Opis:: The present article seeks to analyse the figure of the Wandering Jew in five 20thcentury French novels (Carnet de route du Juif errant by Alexandre Arnoux, Les Entretiens d’Ahasvérus by Louis de Launay, Marches du Juif errant by Henry-Jacques, Jésus raconté par le Juif errant by Edmond Fleg and Histoire du Juif errant by Jean d’Ormesson). Its main goal is to answer the question to what extent the original image of the Jew is reproduced in the abovementioned prose works. In order to carry out his plan, the author takes into account the crucial and stereotypical characteristics which constitute the very nature of the Jewish vagabond. He tries then to point out major differences between the five novels and the popular version of the Ahasverian legend. The study of those elements shows that contemporary texts related to the immortal man break off with the traditional version of the legend and thus bear testimony of the so-called “death of the myth”.

Opis:: Despite the passage of time, the literary output by Jean Genet keeps arousing controversy in both critics and readers. It is due to the contents of his works which reflect the private life of a man who is determined to separate himself from the world of “decent people” and to live among the “aristocrats of Evil”. The present study discusses the interference of various rituals that occur in Genet’s prose writing, full of villains and vagabonds. It analyses five novels: Our Lady of the Flowers, The Miracle of the Rose, Funeral Rites, Querelle of Brest and The Thief’s Journal. The main goal is to describe how those rituals are connected to one another and why Evil can be perceived as a driving force. To present a vast range of this problem, the paper takes into consideration a number of religious, erotic and criminal elements. Opis:: The present article discusses a hybrid identity of two main characters from the novel The Forgotten by Élie Wiesel. Having left Europe, Elhanan Rosenbaum settles down in the United States. Even though he adapts to his new surroundings, he perceives himself chiefly as a Jew. When he begins to suffer from an incurable disease that causes him to lose his memory, he compels his son, who was brought up in the USA, to go to Romania. The main goal of this trip is to rescue the memory of the past from oblivion: memory as an indicator of Jewishness. Moreover, thanks to the expedition, Malkiel succeeds to strengthen his own Jewish identity.

Opis:: In the very beginning of the 17th century appears a famous legend of the Wandering Jew named Ahasverus, who is characterised by some immutable features. Since then, the story has inspired various artists and despite the passage of time it keeps on arousing a great interest among both writers and readers. The main goal of the present study is to compare the collective protagonist from The Book of Abraham, a twentieth century novel by Marek Halter, to the legendary figure. Therefore, we present a vast and accurate picture of the interactions between the Jewish protagonists from Halter’s novel to the features typical of Ahasuerus.

Opis:: Le présent article se propose d’examiner trois romans de Jean Genet : Notre-Dame-des-Fleurs (1943), Miracle de la rose (1946) et Journal du voleur (1949). Son objectif principal est de vérifier comment le jeu des techniques discursives appliquées par Genet lui permet de créer un univers diégétique inspiré par sa vie privée et de réaliser ainsi le jeu de rôles qu’il assume à des fins idéologiques et ontologiques. Pour effectuer son analyse, l’auteur prend en considération avant tout les outils liés à la poétique de l’œuvre littéraire, mais aussi les aspects choisis du pacte autobiographique visant à persuader le récepteur de la « véracité apparente » du texte littéraire. L’étude de ces éléments montre que l’univers romanesque de Jean Genet, d’une part, s’inspire à un certain degré de la réalité, d’autre part, sert à construire un espace narratif où un jeu continu entre le vrai et le faux est mis au premier plan.
This article seeks to analyze three novels by Jean Genet: Our Lady of the Flowers (1943), Miracle of the Rose (1946) and The Thief’s Journal (1949). Its main goal is to verify how the game with discursive techniques applied by Genet allows him to create a diegetic universe inspired by his private life and, therefore, to conduct a role-playing game, undertaken for ideological and ontological purposes. In order to carry out his plan, the author takes into account not only tools related to the poetics of a literary work but also selected aspects of an autobiographical pact aiming at persuading the reader of an “apparent truth” of the literary text. The study of these elements shows that the universe in Genet’s novels is, on the one hand, inspired to a certain degree by the reality, on the other hand, used to construct a narrative space where a continuous game with the truth and falsehood is located in the foreground.

Opis:: Due to rheological properties of salt rock mass, maintenance of mine excavations, including shafts may be very challenging, especially in the long term. Opis:: Trade unions in Poland have not built the stable and long–term relations with political parties as are observed in Western democracies. By analysing the historical and symbolic background of the transformation to a democratic civil society and free market economy, political preferences of working class, trade union membership rates, and public opinion polls, we argue that, in case of Poland, the initial links between political parties and trade unions weakened over time. Polish trade unions never had a chance to become a long–term intermediary between society and political parties, making the Polish case study a double exception from the traditional models.

Opis:: This work presents an innovative shaft-lining solution which, in accordance with a patent of the Republic of Poland, allows successive, periodic leaching of excess rock salt migrating to the shaft opening. As is commonly known, all workings in rock salt strata are exposed to an increased convergence of sidewalls, making it very difficult to use shafts properly. Rocks migrating towards the shaft opening cause very high stress on the shaft liner. As a result, if the lining does not show substantial deformability, it fails. Lining failure due to insufficient deformability has been extensively described in the literature. Also, throughout the history of mining construction, a number of solutions have been proposed for different types of lining-deformability enhancement. For instance, the KGHM mining corporation applied a deformable steel lining – a solution used in the mining construction of galleries – along a 155-m-long section of the SW-4 shaft with diameters of 7,5 m that passes through a rock salt strata. At KGHM, the SW-4 shaft passes through a rock salt strata along a section of 155 m, in which a deformable enclosed steel lining was made. After several years, the convergence of shaft sidewalls stabilised at a rate of 0.5 mm/day. This enormous activity of the rock mass made it necessary to reconstruct the entire shaft section after only four years. According to further predictions, it will be necessary to reconstruct this section at least four times by 2045. This paper discusses in short form the underlying weaknesses of the technology in question. As a solution to the problems mentioned above, the authors of this work present a very simple design of a shaft lining, called the tubing-aggregate lining, which utilises the leachability of salt rock massifs. The essential part of the lining is a layer of coarse aggregate set between the salt rock sidewall and the inner column of the tubing lining. One the one hand, coarse aggregate supports the salt rock sidewall and is highly deformable due to its compressibility, but on the other hand it allows water or low saturated brine to migrate and dissolve salt rock sidewalls. This paper presents the first stage of works on this subject. Patent No. PL 223831 B had been granted before these works commenced.
Praca niniejsza prezentuje innowacyjne rozwiązanie obudowy szybu, która zgodnie z patentem RP umożliwia sukcesywne okresowe ługowanie nadmiaru soli migrującej w światło szybu. Powszechnie wiadomo, że każde wyrobisko górnicze w górotworze solnym narażone jest na zwiększoną konwergencję ociosów, co w przypadku szybów jest dużym utrudnieniem prawidłowego ich wykorzystywania. Migracja skał w światło szybu powoduję bardzo wysokie obciążenie deformacyjne obudowy. Jeżeli ta nie ma zdolności do znaczącego odkształcania się to ulega zniszczeniu. Literatura fachowa dysponuje wieloma opisami zniszczenia obudowy zbyt mało podatnej. W historii budownictwa górniczego zaproponowano też kilka rozwiązań w postaci różnego rodzaju upodatnienia obudowy. Przykładowo, przenosząc z budownictwa górniczego wyrobisk korytarzowych konstrukcję obudowy stalowej podatnej w KGHM w szybie SW-4 na odcinku o długości 155 m, przechodzącym przez górotwór solny, zastosowano podatną obudowę stalową zamkniętą. Konwergencja ociosów szybowych w tym przypadku po kilku latach ustabilizowała się na poziomie 0,5 mm/dobę. Efektem tak wielkiej aktywności górotworu była konieczność przebudowy całego odcinka szybu już po 3 latach. Dalsze prognozy przewidują, że do roku 2045 konieczna będzie jeszcze co najmniej 4 krotna przebudowa tego odcinka. W pracy przedstawiono zasadnicze słabości tego rozwiązania technicznego. W odpowiedzi na tego typu przypadki Autorzy niniejszej pracy prezentują bardzo prostą konstrukcje obudowy zwanej obudową „tubingowo-kruszywową”, która wykorzystuje zdolność górotworu solnego do procesu ługowania. Istotą tej obudowy jest warstwa kruszywa gruboziarnistego, umieszczona pomiędzy ociosem solnym i wewnętrzna kolumną obudowy tubingowej. Kruszywo gruboziarniste z jednej strony podpiera ocios solny z możliwością znacznego odkształcania się bo jest ściśliwe, ale z drugiej strony pozwala na migrację wody słodkiej, która będzie oddziaływać na ociosy solne rozpuszczającje. Niniejsza praca poprzedzona przyznanym patentem nr PL 223831 B, prezentuje pierwszy etap prac nad tym zagadnieniem. Etapem drugim były badania intensywności ługowania i możliwości zastosowania tego rozwiązania w budownictwie szybowym. Etapem finalnym winien być odcinek badawczy szybu w górotworze solnym z obudową pozwalającą na okresowe ługowanie calizny solnej.

Opis:: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is likely to have long-term mental health effects on individuals who have recovered from COVID-19. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 can see a range of long-term side effects. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of neurotherapy (EEG neurofeedback and goal-oriented cognitive training) in the treatment of neurocognitive dysfunctions in a patient after the infection of SARS-CoV-2 and the long long-term side effects after the contraction of COVID-19. The 48-year-old woman ZR, an accountant by profession, an employee of the administration of the Municipal Board of Municipal Resources, fell ill on October 13, 2020. The disease began with very severe burning headache, eyeballs pain, muscle aches. Ten days later more symptoms joined: loss of smell (anosmia) and loss of taste (ageusia), hearing disorders, shortness of breath and chest pains. The symptoms were associated with SARS-CoV-2 coron- avirus infection confirmed by an rt-PCR genetic test. Brain MRI with intravenous paramagnetic contrast medium injection did not show either lesions of acute microischemic significance or areas of pathological enhancement after paramagnetic contrast medium ad- ministration. The patient was treated at home. In mid-November 2020, about a month after the infection of SARS-CoV-2 and con- tracting NeuroCOVID-19, neurocognitive impairment developed and after half a year she was deteriorating and not able to live in- dependently in society because of her condition. She called her problem "brain fog", and was referred for further diagnosis and therapy to the Reintegration and Training Center of the Polish Neuropsychological Society. We diagnosed a range of long-term side effects and introduced neurotherapy (EEG neurofeedback and goal-oriented cognitive training) in the treatment of neurocognitive dysfunctions. It was found that almost all the long-term side effects were reduced in magnitude. The patient improved and she was able to return to work. EEG neurofeedback and goal-oriented cognitive training might be helpful in the reduction of neurocognitive dysfunctions in patients following the infection of SARS-CoV-2 and long-term side effects after the contraction of COVID-19.
