Opis:
Aim: This study has been conducted to detect chronic disease risk of nut-factory workers and to identify their tendency to practice preventive health behaviours. Materials and methods: Study universe is composed of 104 workers working at a hazelnut factory in Ordu, Turkey. Indicative characteristics survey form which is composed of 29 questions and prepared by the researcher, Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale B Form and Perception of Health Status Scale were used. In statistical evaluation fo data, percentage evaluation, arithmetic average, t-test, single factor analysis, ANOVA test were used. Results: According to data obtained from the study, it was found that most of the participants are overweight and obese, and are hypertension patients. Score average of workers was good according to perception of health scale status was better. It was found that there is a statistical relation between gender, educational status, chronic disease status, preventive health behaivors, cancer screening status, tension, fasting blood glucose and body mass index and Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale scores (p<0.01, p<0.05). It was determined that there is a statistical relation between gender, educational status, chronic disease status, preventive health disease and tension measurement values of laborers and their Perception of Health Status Scale scores [p<0.01] [p<0.05]. Conclusion: This study shows that workers have risk in the sense of chronic diseases. Results attained and training to be carried out have great importance for early diagnosis, information and application and development of preventive health behaviors of chronic diseases of workers by the workplace nurse

Opis:
Purpose: To examine problem solving behaviors and exposure to dating abuse of the students studying in the Nursing Department, in their romantic relationships. Materials and methods: This research was conducted as descriptive study between 30.12.2013 and 10.03.2014 in a Health School. The research did not perform sampling and included 373 students who could be reached, agreed to participate in the research and had no error in their data collection forms. Data was collected using a 21-question introductory questionnaire developed by the researcher and “the Problem Solving on Romantic Relationships Scale for Adolescents” consisting of 38 questions. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t test and correlation analysis. Results: 72.5% of the participating students were female and 27.5% were male. It was determined that 43.3% of all the students had a girlfriend /boyfriend, 51% had no romantic relationship before, and 59.5% experienced problems in their relationship. The students whose longest place of residence was in a village were found to be more exposed to emotional and physical abuse (t= 4.99, t=4.55, and p<0.05, respectively). The students who had problems in their romantic relationship were found to be more exposed to emotional abuse and to be more engaged in problem solving. The students who were exposed to abuse in their romantic relationship were more exposed to emotional and physical abuse and also more engaged in problem solving (p<0.05). Conclusions: Abuse is a concept which is still difficult to be expressed. It is important that individuals exposed to abuse are aware of and express this situation.

Purpose: To evaluate the marital relationships, the thoughts about femininity and sexual identity, and the self-evaluation and changes in the self-esteem of women having a hysterectomy operation, during the period of both before and after surgery. Material and methods: This study was designed according to the principles of the comparative descriptive research carried out between 15 January 2013 – 15 June 2014 at Ondokuz Mayis University, Faculty of Medicine Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The power sample size was determined to be 72. The research included 88 contactable women who were admitted to the clinic at the time of the research, who had agreed to participate in the study, and who lived in the province where the research was conducted (as the final tests were done via home visits). A questionnaire form, the Coopersmith Self Esteem Scale, and the Social Comparison Scale were used in the collection of the data. Descriptive statistics and x2 and Paired t tests were used in the data analysis. Results: Changes in the self-esteem of women having a hysterectomy were examined before surgery, one week after surgery, and three months after surgery; while there weren’t any changes in self-esteem one week after surgery, a significant decrease in the women’s self-esteem was discovered three months after surgery (p<0.01). Conclusion: It was discovered that a change in self-evaluation and self-esteem occurs after hysterectomy surgery in women.
