Opis:
Cross-field transport of particles and energy is a major issue in magnetized fusion-relevant plasmas, due to its relevance for plasma confinement. In this paper Katsumata probe measurements performed in Pilot-PSI linear magnetized plasma device are presented. The plasma diffusion coefficient in perpendicular direction to the magnetic field was estimated from the measurements.

Opis:
Spindle-shape in form the Pereschiv catchment is located in the Tutova Rolling Hills, Southern Moldavian Plateau, and covers 23,267 ha. Based on both the aerial photos and field data a number of 847 gullies, stretching on 512 ha (2.20% of the total) have been identified. Of this gullied area, 34.5% (177 ha) is under 737 valley-side gullies, while 65.5% (335 ha) is under 110 valley-bottom gullies. As for 54 representative valley-bottom gullies by comparing their present state with the previous one, derived from topographical maps (based on successive aerial flights from 1960, 1962, 1974, 1977, 1981), it was possible to estimate gullying indicators, such as gully-head advance and areal gully growth. Finally, the gully erosion rate was estimated at 9.8 t ha-1 yr-1 that represents 56% of the total erosion within the study area.

Opis:
Soil erosion, gullying and landslides have been recognized as the major environmental threats in the Moldavian Plateau of Eastern Romania. Five stages of land degradation over the last two centuries can be depicted, namely:i) a preparing stage for future land degradation (1829–1999) when the most dynamic change of the native landscape was recorded; ii) a transitory stage (1900–1920) associated with the extension of the cultivated land up to 48% of the total area; iii) the climax stage (1921–1970) defined by both the traditional up and down hill farming and the peak rate of land degradation during 1960's; iv) a decreasing tendency of land degradation (1971-1990) as a result of the extension of conservation practices and the rainfall pattern; v) the present-day revival of land degradation associated to the Act no. 18/1991 when up and down hill farming under small plots is on the screen again. The main objective of this study was to define the process:based erosion and sedimentation by providing quantitative information from long-term field measurements in small catchments.

Opis:
For a 3-body Domen-type absorbed-dose graphite calorimeter a refined ordinary differential equation model is developed taking into account the heat loss through radiation from the surface of all three bodies. The new reduced heat transfer coefficients, $K_{i}$*, i = 1, 2, 3 were defined and the associated calculated heat loss correction factors $F_{C}$* and $F_{C+J}$* were determined. The total energy lost by radiation from the core surface was evaluated for both heating and post heating periods as being 31.35% from the total core heat loss (and up to 1.1% from the total energy delivered to the core during the heating time). A new correction factor for heat loss through radiation from the calorimeter bodies' surfaces was introduced and calculated as being $k_{SB}$ ≈ 0.9996.
