Referring to the concepts of liquid modernity by Bauman, in the text I will analyze the stories of selected characters of children’s and teenagers’ contemporary books who had to face the problems of happiness, consumption, responsibility and crisis of identity. To contrast the issue of getting rid of one’s “self” in the contemporary culture, I analyze the attitudes of literary characters immersed in the war reality, i.e., in the time when it was really “hectic” and when hiding one’s identity was absolutely necessary to survive.

Autorka tekstu wskazuje na problem emocjonalnego osamotniania dziecka we współczesnej dziecięco-młodzieżowej literaturze pięknej. Osamotnienie dziecka rozumie jako brak związku psychicznego z rodzicami, jego subiektywne poczucie niekochania przez nich, emocjonalnego odtrącania. Omawia różne wymiary osamotnienia oraz przeżycia dziecka osamotnionego emocjonalnie. Wskazuje na edukacyjne wartości lektur, które mogą być wykorzystane np. na lekcjach języka polskiego na III i IV poziomie kształcenia, w celach uwrażliwiania czytelnika, kształtowania jego hierarchii wartości, tożsamości osobistej i społecznej, przy omawianiu zagadnień egzystencjalnych oraz na lekcjach wiedzy o społeczeństwie przy zagadnieniach przyczyn i skutków stygmatyzacji społecznej oraz omawianiu ochrony praw człowieka.
The author of this paper indicates the problem of the child’s emotional loneliness in contemporary bell literature addressed to child and youth. Loneliness of the child is understood as a lack of mental relation with their parents, the subjective feeling of not loving by them, emotional rebuffs. The author discusses the different dimensions of loneliness and points to the educational values of the analyzed books, which can be used for example on polish lessons for III and IV level of education, for the purpose of sensitizing the readers, shaping their hierarchy of values, personal and social identity and as well as on social science lessons during discussing the causes and consequences of social stigmatization or discussing about the human rights.

Maria Ostasz w jednym z artykułów dokonuje przeglądu – syntezy polskiej prozy dla dzieci i młodzieży drugiej połowy XX wieku. Wymienia powieści dziecięco-młodzieżowe, baśnie, przykłady fantastyki literackiej, a także liczące się ośrodki badań nad literaturą dziecięco-młodzieżową oraz mechanizmy sterowania ówczesnym rynkiem czytelniczym. Niniejszy tekst, podkreślający potrzebę ciągłości badań historyczno-literackich literatury czwartej czy osobnej, jak zwykło się określać literaturę dla dzieci i młodzieży, zawierać będzie przegląd – próbę syntezy polskiej prozy dziecięcej początków XXI stulecia: jej warunki rozwoju, problematykę oraz wartości (estetyczne, społeczno-kulturowe, moralne), jakie ze sobą niesie. Dokonuję przeglądu problematyki prozy dla dzieci, którą odnajdziemy na stronie Polskiej Sekcji IBBY – Stowarzyszenia Przyjaciół Książki dla Młodych oraz Fundacji ABC, prozy ważnej ze względu na pełnione funkcje: teleologiczną, aktywizującą, kompensacyjną, terapeutyczną, dydaktyczno-wychowawczą, edukacyjno-poznawczą i ludyczną.
The text contains the attempt of the synthesis of the Polish children’s prose of beginnings of the XXI century – conditions for the development of this artistic work, its issues and values (social and cultural, moral, aesthetic). I am making the trial of classification of issues of the prose for children which we can find on the Polish side of the Section IBBY and of the Foundation ABC; important prose on account of performed functions: teleological, activating, compensating, therapeutic, teaching, educational.

Celem artykułu jest propozycja wykorzystania w edukacji dziecka książek dysponujących potencjałem uwrażliwiania na drugiego człowieka (często „Innego”), budowania z nim więzi, poszukiwania emocjonalnej wspólnoty doświadczeń. W interesującej mnie wybranej najnowszej polskiej prozie dla dzieci (mam tu na myśli literaturę dla dzieci ostatnich dwóch dekad, a więc po 2000 roku), którą poddałam analizie, zauważyłam kociego bohatera występującego zdecydowanie często w kontekście problematyki odmienności społeczno-kulturowej. Postać kota w analizowanych testach została wykorzystana do praktycznych celów, stała się poetyckim chwytem budzącym pozytywne skojarzenia, sprzyjającym kształtowaniu u dzieci wartości i uczuć wyższych. W książkach zauważam odniesienia do założeń edukacji międzykulturowej, stąd uważam, że mogą one stanowić pomoc rodzicom, nauczycielom i wychowawcom w przygotowaniu dziecka do spotkania z Innym, do koegzystowania, współpracy z nim, koleżeństwa czy przyjaźni. Książki ukazują różne oblicza dzieciństwa, dziecię ce dramaty przeżywane przez rówieśników w różnych częściach świata, groźne aspekty wojny, problemy imigracji i migrantów.
The aim of the article is to use books in a child’s education that have the potential to sensitize the other person (often the “Other”), build relationships with the “Other”, searching for an emotional community of experiences. In the selected one, interesting to me, the latest Polish prose for children (I mean literature after 2000), which I have analyzed, I noticed cat’s hero occurring very often in the context of the issue of socio-cultural diversity. In the analyzed tests, cat figure, has been used for practical purposes, has become poetic grip evoking positive associations, conducive to shaping values and higher feelings in children. In books I notice references to the assumptions of intercultural education, hence I think that they can help parents, teachers, educators in preparing the child for meeting the Other, to co-exist, cooperate with him/her, to companionship or friendship. Books show different faces of childhood, children’s dramas experienced by peers in different parts of the world, dangerous aspects of the war, problems of immigration and migrants.

W komunikacie zwracam uwagę na problemy wychowawcze w relacjach matki z dzieckiem na przykładzie wybranej współczesnej prozy polskiej adresowanej głównie do nastoletniego czytelnika. Bohaterkami powieści Barbary Ciwoniuk Musisz to komuś powiedzieć; Grzegorza Kasdepke Poradnik hodowcy aniołów; Joanny Jagiełło Kawa z kardamonem; Ewy Nowackiej Małe kochanie, wielka miłość; Anny Onichimowskiej Najwyższa góra świata są dziewczyny–nastolatki odczuwające dojmujący brak bliskości relacji z matką, cierpiące na niedobór witaminy M (miłości). Analizowana literatura dotyka problemu samotnego, niedojrzałego czy wręcz toksycznego macierzyństwa i wynikającego z niego osamotnienia dziecka, które rozumiane jest jako stan dyskomfortu psychicznego dziecka, zainicjowany brakiem bliskich więzi z rodzicami, poczuciem niezaspokojonej potrzeby bezpieczeństwa, uznania, a przede wszystkim miłości1 . Zauważyłam i wyróżniłam w analizowanej literaturze cztery typy matek: 1. Matki niedojrzałe do swojej roli, które określiłam jako matki „jak nastolatki”, następnie 2. Nastoletnie matki, 3. Matki sfrustrowane i cierpiące na emocjonalne zaburzenia oraz 4. Matki adopcyjne. W powieściach zwraca uwagę fakt, jak pełne skomplikowanych wyborów jest życie nastolatka, jak trudno mu samemu uporać się z niektórymi i jak bardzo w tym okresie potrzebne jest mu emocjonalne wsparcie bliskich osób, ich autorytet i pozytywne wzorce wychowawcze.
The eternal longing of educators was a dream of using the books to guide the thoughts and actions of pupils and shape them according to the established model. Examples of Polish prose for young readers presented in this paper, are images of difficult relationships between mothers and children. The selected books can drive strong emotions during the reading to both generations- the parents and children. These books are also for a common reading and for common “purification”. The author indicates certain patterns and “not- patterns” in the relationships of mothers with their children serving, for a large extent, a function of education (mother like “teenagers”, teenage mothers, frustrated mothers, adoptive mother).

In this paper, I have presented selected views about motherhood over the centuries, and I have highlighted several widely discussed, current issues concerning the maternal role of a woman. I made a review- reconnaissance research of historical sources, but also contemporary ones, on the border of cultural studies, cultural anthropology, gender studies, pedagogy and sociology. I asked myself, somewhat rhetorical, what it means to be a good and loving mother, realizing, that this type of thinking had origins in the eighteenth century, as well as that, it is an immeasurable question.

In this article, I discuss various issues related to the region and regional education, and their manifestation in the core curriculum of primary schools. To that end I have compared two core curricula (from 2002 and 2008) that were implemented in public schools but not applied at all levels of general education. First, I explain the meaning of three terms: region, regionalism, and regional education. Then I turn to the manifestation of regional issues in both curricula. Upon comparison, I found that the curriculum from 2008 does not advance the concept of little homeland but relies on the ideas promulgated in the 2002 curriculum. As the state regulations from 2008 granted teachers more freedom to choose from different topics, the main changes in advancing regional issues have been seen in the in the first, third, and fourth stage of education. The second stage of education, however, has remained largely unchanged with almost no discussion of regional issues.

In the Polish Second Republic, so in the country rebom afiter one hundred twenty three years of captivity, the role of a woman as a woman-mother, was significantly emphasized. Press, literature, researchers have proved that safety and order in the whole country depend on safety and order in individual families. The key notion became: „from education of a mother to education of a child”. While analyzing sources such as newspapers, magazines, diaries, guidebooks, I noticed the following values for which mothers in rural families were held to be responsible: 1 ,value of work connected with obligation in farm and household, so role of mother asahousewife; 2.the value of the family as a community and the mother's role in it. Mother was the first protector, tutor, patron of a child. Mother took care of child and other members in the family, she helped them, she guaranteed the positive atmosphere at home, took care of safety in a wide context. It was significant that mother appealed in the process of socialization to common traditions and experiences; 3.value of education and social consciousness, so the role of the mother in shaping social consciousness; 4.patriotic value, so the role of the mother in shaping patriotic attitude.

Opis:
Children’s literature of the last decade of the 21st century presents a number of narratives that show the need to be attentive to numerous situations that threaten to exclude a person from certain social groups. These books can be described as particularly sensitive to harm of the neighbour. The aim of the article is to show the fate of literary heroes in selected children’s books, in which they directly or indirectly face the problem of discrimination and social exclusion. The situations that I would like to draw attention to are: homelessness of another person, poverty, exile. My goal is achieved by analyzing selected children’s literature of both Polish and foreign (mainly Swedish) writers. The text is composed of two parts. In the first, I present the existing state of knowledge in social sciences and humanities on social exclusion and the process of non-existence, in the second part of the text, I present conclusions from the content analysis of selected children’s literature. Each of the books selected for analysis can function in the early school readership as close to the ideas of intercultural education and philosophy of dialogue.
Literatura adresowana do dzieci, szczególnie ostatniej dekady XXI wieku, prezentuje szereg narracji uwidaczniających potrzebę bycia uważnym na liczne sytuacje zagrożenia wykluczeniem człowieka z określonych grup społecznych. Dokonałam wyboru literatury, którą należy traktować jako narzędzie w procesie uwrażliwiania na krzywdę bliźniego. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie losów bohaterów literackich w wybranych książkach dziecięcych, w których, bezpośrednio bądź pośrednio, mierzą się oni z problemem wykluczenia społecznego. Sytuacje, na które chciałabym zwrócić uwagę, to bezdomność drugiego człowieka, doświadczenie ubóstwa i uchodźctwa. Cel realizuję drogą analizy wybranej literatury dziecięcej, zarówno pisarzy polskich, jak i obcojęzycznych (szwedzkich). Tekst jest złożony z dwóch części. W pierwszej części – teoretycznej, prezentuję istniejący stan wiedzy w naukach społecznych i humanistycznych na temat wykluczania społecznego (mnogość dyskursów), w drugiej części – empirycznej, wnioski z analiz treści wybranej literatury dziecięcej. Wybrane do analiz książki bliskie ideom edukacji międzykulturowej i filozofii dialogu uważam za szczególnie wartościowe i warte metodycznego opracowania we wczesnoszkolnym obiegu czytelniczym. W niniejszym opracowaniu uwypuklam walory praktyczne, wskazuję propozycje wychowawcze do realizacji będące wskazówką dla wychowawców i rodziców młodego pokolenia.

The aim of the text is to present the educational potential of selected books by Iwona Chmielewska - a Polish artist, illustrator, graphic artist. The attention was paid to the content of selected works by the author, which can be treated as tools conducive to work on the development of readers’ imagination and empathy. By analyzing the entire architecture of selected picture books by Chmielewska, they can be seen as an unlimited field that can be used to design „educational opportunities”. The text is an idea of going out to children with an art book, an encouragement to look for others with a similar wealth of metaphors and symbols, so that this type of literature becomes the subject of various forms of school and extracurricular education. The text is structured as follows: explain the meaning of the term picture book; emphasizing the importance of picturebooks in contemporary culture; an attempt to define the characteristic style of Iwona Chmielewska’s books; consider the importance of empathy and imagination for the cultural sensitization of the reader; presenting proposals for educational activities inspired by the books by Iwona Chmielewska. The content analysis method used in the methodology of qualitative research was used.
Celem tekstu jest zaprezentowanie edukacyjnego potencjału wybranych książek Iwony Chmielewskiej - polskiej artystki, ilustratorki, grafika. Zwrócono uwagę na treści wybranych prac autorki, które można traktować jako narzędzia sprzyjające nade wszystko pracy nad rozwojem wyobraźni i empatii czytelników. Analizując całą architekturę wybranych książek obrazkowych toruńskiej artystki, można je postrzegać jako nieograniczone pole mogące służyć projektowaniu „okazji edukacyjnych”, mając na uwadze maksymalizowanie szans rozwojowych dzieci, szczególnie w młodszym wieku szkolnym. Tekst jest pomysłem wyjścia do dzieci z książką artystyczną, zachętą do poszukiwania innych o podobnym bogactwie metafor i symboli, tak aby tego typu literatura stała się przedmiotem różnych form edukacji szkolnej i pozaszkolnej. Tekst ma następującą strukturę: wyjaśnienie rozumienia terminu „książka obrazkowa” (angielska nazwa picturebook); podkreślenie znaczenia picturebooków w kulturze współczesnej; próba określenia charakterystycznego stylu książek Iwony Chmielewskiej; rozważania nad znaczeniem empatii i wyobraźni dla kulturowego uwrażliwiania czytelnika; przedstawienie propozycji działań edukacyjnych zainspirowanych książkami Iwony Chmielewskiej. Wykorzystano metodę analizy treści stosowaną w metodologii badań jakościowych.

Przedstawiam zrealizowany projekt „Poznaj kulturę regionu, czyli bajanie z Żubrozwierzem” – warsztaty artystyczno-edukacyjne dla dzieci w wieku wczesnoszkolnym, jako atrakcyjną propozycję zajęć edukacyjnych. Głównym celem spotkań było przybliżenie dzieciom wielokulturowego bogactwa regionu i jego tradycji poprzez czytanie legend Podlasia.
What is presented in study is the completed project “Explore culture of the region or storytelling with Bison the Animal” – artistic and educational workshops for young schoolchildren, as an attractive proposal for educational activities. The main purpose of the meetings was to introduce children to the culture of the region by reading them the legends of Podlasie.

Baśń o perle (ang. Fairy tale about a pearl) by Anna Gibasiewicz (2016), is a moving story of heroes, whose fates intertwine in extraordinary circumstances, a tale of transformation and searching for the most important things in life. By its form the fairy tale refers to the folk magic tales, the mood of melancholy is similar to Andersen’s fairy tales. The story is addressed to children at the early school age. On its example, I look at the contemporary implementation of the traditional genre, which is a fairy tale and the values carried by the story. I pay attention to fairy tales, which may form the basis for educational activities with children. Analyzing the literary text of Baśń o perle (ang. Fairy tale about pearl) I refer to psychoanalytic interpretations of folk tales made by Bruno Bettelhaim and archetypal critique by Alicja Baluch. Reading fairy tales to the contemporary child still can perform a „miraculous and useful” role in his social and emotional development.

Opis:
Considering the educational value of the category of „hospitality”, I made attempts to a critical reflection on this issue in recent Polish literature for the young audience. The analysis has been subjected the prose in which the issue of hospitality takes on different meanings. First of all is mentioned of hospitality in dimension of culinary and sociosociable, in the sense of kind treat the „food and drink” (the most common understanding of hospitality, when care of the our neighbor is expressed through common eating the prepared food). Secondly is mentioned of hospitality in dimension of family, in the sense of hosting adult children. In this dimension I drew attention to first difficult relationship with the adopted child, when parents start by hosting it, to create a common nest. There is also one more understanding of hospitality, very timely in the current socio-political situation, the intensifying law concerning ethnic and religious minorities in Western Europe, the understanding of hospitality in aspect of cultural, the hospitality to the „other” – culturally different.

The question contained in the title of the dissertation of the great folklore, researcher of the past, a lover of sightseeing trips – Zygmunt Gloger Czy lud polski jeszcze śpiewa? [Does the Polish folk still sing?] was asked, far more than a hundred years ago. It was put to Gloger by a French musician and journalist who was staying in Poland in 1901 to celebrate the opening of the Warsaw Philharmonic. He asked this way, because he was fascinated with musicpieces he had heard on the stage, based “on beautiful folk motifs”. Small size, because only 24-page Gloger’s dissertation issue in 1905 is an attempt to answer the problem raised in the title. Above all, the dissertation is an expression of Gloger’s regret over the changes that took place in contemporary culture, namely forgetting the role of the song for the Slav community. This is way the author knew the achievements of this community, he devoted his whole life tosaving them, he could not understand how contemporary intelligentsia did not see the need for protection, as he described it “our ancient, native and indigenously Slavicnational song and music”. This text is an attempt to analyze Gloger’s essay Czy lud polski jeszcze śpiewa? [Does the Polish folk still sing?], extracting and developing the main theses contained in it, as well as noticing their value today, not forgetting the circumstances of creating the text over 100 years ago.

Autorkę tekstu interesuje literatura kierowana do najmłodszych czytelników poruszająca trudny, nie tylko dla młodego odbiorcy, temat śmierci. W artykule przeprowadzono analizę książek, w których dziecko zderza się ze śmiercią najbliższych mu osób – rodziców: Nieba za domem Gaute Heivolla, Dziewczynki z parku Barbary Kosmowskiej i Ogrodu. Dobrej opowieści na wielki smutek Georga Maaga. Wybrana literatura pełni funkcję terapeutyczną u dzieci borykających się ze stratą ukochanej mamy czy ukochanego taty. Pomaga dzieciom zaakceptować to, co się wydarzyło, a efekt fabuły wzmacniają odpowiednie ilustracje. Analizowane utwory, mimo danych wzorów postępowania po odejściu rodzica, umożliwiają dziecku samodzielne odkrycie sposobu prowadzącego do pokonania lęku związanego ze stratą i ukojenia smutku.
The author of the text are interested in literature addressed to the youngest readers, touching important but difficult, not only for the young audience subject about the death. There is analysis of the following books, in which the child collides with the death of his closest persons – parents: Gaute Heivolla, Himmelen bak huset, Barbara Kosmowska Dziewczynka z parku and Georga Maaga Il giardino. In selecting of literature, the author followed the criteria, which were: the impact of the literature on reader`s emotions, therapeutic possibilities, artistic value (literary and graphic) as well as the original presentation of the subject. The author shows how selected books can help the child giving him support, the ability to overcome the fear and hope for the future.
