p-nitrodibromocinnamic acid
Opis:
The kinetic isotope effect (KIE) method was applied to study the mechanism of elimination of bromine from p-nitro-erythro-alfa,beta-dibromocinnamic acid labeled at the alfa-carbon. This compound was obtained starting from [2-14C]malonic acid via [2-14C]cinnamic acid and subsequent addition of bromide. The value of 14C KIE determined for alfa-position of side chain of p-nitro-erythro-alfa,beta-dibromocinamic acid proves that elimination of bromine leading to formation of (E)-p-nitrocinnamic acid proceeds via E2 mechanism.

Opis:
The synthesis of specifically ring labeled isotopomer of L-tyrosine, (l-Tyr), using chemical and enzymatic methods is reported. The carbon-14 labeled [1’-14C]-L-Tyr has been synthesized by a 6-step conversion of [2-14C]-malonic acid into [4’-14C]-phenol and its subsequent condensation with S-methyl-L-cysteine using enzyme tyrosine phenol lyase from Citrobacter freundii.

Opis:
The tritium kinetic isotope effect on position 2 has been determined in the reaction of decomposition of L-tryptophan, L-Trp, catalyzed by enzyme TPase, (EC 4.1.99.1). The numerical values of isotope effects in the course of reaction were obtained by the competitive method using [1-14C]-L-tryptophan as internal radiometric standard.

Opis:
12C/14C kinetic isotope effects on the hydrolytic cleavage of tyrosine to phenol and ammonium pyruvate catalyzed by Citrobacter freundii tyrosine phenol-lyase have been determined in positions 2, 3 and ring-1' of L-tyrosine. The competitive method with dual-label approach was applied with 3',5'-ring 3H as remote label. The results revealed the change of the effect on carbon atom in position 2 during the reaction course from the high normal values to low inverse values. On the other hand, the effect values on 3 and ring-1' position remained constant during the reaction course. The discussion of these results regarding the reaction mechanism is presented.

Opis:
Undermentioned article presents how wellbore trajectory changes may impact mud flow pressure losses in wellbore annulus and overall Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD) value. In order to investigate this topic, there were conducted two series of tests. In the first round actual, field data from six previously drilled wells was used to recreate real wellbores conditions in Halliburton Landmark Drilling Software and to calculate ECD values. In order to check and confirm the results accuracy, the outcomes were compared with pressure while drilling (PWD) equipment surveys’ results made during drilling operations. Next it was analyzed how ECD parameter's values change in particular sections of vertical and horizontal wellbores, due to trajectory angle modifications. With aim of expanding scope of the work, the second group of tests was made in Drilling Fluids Laboratory at Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas. Using Grace Sagging Tester M8500 Ultra HPHT it was examined how in wellbore conditions (high pressure and temperature) wellbore trajectory angle modifications may impact solids sedimentation process and fluid density changes in the annulus thus ECD value as well. The results indicate that there is a relationship between wellbore trajectory angle changes and ECD value shifts. In addition there are included field tests outcomes prepared by K&M Technology Group which confirm presented assumption.

Opis:
We have observed a paramagnetic-to-ferromagnetic phase transition in short period InGaMnAs/InGaAs superlattices. The thicknesses of magnetic InGaMnAs layers in the structures studied was chosen to be 4 or 8 molecular layers (12Å or 24Å). The non-magnetic InGaAs spacer layers are 12Å thick. The composition (In content) in InGaMnAs and InGaAs was chosen in such a way that magnetic layers were: deep potential wells, high potential barriers, or shallow potential wells. For superlattices with 8 monolayer thick InGaMnAs magnetic layers and 4 monolayer thick InGaAs non-magnetic spacers the temperatures of paramagnetic-to-ferromagnetic phase transition do not depend on the band offsets between InGaMnAs and InGaAs adjusted by the In content.

Opis:
We show that post growth annealing of GaMnAs under As capping at temperatures in the range of 180-210ºC leads to significant surface modifications. Depending on GaMnAs layer thickness and composition, we obtain either a smooth continuous reacted (MnAs) surface layer or 3D islands (quantum dots). The surface modifications are due to a solid phase epitaxial process, in which Mn interstitials diffusing to the GaMnAs surface are bound with the As.
