Opis:: For the first time a molecule of 2-(4-styrylphenyl)benzoxazole containing benzoxazole and stilbene groups is applied as a scintillator dopant acting as a wavelength shifter. In this article a light yield of the plastic scintillator, prepared from styrene doped with 2 wt% of 2,5-diphenylbenzoxazole and 0.03 wt% of 2-(4-styrylphenyl)benzoxazole, is determined to be as large as 60% ± 2% of the anthracene light output. There is a potential to improve this value in the future by the optimization of the additives concentrations.

Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono analizę wyników ankiety przeprowadzonej wśród młodych studentów kierowców. Respondenci mieli prawa jazdy nie dłużej niż 3 lata. Wyniki potwierdzają, że wprowadzenie dodatkowych praktycznych kursów dla młodych kierowców jest potrzebne do dalszego doskonalenia.
The results of questionnaire between young student drivers are presented. The responders having drivers license no more than 3 years. The results suggested, that the participation in the practical training, for young drivers could be very important for more experience.

Opis:: The paper presents issues concerning the range of data stored by the digital tachographs and driver cards. Also the possibilities of them being used by transport enterprises have been analysed. The analysis has been conducted according to the EU legislative requirements and Polish legislative acts, determining driver work time limits. The capabilities of the devices for data down loading from the digital tachographs and driver cards, available in Europe and Poland, have been described. A particular emphasis has been put on the tachoscan set developed by PC Net Service firm together with the Motor Transport institute, presenting fragments of the analysis carried out and printouts. Furthermore, the influence of using digital tachographs on the traffic participants' safety has been discussed. In order to visualise that impact, the statistics were presented of the road accidents caused by motor vehicles. Implementation of the system of digital tachographs should contribute for enforcing of the fair competition rules of Polish, European Union and other contractors of the international road transport. Ranges and data values registered by the tachograph are sufficient for supervisory targets, however the manner of the calculation of the driving time, introduced in paper, is logical, simple and logically reasonable.
W referacie scharakteryzowano zagadnienia, dotyczące zakresu danych, przechowywanych przez tachografy cyfrowe i karty kierowców oraz dokonano analizy możliwości ich wykorzystania przez przedsiębiorstwa transportowe. Analiza została przeprowadzona zgodnie z wymaganiami legislacyjnymi Unii Europejskiej oraz polskimi przepisami prawnymi, określającymi limity czasu pracy kierowców. Opisano możliwości urządzeń do pobierania danych z tachografów cyfrowych oraz kart kierowców, dostępnych w Europie oraz Polsce. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na zestaw tachoscan, opracowany przez firmę PC Net Sernice oraz Instytut Transportu Samochodowego, przedstawiając fragmenty wykonanych analiz i wydruków. Ponadto omówiono wpływ stosowania tachografów cyfrowych na bezpieczeństwo uczestników ruchu drogowego. W celu zilustrowania tego wpływu przedstawiono statystyki dotyczące liczby wypadków drogowych, powodowanych przez samochody. Wdrożenie systemu tachografów cyfrowych powinno przyczynić się do wzmocnienia zasad uczciwej konkurencji polskich, unijnych oraz innych przedsiębiorców międzynarodowego transportu drogowego. Zakresy i wartości danych rejestrowanych przez tachograf są wystarczające dla celów kontrolnych, natomiast sposób obliczania czasu jazdy, przedstawiony w artykule, jest logiczny, prosty i logicznie uzasadniony.

Opis:: J-PET analysis framework is a flexible, lightweight, ROOT-based software package which provides the tools to develop reconstruction and calibration procedures for PET tomography. In this article we present the implementation of the full data-processing chain in the J-PET framework which is used for the data analysis of the J-PET tomography scanner. The framework incorporates automated handling of PET setup parameters' database as well as high level tools for building data reconstruction procedures. Each of these components is briefly discussed.

Opis:: Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy has shown to be a powerful tool to study the nanostructures of porous materials. Positron emission tomograph is a device allowing imaging of metabolic processes e.g. in human bodies. A newly developed device, the Jagiellonian PET will allow positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy in addition to imaging, thus combining both analyses providing new methods for physics and medicine. In this contribution we present a computer program that is compatible with the Jagiellonian PET software. We compare its performance with the standard program LT 9.0 by using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy data from hexane measurements at different temperatures. Our program is based on an iterative procedure, and our fits prove that it performs as good as LT 9.0.

Opis:: The purpose of the study was to analyse the influence of the precision of a task on tension and fatigue of the trapezius and deltoid muscles. Ten young men took part in experiments. Different levels of force and different frequencies of pressing a button defined the precision of the task. Surface electromyography (EMG) was used. Muscle tension and fatigue were reflected by 2 parameters of the EMG signal: the Root Mean Square amplitude related to the maximum value and changes in the Median Power Frequency. The results showed that hand activities influence the descending part of the trapezius muscle and do not influence the deltoid muscle, and that the precision of work can influence the examined muscles of the arm and shoulder even during work in which only the hand is involved in a performed task.

Opis:: Investigations of the biofilm formation processes on biomaterials surfaces are focused on typical physiologic conditions - aerobic condition. In experimental works onto model strains, and also in the clinical reports there is a lack of the information related to the mechanisms engaged in biofilm grown under conditions of limited access to oxygen or in entirely anaerobic environment. Presented results show the colonization of medical steel 316L surface and creation of biofilm structures by E. coli bacteria’s, under oxygen deficit conditions or its total lack. In studied arrangement the change of the dynamics of bacterium growth was observed, which led to considerable slowdown of the biofilm development. Bacteria were observed with use of the combination of fluorescent dyes - bis-benzimide and propidium iodide – which makes it possible the distinction of live/death bacteria. In oxygen deficiency and in anaerobic conditions multiplication of death bacteria level in comparison to standard conditions was observed (suitably 34% and 41% dead cells, oxygenic conditions - 1%). The limitation of oxygen utilization possibility by the bacteria, which colonized investigated surfaces also resulted in decreased sizes reached by the cells.

Opis:: We show that conducting edge channels are formed in free standing wires of PbSe/BaF$\text{}_{2}$ and PbTe/BaF$\text{}_{2}$ as temperature is lowered. The effect results from spatially inhomogeneous strain caused by a difference between the thermal expansion coefficients of the epilayer and the substrate. The presence of the edge channels can explain anomalous mesoscopic effects observed previously in these wires.

Opis:: Microscopic four-contact probes to semimagnetic HgCdMnTe grain-boundary inversion layers have been photolithographically patterned. Magnetoresistance measurements performed on these samples revealed aperiodic conductance fluctuations of the magnitude of the order of e$\text{}^{2}$/h. Quantitative analysis of both fluctuation amplitude and their mean period indicate that we have approached the mesoscopic regime in our system. This opens new possibilities in studies of spin-subsystem dynamics in semimagnetic semiconductors.

Opis:: Precise magnetoresistance measurements on microstructures of photolithographically patterned PbSe epilayers have been performed in the magnetic field range up to 17 Τ. Unusually large, reproducible magnetoconductance fluctuations have been observed. The fluctuation amplitude decreases exponentially with the magnetic field. A correlation magnetic field of the fluctuations corresponds to the Aharonov-Bohm effect which involves electron trajectories much smaller than the electron mean free path. This points strongly to the ballistic, not diffusive, origin of the observed phenomenon.

Opis:: We present millikelvin studies of magnetoconductance in submicron wires of In-doped n$\text{}^{+}$-CdTe and n$\text{}^{+}$-Cd$\text{}_{0.99}$Mn$\text{}_{0.01}$Te epilayers. Weak-field magnetoresistance which arises from quantum localization as well as universal conductance fluctuations have been observed. The exchange coupling to magnetic impurities is shown to decrease the correlation field of the fluctuations. This novel effect is interpreted by invoking a new driving mechanism of the magnetoconductance fluctuations - the redistribution of the electrons between energy levels of the system, induced by the giant s-d spin-splitting of the electronic states.

Opis:: W pracy zbadano zdolność osadu czynnego do dekoloryzacji roztworów modelowych barwników azowych pochodnych kwasu Schäffera i soli R. Stwierdzono spadek efektywności usuwania barwnika z roztworu przy wprowadzeniu do cząsteczki dodatkowej grupy sulfonowej. Wprowadzenie reszty kwasu D-glukonowego do cząsteczki barwnika zwiększało stopień dekoloryzacji jego roztworu. Wzrost stężenia początkowego barwnika nie miał wpływu na stopień dekoloryzacji, powodował natomiast zwiększenie ilości barwnika zaadsorbowanego na powierzchni kłaczków osadu czynnego.
In this study the ability of activated sludge to perform the discoloration of solutions of azo dyes, Schäffer acid and R salt derivatives, was investigated. It was found that the efficiency of dye removal from solution decreased when an additional sulfonic group was introduced to the dye molecule. Modification of dye by introduction of the rest of D-gluconic acid improved the discoloration of the solution. The increase in the initial dye concentration had no effect on the degree of discoloration, but it caused the increase in the amount of dye adsorbed on the cell surface of the activated sludge.
