    Opis:
    Till l’Espiègle – a theatrical production based on the Journal of Vaslav Nijinski, a Russian dancer of Polish descent – is a play of the Francophone theater. This play was presented for the first time in 1982 by a Quebec actor, Gabriel Arcand, in the Groupe de la Veillée of the Prospero Theater of Montreal. The theme of God is the main subject of the production. In this article, we are trying to demonstrate the dichotomy of the Nijinski’s microcosm: divided between the sacrum and profanum.

    This article intends to confront the literary and stage functioning of Lui, the protagonist of the Knut Hamsun’s novel Hunger (1890) and of the play of the same name created by Téo Spychalski within the theatre company, Groupe de la Veillée, in Montreal, in 1996. Using the terminological concepts developed by David Le Breton, professor of sociology at the University of Strasbourg, I explore various aspects of the notion of pain present in the novel and its stage adaptation. What is particularly interesting for me in both texts is the influence of pain on the existence of a human being, on the life of an individual.

    This article is an analysis of two plays by a great French literature writer, Albert Camus: Caligula (1945) and Le Malentendu (The Misunderstanding, sometimes published as Cross Purpose, 1944). After a careful presentation of the plots of the play, we are proposing a definition of the following terms: the absence and the void. Afterwards, we examine the nature of the absences presented and we offer a classification of such absences. We establish four categories of the void: philosophical, spiritual, physical, and the absence of the closest kin. A re-reading of the dramaturgical texts serves to appreciate the manner in which these texts are presented to the reader/spectator and to prove that the Camusian void is in a strict relation with an existential pain associated with the absence of God in people’s life.

    Le présent article propose une étude de la crise des relations familiales à partir d’une sélection de six pièces de dramaturges africains contemporains peu étudiés jusqu’ici. Après avoir présenté les problèmes rencontrés par ces jeunes dramaturges africains face à l’utilisation de la langue et aux difficulté de publier leurs textes, l’étude aborde différents types de crise que peut vivre aujourd’hui une famille africaine : crise d’adolescence dans Bintou de Koffi Kwahulé (Côte d’Ivoire), « crise » financière dans La Dernière enveloppe de Pierre Mumbere Mujomba (République démocratique du Congo), crise familiale liée à l’inceste dans Einsteinnette de David-Minor Ilunga (RDC), crise sociale dans Tour de contrôle de Célestin Kasongo (RDC), crise de couple dans À bout de sueurs de Hakim Bah (Guinée), crise migratoire dans Passe pas, l’homme ! de Faustin Keoua-Leturmy.
    This article – focusing on five selected plays by contemporary African playwrights, until now sparsely analyzed – offers a hermeneutic study about the crisis of family relationships. After presenting the difficulties encountered by young African playwrights with their link to the use of a single language and the problems of publishing their texts, the study addresses different types of crisis that a family, African or not, is experiencing at the present time: adolescent crisis in Bintou by Koffi Kwahulé (Ivory Coast), financial “crisis” in The Last Envelope by Pierre Mumbere Mujomba (Democratic Republic of the Congo), family crisis related to incest in Einsteinnette by David-Minor Ilunga ( DRC), social crisis in Célestin Kasongo’s Control Tower (DRC), couple crisis in À bout de sueurs by Hakim Bah (Guinea), migration crisis in Passe pas, l’homme ! by Faustin Keoua-Leturmy (Congo).

    Considered to be one of the founders of Quebec theater, Marcel Dubé began to make his mark on Quebec’s literary scene in the 1950s. In his works, he focused on the underprivileged parts of society to expose a variety of injustices, then attacked the bourgeois in order to charge them with their responsibility for the fate of the Quebec people. After revisiting the historical context that determined the political situation at the dawn of the Quiet Revolution, this article aims to show the playwright’s involvement in the Quebec liberation movement.

    The narrative work of Paul Willems is filled with the presence of the liquid element. While the elements of the aquatic world are often part of novelistic diegesis, they are not as easily rendered in the theater. The article has for its purpose the examination of the presence of the aquatic element in the plays of the Belgian author. Therefore, the hermeneutic study will focus on various manifestations of water, grouped into four thematic parts ranging from metonymic water, through metaphorical and symbolic water, to anthropomorphic water.

    More than thirty years apart, two major figures of the Quebec theater scene – Marcel Dubé and Wajdi Mouawad – take up the mythical story of The King of Thebes, who killed his father and slept with his mother, and propose its "Quebec versions". The two plays, Au retour des oies blanches (1969) and Incendies (2003), are well anchored in the contemporary reality of their respective authors: the Quiet Revolution for Dubé and the civil war in Lebanon for Mouawad. Both returns to the myth of Oedipus depict young people who, like the mythical character, pursue a quest for their roots and reach the end of their respective investigations. This article aims to take up the key elements of the myth and to study their dramaturgical functioning in modern texts.

    In the current article we are examining the presence, importance and significance of weather and seasons in dramatic works of the Belgian writer, Paul Willems. Our study relies upon the methodology of patternsof transitivity proposed by Jean-Pierre Richard. After explaining the principals of our approach, then presenting the corpus of the studied texts and formulating our basic hypothesis concerning the weather, we are reviewing four weather phenomena: the rain, the wind, the snow, and the sun. The completedanalysis confirmed the calming role of the rain, the soothing role of the sun and the warning role of the wind. However, we realized, besides the liberating role of the snow in the introduction, its more complex significance because it “weighs heavily” on the life of the characters.

    In spite of the implications of its name, the Quiet Revolution in Quebec seems to be rather tempestuous at the family level. The conflict between generations, set in a historic context, puts into question the functioning of the entire society, especially the dominant role of the father. The objective of this article, therefore, is to analyze the position of the father in the social context. Thus, I discuss various types of fathers: a farmer father, the patriarch who leaves the household chores to the wife; a worker father, subservient to both his wife at home and to his boss at the factory; a bourgeois father who works for himself; and finally, an immigrant father who seeks his place within the new society.

    The current article – focused on two plays about the killing of a son by his family – has a double objective: firstly it questions the probable source of a folkloric story of the prodigal son, and secondly, it places side by side theatre plays based on a legendary theme. After presenting the playwrights, Karol Hubert Rostworowski and Albert Camus, as well as the terminological propositions of Eric Durnez, the article analyses the convergences and divergences that we find in using the subjects from chronicles quasi mythical.
