Opis:
A comprehensive study of electronic and magnetic properties of a recently synthesized nonametalic chromium-based heteronuclear molecule Cr₈CdF₉(O₂C-C(CH₃)₃)₁₈ is presented, using DFT and Falicov-Kimball (FK) model approach. The magnetic moments are calculated and the spin charge density map is discussed. The exchange coupling parameters between transition metals ions are extracted, taking into account all the nonequivalent spin configurations. It is demonstrated that the energies of the spin configurations can be reproduced by the FK model with a set of parameters consistent with that for the parent Cr8 molecule. For molecular ring considered, the ground state corresponds to the antiferromagnetic configuration and the ferromagnetic configuration yields the highest energy.

Opis:
Magnetic properties of $Pb[Cu(SO_4)(OH)_2]$ (linarite) natural single crystals were studied by magnetization and specific heat measurements. The angular dependences of magnetization were revealed which correlated with the regularities of the crystal structure. At about 2.8 K this quasi-one-dimensional Heisenberg system undergoes a phase transition to the long-range antiferromagnetic order with antiparallel magnetic moments aligned probably along the b-axis. The antiferromagnetic order is evidenced by the metamagnetic transition and pronounced λ-type anomaly at $T_N$ in the specific heat. Using phenomenological modeling based on a quantum transfer-matrix method, we argue that at higher temperatures linarite is a quasi-one-dimensional system with competing ferromagnetic nearest-neighbor and antiferromagnetic next-nearest-neighbor exchange interactions.

Opis:
The bimetallic chain complex [Cu(tren)]$ReCl_6$ is numerically analysed on the basis of the anisotropic quantum Heisenberg model without the mean-field corrections by the density-matrix renormalization group approach. The high accuracy results of our simulations have been fitted to the corresponding experimental susceptibility data above the crossover regime. The set of model parameters comprising the strength of antiferromagnetic couplings, the single-ion anisotropy term and the corresponding g factors have been found: J/$k_{B}$ = 3.5 ± 0.5 K, D/$k_{B}$ = 35 ± 5 K, $g_{Cu}$ = 2.07 ± 0.05 and $g_{Re}$ = 1.73 ± 0.01.

Opis:
The phase diagram of the Askhin-Teller model in two dimensions is determined. Numerical calculations are performed for the simple square L × L lattice using transfer matrix technique. Exploiting finite-size scaling all unknown critical lines were obtained with good accuracy. An extended version of the Ashkin-Teller model is also considered within the molecular field renormalization group method and the critical surface for three-parameter odd-parity Hamiltonian is calculated.

Due to state ownership of both free game and most forests in Poland, large hunting districts and low number of hunters, hunting in Polish hunting grounds provides an opportunity to encounter many animal species, often in their almost natural environment. The qualities of Poland’s fauna and flora as well as Poland’s accession to the EU and the resulting ease of movement have contributed to the development of hunt tourism. As a consequence, there has been a rise in the demand for services offered by rural areas inhabitants, which in turn should make local communities recognize the need to preserve the natural environment.

Opis:
Between 2009 and 2011, behaviour of 15 field roe deer living in agricultural landscape in western Poland was studied using the radio telemetry method. Observed animals were active during the entire day with two distinct peaks – at the dawn and at the dusk. Moreover, night activity was greater than the day one. Such activity pattern may result from frequent human presence in the field roe deer habitat. Throughout the year, the activity rate (locations of active roe deer/all locations ratio) was higher in the agricultural lands than in clumps and belts of trees, which the most likely was the consequence of availability of easily digestible food in the crop fields (during growing season as well as after its end). Furthermore, field roe deer activity in open farmlands was the subject to bigger changes – both during warm months and in the winter it was the highest during the lowest temperature. Such changes were not observed in mid−field places with trees. However, in such places the activity rate was higher during periods of snow cover than during snowless ones.

Parasites are the most common cause of disease in European roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), but prevalence of some invasions was smaller after a dry and hot summer. In the years 2015−2016, which were distinguished by exceptionally high temperature during summer months, the presence of nematodes and protozoa was assessed in the digestive tract of roe deer in western Poland. Studies confirmed that weather conditions may reduce gastrointestinal parasite prevalence in roe deer. In 2016, coccidiosis was not found in the examined species at all and in 2015 – it was rarely recorded. The reason for that could be the oocyst high exposure to sunlight as well as their drying as a consequence of high temperature and low precipitation. Such weather conditions also negatively affect other parasites when they are outside the host. Favourable environmental conditions for parasites probably occur more often in the forest than in the field, hence some gastrointestinal nematodes in the hot period were recorded only in roe deer in forest areas.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to collect information about the course and results of breeding of hand−reared grey partridges. In the years 1997 and 2000−2001, 15 released females were radiotagged in the second half of April and observed to the end of July in western Poland. A half of the hand−reared females died within first several days. No clear differences in the course of nesting between hand−reared and wild partridges were observed, both in the case of clutch sizes and nest locations, as well as in incubation start dates. However, none of the observed hand−reared females achieved breeding success because of their high mortality as well as clutch and chick losses. The main cause of losses during breeding season were carnivores.

The density series of the non-interacting hard-square lattice gas model are reanalyzed by the ratio, Dlog Padé and differential approximant methods. The problem of poor consistency between series and other results is resolved. Transfer matrix calculations are performed, implementing both finite-size scaling and conformal invariance. Very accurate estimates of the critical exponents y$\text{}_{t}$, and y$\text{}_{h}$ are obtained in agreement with Ising universality. Furthermore, an improvement of the value of the critical density ρ$\text{}_{c}$ is found. In addition, the universal critical-point ratios of the square of the second and the fourth moment of the magnetization for ferromagnetic Ising models on the square and on the triangular lattice with periodic boundary conditions are reported.

The self-consistency conditions inherent in the mean-field approximation are extended to take into account some pair correlations. Ii is shown that this extension is systematically improvable and applicable to the spin systems with short-range interactions in the entire temperature region. With two correlations included and the renormalization-group ideas implemented, the critical properties of the Ising model are satisfactorily revealed. Moreover, the improved estimates of the thermodynamical quantities for the quantum linear XY model from the finite-size calculations are found down to very low temperatures.

The finite-temperature static properties of the spin S=1 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chains are extensively simulated using the quantum transfer matrix method. The zero-field susceptibility and specific heat as well as the field-dependent magnetization data are evaluated to select the microscopic parameters of a number of real quasi-one-dimensional compounds and to verify some theoretical approaches.

A numerical transfer-matrix approach and an exact diagonalization technique exploiting the point-group symmetry are worked out in the framework of quantum statistical mechanics and group theory for finite rings. They are applied to spin models of the high nuclearity cyclic clusters [Mn(hfac)$\text{}_{2}$NITPh]$\text{}_{6}$ and Ni$\text{}_{12}$(O$\text{}_{2}$CMe)$\text{}_{12}$(chp)$\text{}_{12}$(H$\text{}_{2}$O)$\text{}_{6}$(THF)$\text{}_{6}$. The microscopic parameters of both molecules (J/k$\text{}_{B}$=350±10 K and J/k$\text{}_{B}$=8.5 K±0.5, g=2.23±0.01, respectively) are then obtained from a fit of the theoretical susceptibility curves to the experimental results which are supplemented for Ni$\text{}_{12}$ by new low-temperature measurements.

Rozpatrzono zasady podziału ogólnej grubości warstwy skrawanej między pojedynczymi narzędziami i ostrzami zespołu przeciągaczy do obróbki wąskich rowków w elementach z mosiądzu CuZn39Pb2. W celu opracowania konstrukcji uniwersalnego przeciągacza do obróbki rowków o zbliżonym kształcie zaleca się wykorzystanie zasady modułowej. Zaproponowano metodę doboru posuwów na ostrze oraz ich kształtów zapewniającą równomierne obciążenia na poszczególnych sekcjach przeciągacza. Przedstawiono typowe rozkłady jednostkowych i ogólnych sił skrawania między ostrzami i sekcjami. Na podstawie oprogramowania CosmosWorks dokonano modelowania rozkładów naprężeń równoważących według metody Von Misesa oraz obliczono wartości współczynników bezpieczeństwa w ostrzach przeciągaczy wykonanych ze stali szybkotnącej HS 6-5-2 (d. SW7M) tradycyjnie stosowanej na narzędzia skrawające oraz stali szybkotnącej Vanadis 23 wyprodukowanej metodą metalurgii proszków. Zastosowanie stali proszkowej zapewnia wyższe bezpieczeństwo pracy przeciągaczy.
Principles of division of general cutting layer thickness between single tools and teeth of a complete broach tool for cutting of narrow deep grooves in parts from CuZn39Pb2 brass are considered. To work up a universal broach tool construction for cutting of grooves with similar shapes it is recommended using of a modular principle. The method of picking of feed per tooth and shapes of teeth to guarantee a uniform loading on single sections of a broach tool is proposed. Typical distributions of single and general cutting forces between teeth and sections are introduced. On the base of CosmosWorks computer program complete the modeling of equivalent stresses distribution under Von Mises method and factors of safety distribution into teeth of a broach tool produced from high speed steel HS 6-5-2 traditionally used for cutting tools and from powder metallurgical high speed steel Vanadis 23 is realized. It's determined, powder metallurgical high speed steel ensures the higher work safety of broach tools.

Opis:
Biological invasions are one of the most important problems of nature conservation, which affect several branches of forestry and game management. In case of recent invasions, there is a problem with assessment of invasion intensity due to insufficient quantity of data. In Poland, eight of 31 game species are alien and three small predators are serious threat to biological diversity. The most recent of them is raccoon (Procyon lotor L.). Similarly to studies about rodents and flu, we tested potential of Google search engine to assess whether it may be used as a proxy for species abundance, by downloading search index of phrase 'szop pracz' (i.e. raccoon). We decomposed time series of search intensity in weak intervals into trend, seasonal and remainder, and identified sources of variability within these elements. We also proved, that this time series may be modeled using four moving average model, according to ARIMA technique. Seasonal element was connected with species biology – raccoon was recorded less frequently in winter, due to its lower activity in this time. Remainder was connected with entertainment and law regulation news in most popular websites, which resulted the peak of search index in 2009, when there was a change in length of hunting season for raccoon. Moreover, we proved that annual sums of search indices were positively correlated with hunting gain of raccoon (p<0.05; R²=0.34), thus studied time series is connected with biological phenomena of raccoon invasion. Our results show that search engine queries may be useful in predicting and reconstruction of biological invasions.
