Praktyka sądowa pokazuje, że działający w najlepszej wierze i przekonani o prawdziwości swoich zeznań świadkowie popełniają rażące błędy, wskazując jako sprawców przestępstw osoby niewinne. Niniejszy artykuł omawia źródła tego rodzaju błędów. Argumentuje się, że fałszywe zeznania nie są spowodowane przez wyjątkowe okoliczności, w jakich znalazła się osoba będąca świadkiem przestępstwa lecz, że są one efektem standardowych procesów poznawczych. W artykule dokonano przeglądu najważniejszych mechanizmów poznawczych odpowiedzialnych za pojawienie się błędów zarówno w trakcie percepcyjnego rejestrowania popełnianego przestępstwa jak i w procesie jego pamięciowej rekonstrukcji. Zdecydowana większość prac poświęconych wiarygodności świadka dotyczy przypadków, w których uczestniczyli świadkowie naoczni. Niniejsze opracowanie podejmuje także kwestię wiarygodności świadka nausznego
Knowledge based on juidicial practice shows that witnesses who are fully convinced about truthfulness of their testimonies make dramatic mistakes and identify innocent persons as responsible for grave crimes. The present paper searches for sources of these mistakes. It is argued that false testimonies are not caused by conditions which are unusual for ordinary person who observes crime. Actually, they are an outcome of standard cognitive processes. The paper presents and analyses main cognitive mechani- sms which are responsible for false perception or false retrieval of witnessed crime. The majority of research focuses on credibility of an eyewitness. The present study extends the question of witness credibility to earwitnesses.

The aim of this text is an attempt to show different perspectives of the aspect of childhood spent as an emigrant, in this case in Norway. The stereotype describing this Scandinavian country as not very different culturally from Poland is a subject worth going into more deeply. Childhood spent outside the home country may have different faces. This article shows both the aspect of cultural differences and expectations connected with emigration and also brings the reader to a place in which he or she may objectively find out whether the common opinion on the ease of children’s integration into the culture of another country is misleading or not.

This article provides an insight into the contemporary level of gender equality that characterizes Swedish news programs. The study is based on available data and reports regarding women’s status in the newsroom, as well as their opportunities and access to the process of making news. The study analyses Swedish public service channels’ policy concerning women’s and men’s equal rights in the newsroom and the reflection of this in practice. The main aim of the article is to explore whether Swedish news is really as gender neutral as expected and what needs to be improved to achieve actual gender balance.

In this article there have been analysed the personal documents, the essays and journalism-like genres describing the events of the Ukrainian Dignity Revolution and the War in Donbass. The narratives included are very diverse in the terms of the speakers, their social status, the specificity of their jobs and the ways of getting involved in the history.

W artykule przeanalizowano powieść Żanny Słoniowskiej Dom z witrażem pod kątem relacji pomiędzy zamieszkującymi go czterema pokoleniami kobiet. Skoncentrowano się na procesie kształtowania się tożsamości najmłodszej bohaterki. Przeanalizowano wpływ, jaki wywarły na nią doświadczenia terroru i wojny, które spotkały jej prababkę i babkę, a także zaangażowanie polityczne oraz śmierć matki. Poszukiwano także odpowiedzi na pytanie o miejsce, jakie w procesie kształtowania się jej tożsamości zajmuje Lwów i jego pejzaż semantyczny.
Метою даної статті є аналіз роману Жанни Слоньовської Дім з вітражем з точки зору стосунків між чотирма поколіннями жінок, які там проживали. Основна увага дослідниці приділялася процесові формування особистості наймолодшої героїні. Авторка статті проаналізувала вплив, який на згадану героїню мали переживання терору та війни прабабусею та бабусею, а також політична заангажованість та смерть матері. У процесі літературних досліджень було також зроблено спробу знайти відповідь на питання про місце, яке Львів та його смисловий пейзаж займають у процесі формування ідентичності головної героїні.
In the article, the novel House with a stained glass by Żanna Słoniowska was analysed in terms of relations between the four generations of women living in it. The focus was on the process of shaping the identity of the youngest heroine. The impact of the experience of terror and war on her grandmother and grandmother, as well as the political involvement and death of her mother were analysed. I also looked for an answer to the question about the place that Lviv and its semantic landscape occupy in the process of shaping her identity.

Femininity and sacrum in the works of Lesya Ukrainka analyzes the inspiration she drew from the Bible, the Apocrypha, as well as early Christian writing and tradition. It is mostly focused on two works, Я бачила, як ти хиливсь додолу… and То, може, станеться і друге диво, written after the dead of her soul mate Serhiy Merzhynsky. The author seeks solace in evoking the two women accompanying Christ on his way to Calvary – St. Veronica and St. Mary Magdalene. This paper investigates the works of Lesya Ukrainka from the vantage point of the participation of women in the Salvation History and their contributions into the development of the Christian faith.

Дослідження сконцентроване на двох творах: Я бачила, як ти хиливсь додолу… i То, може, станеться і друге диво, написаних після смерті Сергія Мержинського, де авторка, шукаючи для себе втіхи, звертається до образів двох жінок, які супроводжували Христа на Голгофу – Вероніки і Марії-Магдалени.

The article analyses the extended interview Dialogue Heals all Wounds carried out by Marek Tomalik, the head of the foreign department of the Catholic Information Agency, with Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Major Archbishop of Kiev, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, published in 2018 by the Znak Publishing House. The focus is on the genre features that allow to categorise this text as autobiographical literature. When analysing the memories of the main character, special attention is devoted to the construction of his personal, group, and national identity in the text.

In this paper I analyze the way of construing memory and identity in the works of Lviv-based artist Olena Kostiuk. I place particular emphasis on two of her projects: The Orchard and The Mirror. In both of them the artists refers to Ukrainian archetypes, testimonies and material remnants of the past, using them in her performance, forcing the audience to rethink human condition as well as their own attitude towards the past, the tradition, and the nation.

The article analyzes a volume of literary reports by Ê. Gončarova Desʹ poruč vìjna. The texts that the writers come out from under the pen are deeply rooted in the described reality, not only thought out but also lived. Jelizaweta Honcharova writes reports from the war which brutally invaded her life (she comes from Artemivsk herself). In the texts, however, we will not fi nd despair, complaint or grief and pictures of the life of the areas through which the war is swept. The protagonists of the reports Desʹ poruč vìjna are people repeatedly subjected to war. The writer looks at their reactions to the next challenges, the struggle for survival, the safety of his family, and fi nally the normal living conditions. Jelizaweta Honcharova notices their confusion, the doubts on which side of the confl ict should be told. Without pathos and judgment, it shows the drama of political divisions and choices in which the boundary between being a patriot and a traitor is often not sharp clear może. He leans over a drama of broken families, confl icts and despair that break out in them. The author presents a war that kills childhood. It takes your big and smaller dreams away irretrievably. The drama of war presented by the writer takes place on many levels. The most important of them is probably the sphere of family life. War violates the basic tissue of relationships for children. Thanks to the reports of Honcharova, the reader notices the whole range of problems that a young man encounters. The reports are full of pain but also the awareness of the good that happens between people even in such inhuman times. They constitute a kind of testimony of history, designed to protect against possible attempts to manipulate it in the future. Thus, Honcharova gives them supra-regional and timeless dimension.

In this paper I analyse the ways in which the traditions of the old Lvov are reconstructed and incorporated into the flow of culture. I do so using as an example the works of three young Ukrainian artists: Olya Kravchenko, Uliana Nyshchuk-Borysiak and Ostap Lozinsky. Special attention is devoted to a project called “10 х 10 сто wIkon Львова”, in which the artists focus on the painter’s iconographic interpretation of selected events, legends and stories from city’s history.
