Opis:
This paper provides a description of the basic principles and procedures that can be found in strain measurements by means of an experimental method known as the digital image correlation (DIC) while using the correlation system Q-400 and the evaluation software Istra4D. The second part of the paper includes the application of DIC method in strain measurements on a sample made of a PS-1A photoelastic material while using the correlation system Q-400.

Opis:
Some of the frequent reasons of titanium implant failures in human body are incorrect biomechanical interactions within the tissue-implant interface and inflammatory processes arising around the implant's application area. For both processes, it is crucial to locate them and intervene in time. One of the monitoring possibilities of the mentioned processes is the application of amorphous glass-coated sensoric microwires (AGCSM). Magnetic characteristics of these microwires are influenced by both mechanical tension (magnetoelastic interaction of the magnetic moment with mechanical stress) and by temperature (different coefficient of thermal expansion of the metal core and glass coating). The key task, in order to change the magnetic characteristics of AGCSM from both clinical and scanning point of view, appears to be the fixation pattern of AGCSM in the implant's body. The presented study shows the impact of four types of AGCSM fixation patterns (at one ending, at both endings, in the middle and along the entire length) on the thermal response process tested in laboratory conditions. The obtained results will enable to establish the AGCSM fixation methodology in the implant's body in order to achieve optimal output temperature parameters form the implant and the tissue-implant interface by magnetic contactless measurements.

Opis:
The article deals with the method of the inherent noise estimation in each channel of a four channel relax-type magnetometer in general laboratory conditions. The day-long development of ambient magnetic field has been recorded and then the data were processed by correlation methods to separate inherent noises of the channels from ambient noise in the statistically best times. The method is applicable for noise estimation of any multi-channel sensoric system and also for the separation of deterministic and stochastic components of signals.

Opis:
Current trends in modernization and miniaturization of ferroprobe sensors lead to replacement of amorphous ribbon cores with magnetic microwires. The miniaturization often causes degradation in the parameters of sensors, so, considering measurement of weak magnetic fields, it is necessary to explore noise parameters, temperature drift and stability of the magnetometer output value. The article deals with analysis of microwire sensor noise characteristics based on the experimental data processing. Using one second periodograms, the linear spectral density was processed. Obtained data are compared with corresponding parameters of a relax-type ferroprobe magnetometer.

Opis:
The article points to the effects of the ambient noise and its possible influences on quantification of the inherent switching field noise of magnetic microwires. Based on the observed effects, an advanced methodology was developed to quantify the impact of the ambient noise. During measurements a multi-channel system with applied correlation methods was used. The proposed method determines the percentage contribution of the ambient noise deviation to the magnetic microwires switching field noise.

Opis:
Few examples of technical and biomedical applications of bistable magnetic microwires are shown. Particularly, application of microwires in civil engineering are shown for sensing the mechanical stress in concrete, steel structure or steel cable by simple gluing it on the surface of studied structure. On the other hand, biomedical applications for sensing the stress, temperature, and position inside the human or animal body are shown. Experiments with pig intestine cells points to the biocompatibility of glass coated microwires.
