Opis:
Real estate turnover is a spatial phenomenon, because the location of properties refers to geographic space. Transaction prices are attribute values which distribution in geographic space can be subject to an analysis. The analysis of spatial autocorrelation of transaction prices of properties permits detection of local outlier transactions, detection of clusters of high and low prices, and the assessment of the statistical significance of such clusters. Transaction prices of undeveloped properties intended for building development obtained in suburban areas, and the location of such properties may suggest the intensity of the occurring processes of functional transformations. Results of statistical analyses of the spatial distribution of unitary transaction prices of such properties may constitute an element of specific characteristic of rural communes located in the vicinity of large cities. The article presents results of the analyses and their interpretation for selected rural communes of the Otwock district. The study was conducted in the scope of research grant entitled: "Spatial analysis of undeveloped land property transactions for the purposes of prediction of unfavourable changes in land use at variance with the idea of sustainable development of suburban areas", implemented in 2015 at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of the Warsaw University of Technology.

Preliminary results of laboratory and field tests of fibre optic rotational seismographs designed for rotational seismology are presented. In order to meet new directions of the research in this field, there is clearly a great need for suitable and extremely sensitive wideband sensors. The presented rotational seismographs based on the fibre optic gyroscopes show significant advantages over other sensor technologies when used in the seismological applications. Although the presented results are prepared for systems designed to record strong events expected by the so-called “engineering seismology”, the described system modification shows that it is possible to construct a device suitable for weak events monitoring expected by basic seismological research. The presented sensors are characterized, first and foremost, by a wide measuring range. They detect signals with amplitudes ranging from several dozen nrad/s up to even few rad/s and frequencies from 0.01 Hz to 100 Hz. The performed Allan variance analysis indicates the sensors main parameters: angle random walk in the range of 3 ∙ 10−8–2 ∙ 10−7 rad/s and bias instability in the range of 2 ∙ 10−9–2 ∙ 10−8 rad/s depending on the device. The results concerning the registration of rotational seismic events by the systems located in Książ Castle, Poland, as well as in the coalmine “Ignacy” in Rybnik, Poland were also presented and analysed.

The paper presents the results of research on the spatial variation of oxygen condition in a carp pond. The analysis of dissolved oxygen was carried out in the summer in 29 measuring points. In the analysed months the differences were determined between dissolved oxygen concentration in the strip of rushes and the part of the pond free from macrophytes. In the strip of rushes, the average concentration of dissolved oxygen was between 4.69–6.49 mg O2·dm–3. In the part of pond located near the strip of rushes the oxygen concentration was between 6.23–7.91 mg O2·dm–3 and in open water concentration of dissolved oxygen was in range 7.60–9.09 mg O2·dm–3. It was found that the biggest differences in oxygen concentration occur between the strip of rushes and the open water column: 40% in June, 26% in July, 28% in August, 38% in September, respectively. In the south-western part of the pond, covered with macrophytes and shaded by trees, the worst oxygen conditions were observed – below the optimum level for carps, sometimes reaching lethal values. The best oxygen conditions, noted in July and August, were in the central and northern part of the pond including the fishery and feeding point. In order to improve the oxygen conditions in macrophytes zone it is recommended to remove the rushes periodically and to remember to leave the part of emergent plants that are necessary for breeding and living avifauna. The scope and timing of the removal of plants has to be consulted and co-ordinated with the Regional Conservator of Nature.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań przestrzennego zróżnicowania warunków tlenowych w stawie karpiowym, narybkowo-kroczkowym. Badania tlenu rozpuszczonego w wodzie przeprowadzono w lecie w 29 punktach. W badanych miesiącach określono różnice między stężeniem tlenu rozpuszczonego w pasie szuwarów a częścią stawu wolną od makrofitów. W pasie szuwarów średnie stężenie tlenu rozpuszczonego kształtowało się w przedziale 4,69–6,49 mg O2·dm–3. W części stawu położonej przy pasie szuwarów mieściło się w granicach 6,23–7,91 mg O2·dm–3, a w otwartej toni wodnej w zakresie 7,60–9,09 mg O2·dm–3. Stwierdzono, że największe różnice zawartości tlenu występują pomiędzy pasem szuwarów a otwartą tonią, średnio: 40% w czerwcu, 26% w lipcu, 28% sierpniu, 38% we wrześniu. W południowo-zachodniej części stawu, porośniętej przez makrofity i zacienionej przez drzewa, odnotowywano najgorsze warunki tlenowe, poniżej poziomu optimum tlenowego dla karpi, czasami osiągające wartości letalne. Najlepsze warunki tlenowe, odnotowane w lipcu i sierpniu, występowały w centralnej i północnej części stawu, obejmującej punkt karmienia i łowisko. W celu poprawy warunków tlenowych w pasie makrofitów można okresowo częściowo wykaszać szuwary, pamiętając o pozostawieniu części pasa roślinności wynurzonej niezbędnej dla rozrodu i bytowania ornitofauny. Zakres i termin planowanego koszenia należy konsultować z ornitologami i uzgadniać z regionalnym konserwatorem przyrody.

This paper deals with an issue of a rotational motion impact on a construction and presents civil engineering applications of a fiber optic rotational seismograph named Fiber-Optic System for Rotational Events & Phenomena Monitoring. It has been designed for a long- term building monitoring and structural rotations’ recording. It is based on the Sagnac effect which enables to detect one-axis rotational motion in a direct way and without any reference system. It enables to detect a rotation component in the wide range of a signal amplitude from 10-8 rad/s to 10 rad/s, as well as a frequency from DC to 1000 Hz. Data presented in this paper show the behavior of a reinforced concrete frame construction on different floors. Several measurements were carried out by placing the applied sensor on different floor levels of a building. The laboratory and in-situ measurements confirmed that Fiber-Optic System for Rotational Events & Phenomena Monitoring is an accurate and suitable device for applications in civil engineering.

Vibration is a ubiquitous phenomenon that occurs in everyday life and people are exposed to it almost all the time. Most often, vibration is measured using electromechanical devices such as piezoelectric, piezoresistive, or capacitive accelerometers. However, attention should be paid to the limitations of such vibration sensors. They cannot operate in the presence of strong electromagnetic fields. Measurements with electromechanical devices require physical contact between the sensor and the vibrating object, which is not always possible due to the design of the sensor and device. The possibility of a non-contact vibration measurement in harsh environments is provided by the technology of interferometric fibre optic sensors. This paper reports the principle of operation, design aspects, experimentation, and performance of a Mach-Zehnder interferometric setup for the measurement of vibration frequency. There are different sensing arms implemented in the interferometer: single-mode, polarization-maintaining, and tapered optical fibre. The paper emphasises the simplicity of the set-up structure and the detection capabilities based on the interferometric sensing giving the possibility of constructing a commercial vibration sensor for all industry demands.

The technology of neutron transmutation doping of silicon wafers in MARIA nuclear research reactor is described. The studies of the radiation defects performed with positron annihilation confirmed that divacancies dominate in the irradiated material. Thermal treatment of irradiated silicon at 700-1000°C produces void-phosphorus complexes and void aggregates. The resistivity of the samples produced by neutron transmutation doping was found to be uniform within 2.5% limits. The severe reduction of the minority carrier lifetime in irradiated samples was confirmed.

The riparian forests develop in river valleys. Because of their soils fertility about 90% of the area occupied by forests of this type in the past has been transformed into farmlands. We studied hydrological characteristics conducive for development of riparian forests vegetation in small lowland river valley. Our study revealed limited role of the flooding phenomena in formation of these forests: average duration time of flooding amounted to 10 days per year. Frequent and long−lasting floods inhibit regeneration of the riparian forests on ex−meadows and prolong dominance of non−forest vegetation in the area adjacent to river channel.

An optimal method for composites preparation as an input to rapid prototyping fabrication of scaffolds with potential application in osteochondral tissue engineering is still needed. Scaffolds in tissue engineering applications play a role of constructs providing appropriate mechanical support with defined porosity to assist regeneration of tissue. The aim of the presented study was to analyze the influence of composite fabrication methods on scaffolds mechanical properties. The evaluation was performed on polycaprolactone (PCL) with 5 wt% beta-tricalcium phosphate (TCP) scaffolds fabricated using fused deposition modeling (FDM). Three different methods of PCL-TCP composite preparation: solution casting, particles milling, extrusion and injection were used to provide material for scaffold fabrication. The obtained scaffolds were investigated by means of scanning electron microscope, x-ray micro computed tomography, thermal gravimetric analysis and static material testing machine. All of the scaffolds had the same geometry (cylinder, 4×6 mm) and fiber orientation (0/60/120°). There were some differences in the TCP distribution and formation of the ceramic agglomerates in the scaffolds. They depended on fabrication method. The use of composites prepared by solution casting method resulted in scaffolds with the best combination of compressive strength (5.7±0.2 MPa) and porosity (48.5±2.7 %), both within the range of trabecular bone.
