Opis:
The most commonly used time-frequency representation of the analysis in voice signal is spectrogram. This representation belongs in general to Cohen’s class, the class of time-frequency energy distributions. From the standpoint of properties of the resolution, spectrogram representation is not optimal. In Cohen class representations are known which have a better resolution properties. All of them are created by smoothing the Wigner-Ville’a distribution characterized by the best resolution, however, the biggest harmful interference. The used smoothing functions decide about a compromise between the properties of resolution and eliminating harmful interference term. Another class of time-frequency energy distributions is the affine class of distributions. From the point of view of readability of analysis of the best properties are known so called Redistribution of energy caused by the use of a general methodology referred to as reassignment to any time-frequency representation. Reassigned distributions efficiently combine a reduction of the interference terms provided by a well adapted smoothing kernel and an increased concentration of the signal components.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of modeling 2D surface roughness parameters in milling by means of an artificial neural network (ANN). The AZ91D magnesium alloy was used. A HSS milling cutter was employed in the research. The main aim of the study was to obtain the lowest possible surface roughness (good quality) using a commonly available HSS cutter. The results of the research work were presented in the form of bar charts, surface charts and graphs depicting the quality of artificial neural networks. The conducted research shows that it is possible to carry out the machining processes that enable obtaining an average surface quality (defined by roughness parameters Ra, Rz, RSm, Rsk). The Ra, Rz, RSm parameters increase along with the machining parameters (fz, ap), as expected. The Rsk parameter takes (in most cases) negative values, which may indicate a surface with more intense friction and indicative of flat-topped distribution. On the other hand, the results of modeling the selected parameters – Ra, Rz, RSm – with the use of artificial neural networks allow concluding that the obtained network models show satisfactory predictive ability (R = 0.99), and thus are an appropriate tool for the prediction of surface roughness parameters.

Opis:
Due to the wide application of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composites in various industries, more and more attention is paid to machining these materials. One of the most popular way of machining composites is the milling. Milling of composite materials (CM) is a difficult technology due to their anisotropic and heterogeneous structure and the fact that the reinforcing fibers have an intense abrasive effect on the tool edge during machining. The appropriate selection of technological cutting parameters as well as the type and geometry of the tool can significantly affect the value of cutting forces during milling and the quality of the surface after machining. The aim of the paper is to assess the influence of used tools (differing in the number of cutting edges) and various technological parameters of surface milling of CFRP composites on the cutting forces occurring during machining and on the surface quality after machining. Cutting forces were measured during the milling process on a special stand produced by Kistler and the roughness measurements and surface structure were analyzed using the Alicona InfiniteFocusG5 3D optical microscope. On the basis of performed research it was found that 14 edge tool gives lower values of Fx and Fy components of the cutting forces comparing to 2 edge tool, which is especially noticeable at higher cutting speed values vc=160 m/min, where the values of Fx and Fy components decreased by about 43% at fz=0.0030 mm/tooth. This tool gives also lower values of the Sa roughness parameter 1.65 µm.

Opis:
The objective of this study was to determine changes in fuel delivery rate by common rail system injectors during their simulated operation on a test stand. Four Bosch injectors used, among others, in Fiat 1.3 Multijet engines were tested. The injectors were operated on a test rig at room temperature for 500 hours (more than 72 million work cycles). During the test, pressure and injection frequency were changed. Changes in the operating parameters were estimated based on obtained injection characteristics and effective flow area determined thereby. The observed changes in fuel delivery rate were compared with results of the surface analysis of control valves and nozzle needles. Despite the stated lack of wear, significant changes in the dynamics of injector operation were observed, particularly at short injection times. Small pilot injections cannot be corrected by the fuel injection control system because they do not affect the changes in torque; however, they do affect the combustion process. This creates conditions for increased emission of toxic exhaust components.

Opis:
This paper evaluates the wear characteristics of hardfacing coatings. Regenerative hardfacing coatings were applied with the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) method. The solid welding wires were used to obtain the coatings marked as: EL-500 HB, EL-650 HB, and EL-3348. The tribological analysis of samples was conducted at room temperature. The wear rate was evaluated with a THT 1000 Anton Parr ball-on-disc tribotester, in accordance with the ASTM G-133 standard. The counterbody (static partner) consisted of balls with the diameter of 6 mm made of Al2O3. The test was performed with the sliding speed of the friction pair 0.4 m/s, track radius 10 mm, normal load 20 N, acquisition rate 10 Hz and sliding distance 2000 m. During the test, the friction coefficient and wear rate were recorded. The multi-criteria assessment of the construction materials discussed, while taking into account five criteria, showed that EL-3348 HB is the best material. Computer applications were used for multi-criteria assessment and statistical processing of data.

Opis:
Numerous studies are conducted to improve the flow in the boundary layer to ensure laminar flow and in particular to increase flight safety. A new solution used to improve the laminar flow is the plasma actuator. The classic configuration of DBD plasma actuators is commonly used with the asymmetric electrode system. The manuscript describes the results of tests with a plasma actuator. Experimental tests were carried out on the built model of the wing with the SD 7003 profile, a plasma actuator was mounted on the upper surface. In contrast to the commonly used solution with solid tape copper electrodes, the novelty in the described research in the manuscript is the use of a large GND electrode (covering 70% of the upper surface of the wing) and a HV mesh electrode. The use of a plasma actuator on the upper surface of the wing affects the air flow in the boundary layer as a result of air ionization. The tests were carried out for a supply voltage from V = 7.0 kV to 12 kV and Reynolds number, Re = 87500 to 240000, flow velocity during the tests in the tunnel was in the range of U = 5-15 m/s and the angle of attack α = 5 -15 degrees. On the basis of the results experimental tests, the percentage change in the lift coefficient was calculated for the switched on and off DBD system. The obtained results indicate a maximum 17% increase in the lift coefficient for the plasma actuator activated for air flow U = 5 m/s and angle of attack α = 5 degrees. In the remaining configurations, changes in the lift coefficient amounted to 4%.

The subject of microbiological tests of coolants presented in the work is the cutting fluid (emulsifying oil) of Fuchs ECOCOOL 68 CF3. The liquid was taken from the tanks of three different numerically controlled machines (Lasertec 65, MillTap 700, CTX beta 1250 TC), used with different intensity. The five most characteristic and popular media were used in the study: nutrient agar - plain, TSA medium (tryptone-soy-agar), medium with dichloran, rose bengal and chloramphenicol, Sabouraud agar with Chloramphenicol, Czapka agar. The incubation time was dependent on the type of microorganisms. After the specified time, the plates inoculated on the medium were subjected to visual observations and under the Leica DM 500 microscope. As a result of the observation, the following types of microorganisms (fungi and bacteria) were detected: Aspergillus Niger Tiegh, Candida Albicans, Saphylococcus Aureus, Micrococcus Luteus and Escherchia Coli and Citrobacter Freundia. The assessments were made in fixed periods. The results are presented as a function of the intensity of the use of cutting fluids. Microbiological analysis of machining fluids will allow for optimizing the time periods of using coolants and will also contribute to the protection of the operator's health and indirectly "extending the life cycle" of the technological machine.

Opis:
The purpose of the undertaken research work is to analyze the torsional strength of standard samples with a circular cross-section, produced additively using the SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) technique – sintering PA2200 polyamide powders. The studies conducted so far have not included a static torsion test, the results of which are crucial for parts such as machine shafts, hubs, couplings, etc. Hence the idea of conducting the research in question. The samples were made in different settings relative to the machine's working platform and subjected to post-processing in two variants – by water-soaking and furnace-heating – in order to determine the influence of the orientation of the model in the manufacturing process and the type of post-processing on torsional strength. The produced samples were additionally subjected to a preliminary dimensional and shape verification due to the significant impact of the accuracy of the models in the SLS process on the operation of the above-mentioned machine parts. Based on the analysis of the test results, it was found that the highest torsional strength was determined for the furnace-heated samples. In addition, the highest mapping accuracy was found for models positioned vertically in relation to the machine's working platform.

The paper presents research results on the enhancement of diamond composites designed for tools application for mining industry, hard rocks cutting, able to withstand harsh conditions under heavy dynamical loads. In the present study, both CrB2 micropowder and VN nanopowder additives were used in proportions up to 5 wt.% and 6 wt.%, respectively, together with the basic matrix composition of 51 wt.% Fe, 32 wt.% Cu, 9 wt.% Ni, and 8 wt.% Sn. Addition of both components, CrB2 and VN, appeared to be ad-vantageous in proportion of 2 wt.% and 4 wt.%, respectively. This composition exhibited the highest relative density of 0.9968, better than that without additives. Similarly, the highest values of compressive strength Rcm and flexural strength Rbm were reached for the composite with the same percentage of CrB2 and VN. Compared to the composite with no addition of CrB2 and VN, Rcm improved by almost 70%, while Rbm by 81%. Additionally, the abovementioned additives enhanced the ability of the matrix to prevent the diamond reinforcement from being torn out of the composite, which is very important under harsh working conditions of the cutting tools. The presence of CrB2 micropowder and VN nanopowder promoted densification of the matrix and adhesion between the diamond grits and the Fe‒Cu–Ni–Sn matrix.

Additive processes allow for almost any manufacturing of screw-threaded joint elements. However, this requires knowledge of the geometrical relationships of a threaded itself and the strength of materials from which the screw-threaded joint is made. Thanks to the development of research models and conducting tests related to dimensional accuracy and surface roughness, it was possible to test the models made by MEX process of ABS-M30, PLA, ABS, PETG materials, and PolyJet process from RGD720 polymer material. In the case of measurements carried out on the MarSurf XC20 system, the internal and external thread profile was obtained.Measurements of the surface roughness of the printed models were made using the Taylor Hobson TalyScan 150 profilometer. Based on the obtained surface, following the ISO 25178-2 standard, selected parameters were determined.

Radiotherapy was used as a stand-alone therapeutic modality in 155 patients with endometrial cancer, treated at the Cracow Branch of the Center of Oncology since 1988 thru 1999. In these patients surgical excision was impossible due to far-advanced cancer (clinical stages III and IV) (n=50), severe comorbidity and poor performance status (n=105). In this patient population, 50 persons in clinical stage I received intracavitary brachytherapy, while the remaining 105 patients in clinical stages II, III and IVA received external beam irradiation followed by intracavitary brachytherapy. In the entire group (n=155), cumulative symptom-free 5 year survival rate was 51% (n=79). In relation to tumour grade, 5 year symptom- free survival rate was 70.3% in patients with well differentiated tumour, 43.5% in those with intermediate- grade tumour and only 20% in persons with poorly differentiated cancer. In patients with stage I endometrial cancer, symptom-free 5 year survival rate was 82% (n=41/50); in clinical stage II – 54.5% (30/55), in clinical stages III and IVA – 16% (8/50). Multivariate Cox analysis revealed that independent prognostic factors were clinical stage and tumour grade. Cure rates were 82%, 54.4% and 16% in clinical stages I, II and III/IVA, respectively. Symptom-free 5-year survival rates were 70.3%, 43.5% and 20% in well-differentiated, intermediate- and poorly-differentiated tumours, respectively. Severe late complications of radiotherapy (3rd and 4th degree) developed in 3.5% of patients.
W latach 1988-1999 w krakowskim Oddziale Centrum Onkologii (COOK) leczono pierwotnie napromienianiem 155 chorych na raka endometrium (RE), u których niemożliwe było wykonanie zabiegu operacyjnego z powodu zbyt dużego zaawansowania raka (stopnie III i IV) (50 chorych), ciężkich chorób towarzyszących i złego stanu sprawności (105 chorych). U 50 chorych na RE w I stopniu zaawansowania zastosowano wyłącznie brachyterapię dojamową, u pozostałych 105 (stopnie II, III i IVA) brachyterapię dojamową skojarzono z uprzednią teleradioterapią. Odległe, ciężkie powikłania (stopnie 3. i 4.) radioterapii wystąpiły jedynie u 3,5% chorych.
