Opis:
A method for creating linearly polarized positrons and ortho-positronium (o-Ps) atoms with the J-PET detector is presented. The unique geometry and properties of the J-PET tomography enable one to design a positron source such that the quantization axis for the estimation of the linear polarization of produced o-Ps can be determined on the event by event basis in a direction of the positron motion. We intend to use ²²Na or other β⁺ decay isotopes as a source of polarized positrons. Due to the parity violation in the beta decay, the emitted positrons are longitudinally polarized. The choice of the quantization axis is based on the known position of the positron emitter and the reconstructed position of the positronium annihilation. We show that the J-PET tomography is equipped with all needed components.

W pracy przedstawiono sytuację polskiego rynku nieruchomości na tle innych krajów Unii Europejskiej. Określono średnie ceny nieruchomości w poszczególnych krajach, przeprowadzono analizę różnic cenowych pomiędzy stolicami, przy uwzględnieniu wielkości miast, wyznaczono wzrost liczby transakcji przed akcesją i po niej. Przedstawiono problem zakupu ziemi przez obcokrajowców. Główną uwagę skierowano na analizę krakowskiego rynku nieruchomości. Uwzględniono jego zalety i wady, rozwój miasta i rozwój gospodarki, rynku mieszkaniowego, działek niezabudowanych, powierzchni biurowych i handlowych.
In the paper the situation of the Polish market of real estates was presented and compared with other countries of the European Union. Average prices of real estates in respective countries were defined, the analysis of price differences between capitals was made, the size of cities was taken into account, and the growth of the number of transactions before and after the accession was presented. The problem of purchasing land by foreigners was shown. The main focus was on the analysis of the Krakow market of real estates, regarding its advantages, disadvantages, and development of the city and development of economy, market of apartments, not built-up land, office surfaces and commercial space.

Aglomeracja krakowska to obszar zajmujący powierzchnię ponad 4 tys. km2. Składa się na niego 51 gmin zamieszkiwanych przez blisko 1,5 miliona osób. Jego ośrodkiem centralnym jest Kraków. Strefa zewnętrzna składa się ze strefy podmiejskiej oraz zewnętrznej strefy otaczającej. Pierwsza z nich to 12 gmin bezpośrednio graniczących z miastem wojewódzkim. Stanowi ona tak zwaną „sypialnię Krakowa”. Znaczny procent jej populacji to migranci wahadłowi, uczący się i pracujący w mieście. Zaznaczyć należy, że zbiorowość zamieszkująca te tereny, to nie tylko ludność rdzenna. Wielu mieszkańców to ludność napływowa, a właściciele tutejszych nieruchomości nabywają je ze względu na sąsiedztwo Krakowa. Mają oni możliwość posiadania własnego domu poza ośrodkiem miejskim i jednoczesną sposobność szybkiego dojazdu do niego. Spowodowało to niebywale gwałtowny rozwój rynku nieruchomość w gminach ościennych. Publikacja ta ma na celu ukazać preferencje nabywców nieruchomości na rynku, na terenach wcześniej użytkowanych rolniczo we wspomnianej strefie aglomeracji w ciągu ostatnich lat.
The Cracovian agglomeration is an area which covering over 4 thousand km2. It is composed of 51 municipalities inhabited by nearly 1.5 million people. Its major Centre is the city Krakow. Outer Zone consists of the outer suburban and the surrounding areas. Outer Zone consists of the outer suburban area and the surrounding area. The first one cumulate the 12 communes directly adjacent to the county town. It is the so-called "Cracovian bedroom”. A large proportion of its population are pendular migrants, learning and working in the city. It should be noted that the community living in these areas is not only the indigenous peoples. Many of people are the immigrant population and local property owners buy them because of the proximity of Krakow. They have the opportunity to have your own house outside the city center and at the same time the occasion to quickly get to it. This resulted in extremely rapid development of the property market in neighboring municipalities. This publication aims to show the preferences of real estate buyers in the market, in areas previously used for agriculture in that urban area in recent years.

Opis:
Kraków uważany to jeden z czołowych ośrodków akademickich w Polsce. W tutejszych szkołach wyższych zdobywa wiedzę blisko 200 tysięcy studentów. Tylko nieliczni z nich to stali mieszkańcy Krakowa. Z tego powodu też rokrocznie rynek najmu mieszkań w stolicy Małopolski w okresie wakacyjnym odnotowuje wahania cen. Jednocześnie studenci (lub ich rodzice) ponad standard lokalu przedkładają bliskość wybranego ośrodka akademickiego czy dostęp komunikacyjny. Pozwala to utrzymać na stałym poziomie ceny najmu mieszkań znajdujących się właśnie w tych okolicach i stanowi stabilne źródło dochodu dla właścicieli nieruchomości, które mogłyby nie być atrakcyjne dla pozostałej grup społecznych. W celu dostarczenia informacji dotyczących mieszkań preferowanych przez studentów przeprowadzono badanie ankietowe, w którym zadano pytania osobom, które obecnie bądź na przestrzeni ostatnich lat wynajmowały lokal mieszkalny w Krakowie i są lub były studentami Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej. Uczelnia ta została wybrana ze względu na zwartą strukturę placówek dydaktycznych, bliskość stref atrakcyjnych, przez co drogich, oraz łatwość pozyskania informacji od respondentów. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań skłaniają do wniosku, że ankietowani najchętniej zawierali umowy na wynajem mieszkań dwupokojowych znajdujących się w pobliżu uczelni lub z dobrym połączeniem komunikacyjnym z nią. Zauważono również, że najważniejszym czynnikiem mającym wpływ na średnią cenę za wynajem jest lokalizacja, w poszczególnych jednostkach urbanistycznych miasta Krakowa różni się ona od średniej o kilkaset złotych. Kolejnym, dość oczywistym, kryterium decydującym o wysokości stawki jest stan techniczny oraz standard wyposażenia mieszkania. Sprawdzono również, na jakich warunkach najęcie mieszkania jest rentowne dla jego właściciela. Ostatecznie wykryto, iż korzyści płynące z oddania pod wynajem lokalu studentom są niewspółmierne dla obu stron transakcji/umowy Informacje uzyskane za pomocą przeprowadzonego badania oraz wykonanych analiz są pomocne zarówno dla osób chcących w przyszłości czerpać korzyści z wynajmowania mieszkania, jak i dla tysięcy studentów, którzy każdego roku zmagają się z problemem wyboru miejsca, w którym przyjdzie im spędzić najbliższe miesiące bądź lata.
Krakow is considered to be one of the top academic centres in Poland. In the local universities nearly 200 thousand students acquire knowledge. Only a few of them are permanent inhabitants of Krakow. For this reason, also, annually the market of apartments rent in the capital city of Małopolska in the period of holiday observes fluctuations of prices. At the same time students (or their parents) prefer the proximity of the chosen academic centre or the communication accessibility over the standards of the premises. This allows to sustain the prices of rent of apartments in this neighbourhood and constitutes a stable source of income for real estate owners that could not be attractive for the remaining social groups. For the purpose of supplying information concerning the apartments preferred by the students a study was conducted, in which questions were asked to individuals who now or in recent years rented an apartment in Krakow and they are or have been students of the AGH University of Science and Technology. The post was chosen because of the compact structure of educational institutions, proximity att ractive zones, and thus expensive, and the ease of obtaining information from respondents as a result of the conducted studies it is possible to consider that among the surveyed most often rent contracts were concluded for apartments with two rooms nearby, or with a good connection to the universities. It was also noticed that the most important factor having impact on the average price for the rent is the location, in the particular urban units of the city of Krakow it differs from the average by a few hundred PLN. Another, relatively obvious criterion determining the height of the rate is the technical condition and furnishing standard of the apartment. The terms on which the rent of the apartment is profi table for its owner were verified. Finally, it was noticed that the benefits arising from the rent of the premises to students are disproportionate for different parties. The information obtained by means of the conducted studies and completed analyses is helpful both for people willing, in the future, to take advantage of the benefits from leasing an apartment, as well as for thousands of students who each year are struggling against the fundamental choice of the place where they will spend the nearest months or years.

Opis:
Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy has shown to be a powerful tool to study the nanostructures of porous materials. Positron emission tomograph is a device allowing imaging of metabolic processes e.g. in human bodies. A newly developed device, the Jagiellonian PET will allow positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy in addition to imaging, thus combining both analyses providing new methods for physics and medicine. In this contribution we present a computer program that is compatible with the Jagiellonian PET software. We compare its performance with the standard program LT 9.0 by using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy data from hexane measurements at different temperatures. Our program is based on an iterative procedure, and our fits prove that it performs as good as LT 9.0.

Opis:
Na podstawie geodezyjnych, fotogrametrycznych czy radiowych obserwacji obiektów powłokowych określa się ich położenie, wymiary i kształt. Podstawą aproksymacji matematycznego modelu powierzchni, względem którego ocenia się stan geometryczny obiektu, są współrzędne przestrzenne punktów reprezentujących powłoką obiektu. W praktyce, wartości parametrów modelowych wyznacza się bez uwzględnienia dokładności tych współrzędnych. Macierz kowariancji dla współrzędnych punktów obserwowanych jest podstawą dla dokonania oceny dokładności wyznaczanych parametrów powierzchni i ich funkcji. W pracy przedstawiono algorytm umożliwiający ocenę dokładności estymowanych parametrów powierzchni. Określono miarę dopasowania modelu matematycznego do zaobserwowanego stanu geometrycznego powłoki, na podstawie którego można wnioskować o adekwatności modelu. Podano również metodę oszacowania estymatora wariancji jednostkowej odzwierciedlającego wpływ błędów tylko z tytułu pomiarów.
On the base of geodetic, photogrammetric or radio observations of the sheet objects its position, dimensions and shape are determined. Approximation of mathematical model for the surface, used as a reference for estimation of geometric state of the object is based on the space co-ordinates of points representing the sheet of the object. In practice, the model parameter values are determined without consideration of accuracy of these co-ordinates. However, the covariance matrix for co-ordinates of observed points constitutes a base to estimate accuracy of determined parameters and its functions. In this paper an algorithm enabling estimation of accuracy for the estimated parameters of the surface is presented. In addition, a measure of fitting of mathematical model to the observed geometric state of the sheet is determined. This parameter can be used to decide on adequacy of a medel. A method of estimation of the unit variance estimator reflecting effect of measurement errors only is also described.

Opis:
The positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy was applied to the samples of the human uterine leiomyomas and the normal myometrium tissues taken from the selected place of the uterus during a surgery. The method indicated differences in values of the measured positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy parameters (lifetimes and intensities) between healthy and diseased tissue samples. The additional measurements were performed either in darkness or in presence of visible light which influenced the free radicals present in both kind of tissues and, as a result, made changes in free annihilation and o-Ps decay lifetime and intensity values.

The paper concerns hydraulic model investigation of the area of the Świna Strait as a whole and part of it conducted in the laboratory of the Institute of Hydro-Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBW PAN) over the past fifty years. The Świna Strait is part of the Odra Estuary, located on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea. The inlet structure (I Brama Torowa) located at the entrance from Szczecin Bay to the Piastowski Canal is a very important part of the waterway between the Pomeranian Gulf and the Szczecin Bay. In connection with modernising work, a detailed study of the Świna Strait and region of the inlet structure was carried out on hydraulic models. The paper presents basic information on physical models. Some examples of the solution of engineering problems in the Świna Strait, on the basis of the results from model tests performed in IBW PAN, are described. A description of the models, the way of performing the experiments, investigated variants and results obtained are presented.

This paper gives a general overview of Polish experience and achievements with regard to hydrodynamic modelling in the Polish zone of the Baltic Sea. The first work started already at the end of the sixties when the first 1D and 2D hydrodynamic models were set up. With the development of numerical methods and increasing computational power a number of 1D, 2D and 3D models were set up and tested. Global, regional and local models cover the most important water bodies, i.e. the Pomeranian Bay – Szczecin Lagoon and Gulf of Gdańsk – Vistula Lagoon systems.
