Opis:: The DOA estimation methods based on the analysis of the noise subspace enable high resolution bearing determination of naval objects emitting hydrouacoustic noise. The knowledge of the objects number is the essential parameter for DOA algorithms. Practically, the number of the objects is unknown. In case of high sea ambient noise to object signal ratio the detection with desired probability is significantly hindered. In the event of system based on the console the detection decision belongs to the operator. The visual analysis of the reception beamformer changes conducts to the intruder detection. Whereas in case of the standalone systems the decision making process is performed by the detection and tracking algorithm. This article describes such algorithm based on the analysis of the machine states.

Opis:: Hydroacoustic location of underwater sound sources is commonly used to protect naval bases or military sea areas from various threats. Sonar technology applies hydrophones to detect sources of underwater noises. DOA estimation method based on the high angular resolution MUSIC algorithms are commonly used for small size antennas composed of hydrophones. The article proposes another approach to this problem. Additional equipage of the hydrophone with the GPS receiver and radio transreceiver enables construction of the distributed antenna. The size of such antenna can be significantly higher in comparison to the classical passive antenna. The article describes the algorithms of the sound sources location, results of the computer simulation and possibilities of hydrophone manufacturing as well its practical usage.

Opis:: Multi-sensors passive arrays are used to detect different objects emitting wideband acoustic signal to aquatic medium. The most important design problem is to proper match the size of the antenna and number of sensors to the wideband frequency range. Especially the multimode operation significantly increases the detection efficiency. In case of cylindrical antennas interesting is object detection at two frequencies. The first frequency results directly from the antenna radius, whereas the second one is doubled. The article presents detection capabilities of antennas composed of several hydrophones.

Opis:: The paper presents the synthesis of the time-spatial matched filtration algorithm. First part specifies base for the algorithm-input data. Successively, the matched filtration for continuous junction is depicted. This leads to the canonical form of the time-spatial filter. Consecutively, the decomposition into series connection of the matched and spatial filtration is realized. The next step is the signals approximation by Fourier series due to equivalence between approximation and interpolation on uniformly distributed discrete sampIes. The equation of the spatial filtration - in frequency domain - results from this mathematical operations. Application of the Bluestein's method to solve this equation provides to the final algorithm version. Advantages of the developed algorithm are presented in conclusions.

Opis:: The determination of the number of the simultaneously observed objects is an important problem of the MUSIC algorithm. As the result of the covariance matrix eigendecomposition the eingevector and unitary matrix are obtained. The unitary matrix defines the transformation of the measurement vector. Consequently the obtained vector is orthogonal to the noise subspace. The solution of the eigendecomposition problem can be avoided assuming a-priori knowledge of the unitary matrix. Practically, the passive sonar detects the first appeared noisy object. This enable to beforehand define the set of the unitary matrixes exactly matched to the previously determined directions of the signal arrival. The article presents the form of the matrix and features of the measurement vector transformation. The results of the DOA algorithm computer simulation for passive sonar composed of four hydrophones developed in the OBR CTM S.A. are also presented.

Opis:: The overall objective of this study was to examine the effect of vaginal administration of prostaglandin E₂ (PGE₂) and/or17β-estradiol (E₂) on luteal function maintenance and histological properties of the porcine cervix. For this purpose, crossbred gilts were divided into three groups (n=5 per group) supplied on days 11-16 of the estrous cycle with suppositories containing: (1) placebo (Group I, Control); (2) 0.4 mg of E₂ (Group II); (3) 0.4 mg of E₂ and 2 mg of PGE₂ (Group III). Blood samples were collected on days 11-19 of the estrous cycle to determine the concentration of progesterone (P₄). Additionally, to examine local effects of the hormones applied, segments from the uterine and vaginal parts of the cervix and from the ovaries were collected post-mortem. Prolonged luteal function and extended synthesis of P₄ were observed in 2 of 5 gilts receiving PGE₂ and E₂ simultaneously (Group III). Then, these gilts were subdivided into Group IIIA (n=2; presence of corpora lutea on the ovaries) and Group IIIB (n=3; lack of corpora lutea). Increased levels of plasma P₄ were observed in Group IIIA on days 15-19 compared to Group IIIB and on days 16-19 compared to Group I and Group II (P<0.05; P<0.01; P<0.001, respectively). In the cervix of gilts in Groups II and III, enlarged blood vessels in the lamina propria of both parts of the cervix were observed. Furthermore, in Group II the epithelium of the uterine part of the cervix was thicker (P<0.001). Our study confirmed the proposed luteotrophic/antiluteolytic actions of E₂ and PGE₂ applied intravaginally. These results are significant considering that very low doses of E₂ were used when compared to previous attempts. Despite the inadequate response to treatments in some of the gilts, the local effects of these hormones on the histological properties of the porcine cervix suggest that further improvements in the vaginal administration route might help to elaborate new methods for enhancing the luteal function in the pig.

Opis:: The expression of CD14+ macrophages, CD4+, CD8+ lymphocytes and mRNA of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) was investigated in the endometrium of repeat breeders with subclinical endometritis [experimental group (EXP), n = 10] and healthy [control group (CTRL), n = 10] cows. The cows were selected on the basis of repeat breeding (3 unsuccessful inseminations), clinical and cytological examinations (> 10% polymorphonuclear neutrophils in uterine smears obtained by cytobrush). From all the cows endometrial biopsies were collected and the presence of CD14+, CD4+ and CD8+ cells in the endometrium was evaluated immunohistochemically using semi quantitative counting method. The mRNA expression of iNOS was determined using reverse transcription-PCR. In general, there were no significant differences between EXP and CTRL groups in the expression of CD4+ and CD8 + lymphocytes in all endometrial structures. In contrast, we observed a higher number of CD14+ macrophages in repeat breeding group compared to the control cows, however, this difference was slightly pronounced. CD14+ cells were detectable only in the stratum compactum and stratum spongiosum. The statistically significant (p ≤ 0.05) higher expression of iNOS mRNA was measured in the cows with subclinical endometritis compared to the healthy animals. Our results suggest that the increased expression of CD14+ macrophages and iNOS mRNA may be associated with embryonal mortality in repeat breeding cows with subclinical endometritis.
