF-therapy based rehabilitation program helps in promoting the recovery of muscle strength, preventing complications due to disabilities and improves adapting to activities of dailyliving.
    WSTĘP Celem pracy było sprawdzenie wpływu postępowania rehabilitacyjnego z zastosowaniem koncepcji PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) na proces usprawniania motorycznego pacjentów po niedokrwiennym udarze mózgu zlokalizowanym w lewej półkuli. Badania przeprowadzono w Samodzielnym Publicznym Centralnym Szpitalu Klinicznym SUM w Katowicach Ligocie (SPCSK SUM). MATERIAŁ I METODY Materiał badawczy stanowiła grupa 20 hospitalizowanych pacjentów (15 kobiet i 5 mężczyzn) w wieku od 49 do 86 lat. Do weryfikacji procesu badawczego wykorzystano skale: Brunnstom, Rankina i Test Lovetta oraz testy funkcjonalne: Up and Go Test i Functional Reach Test. Badania przeprowadzono w ciągu pierwszych 24 godzin po zakwalifikowaniu pacjenta na Pododdział Udarowy Oddziału Neurologii SP CSK SUM oraz w ciągu ostatnich 24 godzin przebywania badanych na oddziale, po przeprowadzonym procesie usprawniania motorycznego. WYNIKI Wszystkie przeprowadzone testy wykazały poprawę zarówno w zakresie siły mięśniowej, napięcia mięśniowego, jak i odzyskania sprawności w codziennych czynnościach.

The evolution of the phenomenon occurring during the French Revolution. At that time, at the time of dissolution of the army Bourbon and the formation of battalions of volunteers, their number in the ranks of the French a significant increase. Along with her husband, brother, father, sometimes also with a lover, they leave their provincial town, going to the front line. Then she tried, as long as possible to be under the banner of the Republic, demonstrating its usefulness for the defenders of the homeland. Then it completely took over the trade, liquor, supplied various small objects such as combs, mirrors. It is worth noting that in a bad provisioning the army – in which there was often hungry – not soldiers by providing food was not to be underestimated. It is sutlers, pulling his troops in cars supplied with food, as well as the alcohol is required for all medical procedures. Both the revolutionary authorities, as well as afterwards by Napoleon himself tried to limit the number of women in the military. For this purpose, are introduced various regulatory constraints, such as they had to prove ownership of their profession. Position of women in the French army has changed only with the battle of Austerlitz, in which distinguished themselves in active combat on the battlefield, and since 1807, the Poles found themselves in the ranks of Napoleon gave evidence of his extraordinary courage. Among them, the most famous Polish sutlers were: Helena Kurdwanówna and Joanna śubrowa. The major wars of Napoleon, in which the Poles played a big role in the campaign include Spanish, war in 1809 and 1812.

    Introduction. Gestation is a very sensitive time both to mother and child. Any substance, factor, or environmental condition disturbing homeostasis may cause congenital defects, anomalies or even death. Teratology evaluates those potential factors and their influence. Also, medicinal products used during pregnancy may be teratogenic. Adriblastin, also known as Doxorubicin, and Bleomycin are widely used cytostatic drugs in oncology. Aim. Aim of this study was to evaluate the embryotoxic effects of Doxorubicin and Bleomycin in an animal model. Materials and methods. Fertilised Wistar rat females were given each drug intraperitoneally between the 8th and 15th gestation day, and compared to control group receiving placebo (distilled water, 0.9% NaCl). Another group received acetyl salicylic acid, as a model, well known teratogen. Changes in mothers’ weight from baseline, implantation of embryos, any discrepancies in mothers wombs and health as well as defects in fetuses were evaluated and compared. Fetus skeletons were stained by Dowson’s method to visualise bone defects. Results and conclusion. Both Adriblastin and Bleomycin were teratogenic, producing significantly more embryo absorptions, and fetal defects compared to placebo. The effects of the two cytostatics were similar to the model teratogen acetyl salicylic acid.
