Opis:
Vertical jump height is recognised as a determinant factor in elite volleyball performance. In previous studies there are different opinions on whether vertical jump height performance improves during maturation or not. The aim of this study was to assess the differences in jumping abilities in two different age groups of female volleyball players and to determine the take-off efficiency during repeated jumps. Methods: Seventeen female volleyball players from two different age categories – adults and under 16 years – participated in this study. Quattro Jump 9290BA force platform (Kistler, Winterthur, Switzerland) was used to assess the jumping performance during squat jumps, counter movement jumps, and 45-second continuous jumps. Results: Jumping performance did not differ significantly between the two groups. The main efficiency of the conversion of mechanical work into mechanical energy was only 24% and it decreased during the test. Conclusions: The influence of age on the jumping performance in a group of female volleyball players was not confirmed. Take-off efficiency was in both groups quite low and it did not improve during the test.

It is possible to state that the organisation and way of functioning of the state administration has gone and will be going through an incessant development process, which has responded and will be responding to the changes and needs of the society. The analysis, which can be considered as an audit made for certain clients groups, is, besides others, also a starting point for the elaboration of an overall municipality strategy. The analysis can be realised by means of primary or secondary research. The present state of our society and the developmental tendencies taken in consideration, it is clear that the existence of leisure activities system will be a significant element in the decision-making processes of state employees on all levels of state (public) administration. The relationship between those who can influence the outer forces and those who occupy positions in the leisure-time organisations defines the dynamics of the future development. The role of municipalities in the domain of public services cannot be replaced. That is why it is necessary to study the opinions and attitudes of employees responsible on the local scale. It is also important for the information transfer and communication to be realized rapidly.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to assess the differences in plantar pressure distribution and in posture during slow and very slow walking on the treadmill in flat and high-heeled shoes. Methods: The Pedar-X® (Novel, Munich, Germany) measuring insoles were used to measure the plantar pressure distribution and to assess temporal parameters during walking on the treadmill with the speed v1 = 0.97 ms–1 and v2 = 0.56 ms–1 in flat shoes (FS) and HH. For postural measurement, the SonoSens Monitor Analyzer (Gefremed, Chemnitz, Germany) was used. Thirty healthy females who only occasionally wear HH volunteered to participate in the study (age: 21.8 ± 2.09 years, weight: 55.7 ± 4.05 kg, height: 1.66 ± 0.03 m). For statistical analysis the ANOVA, and paired t-test were used. Results: Significant differences in walking in HH were detected in temporal and plantar pressure variables, compared to FS. The walking speed influenced the temporal variables, but not the measured dynamic parameters, in either shoes. In the sagittal plane, significant differences in all sections of the spine were identified for v1 and v2. While walking in HH, lordosis at lumbar spine decreased significantly as well as at cervical spine, and kyphosis increased in the thoracic spine. In HH statistically significant differences between the walking speeds were observed particularly in the thoracic spine. Conclusions: Walking in high heels caused a plantar pressure changes and curvature of the spine, and the slowing of walking speed did not prevent these changes.

Opis:
The growth of mountain biking can be generally viewed as a positive phenomenon in the time of broadly discussed physical inactivity. At the same time, in order to maintain sustainability of biking on trails, it appears useful to be aware of the latent or already obvious conflicts related to the activity. The social conflict developing between the bikers and the hikers. Environmental damage has been the main concern on the side of those who prefer foot travel on trails. There are three common practices conflicting with sustainable use of the natural environment in mountain biking. These practices include off trail riding causing erosion, on or off trail riding on hiking trails through areas serving as natural habitat for protected animals, and erosion caused by increased concentration of visitors during mass bike events and competitions. Our case study presents one that has grown to surprising success and regional popularity in one of the economically weakest parts of the Czech Republic (the Rychlebské stezky arena above Cerna Voda, a rural village located near Jesenik). There have built about sixty kilometers of trails built exclusively for biking.

Opis:
Wearing high-heeled shoes (HH) is a wide-spread practice among Western women, maintaining popularity despite its harmful potential. We examined the main motivation behind wearing HH in female students, as well as the possible change to wearing HH among the research participants. Methods: Thirty university students (N=30 females, age 21.8±2.09 years; weight: 55.7±4.05 kg, height: 1.66±0.03 m, BMI: 20.34±1.41 kg.m-2, shoe size: EU 36-38), who rarely wore HH. The participants wore HH for no longer than 6 hours per month during the period two past years. The SonoSens Monitor Analyzer system (Gefremed, Chemnitz, Germany) was used to observe participants' posture when walking and movements in individual sections of their spines. In a comparative experiment, the correlation between variables recorded when walking in two types of shoes was identified. The first pair of shoes (HH) had 7 cm heels whereas the second were flat sport shoes (FS). Results: The evaluation of participants' spines and posture when walking in HH and FS revealed significant differences (p < 0.05). The evaluation of the initial and follow-up surveys indicates that the main motivation for wearing HH among the test group was to increase their attractiveness and respond to social expectations. After participating in the research and becoming aware of its outcomes and issues, the test group's attitude to wearing HH has changed. Conclusions: In regards to good posture and spinal health, this study has raised some awareness amongst its participants, and has therefore proved to be a significant positive influence.
