Opis:
The objective of the paper is to present selected areas of human resource management as applied to the personnel of public employment services, with primary emphasis on the specifics of the functions and tasks performed by these services as well as the determinants of their performance. Research was conducted in the county–level branches of the public employment services of the voivodeship of Lower Silesia. Opis:
Purpose: In response to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, many employers have decided to switch to remote work. This form of work has become a new professional reality for employees representing all generations. Each of them in their own way found themselves in these new working conditions. The article focuses on the experience of the youngest cohort of workers in this regard. The main goal of the paper is to recognize the experience of Generation Z employees in the area of remote work and to identify key factors that, in the opinion of representatives of Generation Z, favor or limit remote work in an uncertain time of Covid-19. Design/methodology/approach: The authors conducted a diagnostic survey with a survey questionnaire. The questionnaire was carried out using the CAWI method. It was filled in by 334 respondents who represent Generation Z, professionally active, who worked remotely during the pandemic. As many as 310 questionnaires were selected for the final analysis. Findings: Young people like the model of remote work because they can derive many benefits from it. Representatives of Generation Z wonder whether the return to office work will deprive them of their privileges and make them submit to a certain discipline and rules applicable there. Research limitations/implications: Due to the limitations of the research sample it is important to underline that generalizing the research results must be done with caution. The authors of the article intend to continue the research carried out on the discussed topic, as well as in the field of adaptability to remote work of other three generations: Y, X, and BB. Practical implications: Recognition of experience of both employers and young employees in the field of remote work, there is a great opportunity for new solutions in HRM and work management, more relevant to the challenges of the pandemic and post-pandemic world of work. Originality/value: The paper analyzes the remote work experience of employees in pandemic reality. Its value is to look at the issue from the perspective of the experience of the youngest employees representing Generation Z. The article is addressed to human resources managers.

Opis:
Theoretical background: The limited number of scientific studies on the specifics of the professional identity formation of paramedics makes it possible to conclude that this subject is insufficiently identified. In addition, the growing demand for medical professions, including paramedics, has led the authors to fill the research gap related to the recognition of the real professional identity of future representatives of the discussed profession. Accepting the fact that professional identity of paramedics is formed at different stages of the professional life of the person practicing the job, the authors took up the challenge of looking at the problem in question from the perspective of, inter alia, the identification of key determinants of the choice of this profession, the accompanying values and motivations, as well as the degree of fulfilment of expectations from the process of preparation for this profession offered in the framework of higher education.Purpose of the article: The article draws attention to a very important stage in the process of shaping the professional identity of paramedics, which is the higher-level of education. Its purpose is to recognize the opinions of students of the last year of emergency medical care about their values, motivations that determined the choice of this field of study and the competences acquired by them.  These elements determine the degree of satisfaction of students with the broadly understood process of study and, consequently, the forming of their professional identity. Research methods: The article refers to the results of own research conducted among students of the last year in the field of medical rescue service at the Medical University of Wroclaw. The study covered a four-year period and was done each time in the second quarter of 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. The authors of the article conducted a diagnostic survey using the authors' survey questionnaire.Main findings: Future paramedics, while undertaking higher studies in the said field, though internally convinced that their decisions were right, were guided by different values and motivations. Among the most important were the desire to pursue their passions, fulfill dreams, care for their own health, family and relationships with friends. Work as a value and the directly related need to help others, as well as the resulting economic benefits, were not considered the most important for future paramedics at that moment. The identified dissonance pertaining to the degree of fulfilment of expectations towards the process of education and the degree of benefits gained from that process demonstrate a limited level of satisfaction from preparation for the studied profession.Implications/Recommendations: The attempt made in the article to insight into the professional identity of future paramedics, and in particular the weaknesses and concerns identified in relation to the learned profession, certainly invite further research that can contribute to both, improving the current education system and taking action by further actors in the subsequent stages of shaping this identity. Taking into account the concerns identified by future paramedics and the enormity of tasks they are going to face, the professional predisposition as well as psychophysical characteristics of potential candidates should be taken into account at the stage of recruitment for the studies. In this context the teaching time should be increased for such subjects as psychology, patient communication and stress management. So far, the Polish education system of paramedics offers no planned career path, no vertical differentiation and promotion during professional work, which would certainly be a motivating factor. Continuous professional development should be an important element, which could enable them to develop their professional identity from learning "doing the work of a paramedic" to "being a paramedic".

Purpose: The article's primary goal is to identify the most important values in the life of representatives of Generation Z after their experience of remote work in an uncertain time of COVID-19 pandemic and critical competencies essentials at home-office. Design/methodology/approach: The authors conducted a diagnostic survey with a survey questionnaire. The questionnaire was carried out using the CAWI method. It was filled in by 310 respondents who represent Generation Z, are professionally active and worked remotely during the pandemic. Frequency and percentage statistics and descriptive parametric were applied in the statistical evaluation. Research limitations/implications: The authors intend to continue the research carried out in the discussed topic, as well as in the field of adaptability to remote work of other three generations, i.e., Y, X and BB. Due to the limitations of the research sample, it is important to underline that generalizing the research results must be done with caution. Practical implications: Human resource managers are challenged to develop the competencies necessary for effective work in a virtual environment. It is also a guideline for which areas employees need support and appropriate training policy. Originality/value: Our paper contributes to the latest insight into essential competencies for Gen Z in remote work. EMPLOYEE ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS
Opis:
Implementation of periodic employee assessment systems into companies is a difficult and complex process. It consists of many mutually–related phases such as design, implementation, utilization, monitoring, and control. The approach to each of these as well as the quality of solutions applied within their framework determines the success or failure of the entire operation. The authors of this article concentrate on the design phase of the periodic employee assessment system. Many of the difficulties in achieving assessment system targets have their genesis in this phase of work. The objective of this article is to show the role and importance of the design phase in the success of the entire venture - the introduction and effective utilization of periodic employee assessment systems in economic practice. The authors have attempted to formulate the prime guidelines in implementing this phase as well as to make evaluating entities aware of the types of threats they should look out for and how they can be presented.
