Opis:: The structure of a device for the investigation of the contact deformations of flat surfaces under normal load is described. The conditions, for which the device must satisfy in order to ensure normal load are defined. Errors which may occur during the loading of a rough specimen, relating to the mechanical structure of the device, the specimen itself and the measuring systems, are estimated. Finally, the device is subjected to testing which includes specimen roughness measurements before and after loading, the loading and unloading of the specimens in the device and again measuring their roughness. The device developed herein can be characterisedby its vacuum mounting method of the specimen and also by the accurate and simple loading mechanism, i.e., movable member.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę najbardziej użytecznych metod kompensacji błędów obrabiarek oraz na przykładach omówiono skuteczność i ograniczenia poszczególnych metod.
The assurance of top-quality products requires improved machine tool accuracy. The accuracy of the machine tool is primarily effected by the geometric, thermal and others errors. One of the important trends in machine tool development is improving of machine tool design and development of error compensation techniques. This paper presents currently the most useful methods of machine tool error compensation and effectiveness and main constraints of compensation methods.

Opis:: W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań właściwości trakcyjnych koła mikrociągnika w uprawach pszenżyta ozimego i grochu dla różnych uproszczeń uprawowych. Mierzono maksymalną siłę trakcyjną. W celu pełnego opisu badań zmierzono parametry fizyczne gleby oraz wyznaczono maksymalne naprężenia ścinające i zwięzłość gleby. Wykazano wpływ rośliny pszenżyta i grochu na wartości mierzonych parametrów. Siły trakcyjne generowane w uprawie bezorkowej cechowały się mniejszą zmiennością. Określono optymalny przedział obciążenia pionowego.
The paper presents results of a study of traction parameters of a microtractor wheel in different cultivation technologies of winter triticale and pea. The maximum traction forces were measured along with physical parameters of soil. Maximum cutting stress and soil compactness were also measured. As was found, there was a relation between triticale and pea plants and the values of studied parameters. Differences in traction forces generated in no-tillage technology were insignificant. Optimal range for vertical loading was determined.

Opis:: The aim of the research was to investigate the influence of nitriding of the substrate made of 42CrMo4 steel on thermal stability of the antiwear CrCN coating deposited on its surface using Cathodic Arc Evaporation method. Samples of non-nitrided and nitrided substrate/CrCN coating systems were tested with Modulated Temperature Thermodilatometry, which program included system annealing in 26 h, temperature of 290°C and argon atmosphere. Recorded during tests, changes in substrate elongation in response for changes of sample temperature, enabled qualitative determination of changes in stress states in the coatings as a result of samples annealing. Annealing of the system with nitrided substrate resulted in smaller change in residual stress in coating than for the system with non-nitrided substrate, which can indicate its better thermal stability. Values of residual stresses in coatings calculated by sin²ψ method before and after annealing on the basis of tests performed using X-Ray diffraction, agree with results of dilatometric tests.

Opis:: The paper presents the results of investigations of carbon doped austenitic stainless steel coatings (carbon S-phase) obtained by the reactive magnetron sputtering in the reactive atmosphere composed of argon and methane as a carbon source. Stainless steel targets were sputtered under different conditions. During the experiments the argon to methane proportion varied within a range 11/2-7/6. The other parameters such as temperature, pressure, sputtering power, etc. were kept constant. The phase composition was determined using the X-ray diffraction. Electron probe microanalysis (energy dispersive spectroscopy and wavelength dispersive spectroscopy) and glow discharge optical emission spectrometry techniques were used to study element composition of the coatings. Microstructure was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. It was found that varying the methane volume in the reactive atmosphere, it is possible to control the lattice parameter of the carbon S-phase.

Opis:: Composite structures are made of two or more components with significantly different physical or chemical properties and they remain separate and distinct in a macroscopic level within the finished structure. This feature allows for introducing optical fiber sensors into the composite material. These sensors can demonstrate stress distribution inside tested material influenced by external tensions. Two types of the optical fiber sensors are used as the 3D structure. One of them is based on application of fiber Bragg grating inside the core of the fiber. Longitudinal stress changes parameters of the Bragg grating and simultaneously, spectral characteristics of the light transmitted through the fiber. The second one is based on application of highly birefringent fibers which, under external stress, introduce polarization changes of the output light.

Opis:: Simulating of workpiece and fixture behaviour is commonly done with the use of Finite Element Analyses. In the most, if not all, cases researchers usually use traditional implicit integration scheme FEM codes (e.g. ANSYS, ABAQUS/Standard, NASTRAN, FEAP). In this paper a different approach is proposed. FEM code of ABAQUS/Explicit, based on explicit integration of equations of the motion is used to predict workpiece behaviour during alignment and fixing process in quasistatic state. Comparison of results obtained using both implicit and explicit techniques is also presented, results and differences are discussed.

Opis:: This paper presents a general characteristic of modern cutting machine tools and their role in achieving high machining performance. The determinants of machine tool development, stemming from the constant development of products and their complexity and from market demands, are discussed in detail. Special attention is devoted to the improvement of the machine tool structure and its variations created in response to the continuous and flexible increase in machining efficiency. The importance of developing multitask, hybrid and reconfigurable structures is discussed. The essence of the development of multi-spindle units as the modules having a decisive influence on machining performance, precision and costs is described. Moreover, trends in the development of feed units and distance measuring systems are presented.

Opis:: This paper discusses the need to create intelligent machine tools, the expected properties of such machine tools and the benefits they will bring to business and the development of manufacturing. The basis for machine tool intelligence, and the evolution of machine tools towards the development of their intelligent functions, with a special emphasis on control, digitization and virtualization systems, the role of the STP-NC standard, and the prediction of machine tool operating properties, are presented. The arising concepts of the development of intelligent machine tool functions, which take into account the monitoring and planning of a collisionless tool path, are discussed. The approach to achieving real time and the intelligent machine tool is described for copy milling. Also the directions of implementing intelligent functions by machine tool manufacturers are presented using the MAZAK Corporation as an example.

Opis:: Elements of theory of divisibility are present in many various interesting mathematical tasks, especially in tasks that are addressed to talented pupils taking part in mathematical competitions. Good understanding of it lets solve very interesting and difficult (at first glance) issues. On the other hand, there are a lot of problems with understanding such terms as: multiple, divisor, divisibility, prime number, LCM, GCD etc. The purpose of the article is presenting the base terms of theory in the language understood for pupil of the gymnasium (3-rd educational level, 13-16 years old). In addition, we present some algorithms that are used to solve problems from the theory of divisibility and we discuss the influence the choice of the algorithm on its effectiveness (so we analyse its complexity). Presented algorithms let us create computer programs that solve the problems mechanically. We also enlarge a bit some topics for those ones which can be taught in the class of pupils which are interested in Mathematics.
