Opis:
The objective of this research to optimise the HPLC method was developed for quantitative determination of Pirimiphos-methyl. Chromatographic separation was achieved on a 250 x 4.6 mm i.d. reversed phase column Qualisil BDS 5u C18, Using deionized acetonitrile:water in the ratio of 85:15 v/v respectively as mobile phase. The eluent was monitored at 254 nm. A sharp peak was obtained for the Pirimiphos-methyl at 9.29 min. The UV Spectrophotometric method performed at 254 nm after full scan analysis using methanol as a solvent. The result revealed that both methods are suitable to carry out routine analysis of Pirimiphos methyl, However HPLC results showed high precise, accurate and sensitive than the UV Spectrophotometer. Hence HPLC method is suitable for trace analysis of Pirimiphos methyl in environmental samples.

Opis:
The Optima Local Fauna represents an important glimpse into the ecological transition between savannah and grassland during the late Miocene (Hemphillian) of what is now the southcentral Great Plains of North America. Though dominated by horses, herbivores from the Optima are morphologically diverse, bearing adaptations for both browsing and grazing lifestyles. Likewise, the carnivorans show similar ranges of size and presumed dietary behavior. In this study, we used carbonate isotope, mesowear, and tooth breakage and wear analyses to investigate the dietary complexity of mammals from a single site collected by the Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. Seventeen taxa were analyzed, including five perissodactyls (Teleoceras hicksi, Dinohippus interpolatus, Neohipparion eurystyle, Nannippus ingenuus, and Astro hippus ansae), four artiodactyls (Texoceros guymonensis, Pediomeryx hemphillensis, Megatylopus matthewi, and Platy gonus sp.), a single proboscidean (Mammut sp.), two rodents (Dipoides indet. and Umbogaulus monodon), and five carni vorans (Agriotherium schneideri, Amphimachairodus coloradensis, Borophagus secundus, Eucyon davisi, Pliotaxi dea cf. nevadensis). Both stable isotope analysis and dental mesowear indicate a broad dietary partitioning occurred among the Optima herbivores, where the artiodactyls were identified as mixed feeders and the perissodactyls were recovered as grazers. In the carnivorans, the large felid Amphimachairodus coloradensis was a hypercarnivore with limited tooth breakage and an enriched δ13C signature, indicating low carcass utilization and a prey preference for horses. The canids had a more generalized diet, with B. secundus showing a greater proportional consumption of carcasses through a higher tooth breakage rate. The large ursid Agriotherium schneideri is here interpreted as an omnivore based on depleted δ13 C values. Overall, we found evidence for a diversity of dietary niches in both carnivores and herbivores during the late Hemphillian in Oklahoma, likely driven by the expansion of grasslands in the region.

A series of aryl chalcones have been synthesized from 4-phenoxyacetophonone with various substituted benzaldehydes. The purity of all chalcones has been checked using their physical constants and spectral data. These spectral data have been correlated with Hammett substituent constants and F and R parameters using single and multi-linear regression analysis. From the results of statistical analysis, the effect of substituents on the above spectral data has been studied. The single parameter correlation with few Hammett constants and F and R parameters gave satisfactory correlation coefficients whereas all multiple correlations gave satisfactory correlation coefficients with Resonance, Field and Swain-Lupton’s parameters. The antimicrobial activities of all chalcones have been studied using Bauer-Kirby method.

Opis:
The Middle Jurassic Kaladongar Formation, Patcham Island, Kachchh, western India, comprises of a 353 m-thick mixed siliciclastic-carbonate succession of asymmetrical shallowing and deepening upward sedimentary cycles. It is subdivided into five main facies i.e., micritic sandstone, allochemic sandstone, sandy allochem limestone, micritic mudrock, and sandy micrite along with shales and conglomerates. Eight trace fossil assemblages comprising 34 ichnogenera are defined, including the Asterosoma, Gyrochorte, Rhizocorallium, Thalassinoides, Planolites–Palaeophycus, Phycodes, Ophiomorpha, and Skolithos assemblages that reflect five depositional facies: offshore, transitional, lower, middle, and upper shoreface. The sedimentary packages and associated trace fossil assemblages are separated by various discontinuities, stratigraphic surfaces and stratigraphic boundaries within the succession of the Kaladongar Formation and reveal three phases of regression (RST-I, RST-II and RST-III) and three phases of transgression (TST-II, III and IV) within the 3rd order systems tracts developed in the slowly transgressing sea during the Bajocian-Bathonian time interval.

Opis:
Ancient deltaic facies are difficult to differentiate from tidally influenced shallow-marine facies. The Wagad Sandstone Formation of the Wagad Highland (eastern Kachchh Basin) is typified by offshore and deltaic facies with sedimentary characteristics that represent different conditions of hydrodynamics and related depositional processes. The study area, the Adhoi Anticline, constitutes a ~154-m-thick, shale-dominated sequence with progressive upward intercalations of bioturbated micritic sandstone and quartz arenite. Two thick Astarte beds (sandy allochemic limestone), with an erosional base and gravel blanketing, illustrate tidal amplification and high-energy stochastic events such as storms. Sedimentological characteristics document three depositional facies: an offshore, shale-dominated sequence prograding to proximal prodeltaic micritic sandstone and quartz arenite with sandy allochemic limestones, further prograding to mouth bars and abandoned channel deposits. The Wagad Sandstone Formation displays depositional environmental conditions that are dissimilar from those of coeval deposits in Kachchh sub-basins as well as on regional and global scales. This is attributed to a reactivation of the Kachchh Mainland and South Wagad faults which resulted in detachment and uplift of the Wagad block which then experienced prograding deltaic conditions.

Opis:
The purpose of the present study is to investigate whether the alcoholic extract of Graptophyllum pictum (L.) Griff. could decrease the intensity of nephrotoxicity in albino rats. Cisplatin at a single dose of 12 mg/kg body weight was administered intraperitonially to albino male Wistar rats. Nephrotoxicity was assessed by determining the serum creatinine and urea levels as well as renal antioxidant status in rats after cisplatin administration. Ethanolic extract of G. pictum at 150 and 300 mg/kg body weight was administered orally after cisplatin injection for 15 days. The extracts could significantly reduce the elevated serum creatinine and urea levels. Renal antioxidant defence systems, such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase activities and reduced glutathione level, depleted by cisplatin therapy were restored to normal by treatment with the extract. Cisplatin induced lipid peroxidation was also found markedly reduced by treatment with the extract. This result indicated that ethanolic extract of G. pictum rendered significant preventive effect against cisplatin induced nephrotoxicity.
Ponadto podawanie cisplatyny wywołało zaburzenia w działaniu dysmutazy ponadtlenkowej, kata65 Effect of ethanol extract of Graptophyllum pictum (L.) Griff. on cisplatin induced nephrotoxicity in rats lazy, peroksydazy glutationowej, powodując zaburzenia mechanizmów obronnych nerek oraz obniżenie poziomu glutationu, natomiast ich prawidłowe funkcjonowanie zostało przywrócone po podaniu ekstraktu.
