As a solid waste, the associated disposal cost of fly ash is really high. Previous studies suggested that the utilization of fly ash to treat heavy metal-contaminated soils was a new cost-effective method of disposal of it. Therefore, the effectiveness of fly ash stabilized/solidified Zn-contaminated soils has been investigated by unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and toxicity characteristics leaching procedure (TCLP) tests. Quantitative analysis of the soil microstructure was conducted by processing the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. Mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) was carried out to illustrate the size and proportion of pore size for specimens under different ratios. The results of the tests showed an improvement in the UCS, which further increased as the content of binders was raised. Binder content would have little influence on the development of strength if the binder content exceeds a threshold value. The leached Zn2+ concentration of stabilized specimens was significantly decreased compared to that of untreated. Quantitative analysis confirmed that the addition of the binders resulted in the amount of hydration product, reduction of porosity, and a really random pores orientation, which was responsible for the improvement of the strength and leaching properties of the Zn2+ contaminated soils.

Opis:
A specified weight-cutting system for irregular solid materials such as rubber is important for industrial engineering. Currently, the workers’ experience is used, which has low accuracy and efficiency. A specified weight cutting system for irregular solid material based on 3D scanning is proposed in this paper, which aims to overcome the inaccuracy and inefficiency of the manual cutting process. Firstly, the surface of the irregular solid material is scanned by a tracking 3D laser scanner, and a triangular mesh file is generated. Secondly, the defects of the 3D model are repaired by reverse engineering, and then the 3D model file of the irregular objects is generated. Finally, the cutting position of the specified weight solid material is calculated by the calculation algorithm in UG software. In short, this research creates a new method for processing data collected by the 3D scanner, by working jointly with multiple devices and software, facilitating the cutting of irregular solid materials with specified weights. Additionally, the system has the advantage of accuracy and efficiency over the experience of workers.

Opis:
Application of new technology in modern systems not only substantially improves the performance, but also presents a severe challenge to fault location of these systems. This paper presents a new fault location strategy for maintenance personnel to recover them based on information fusion and improved CODAS algorithm. Firstly, a fault tree is adopted to develop the failure model of a complex system, and failure probability of components is determined by expert evaluations to handle the uncertainty problem. Moreover, a fault tree is converted into an evidence network to obtain importance degrees, which are used to construct a diagnostic decision table together with the risk priority number. Additionally, these results are updated to optimize the maintenance process using sensor information. A novel dynamic location strategy is designed based on interval CODAS algorithm and optimal fault location strategy can be obtained. Finally, a real system is analyzed to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed maintenance strategy.

The grinding process in the concentrator is a part of the largest energy consumption, but also the most likely to cause a waste of resources, so the optimization of the grinding process is a very important link.The traditional fuzzy controller relies solely on the expert knowledge summary to construct control rules, which can cause significant steady-state errors in the model. In order to solve the above problem, this paper proposes an elastic variable universe fuzzy control based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. The elastic universe fuzzy control model does not need precise fuzzy rules, but only needs to input the general trend of the rules, and the division of the universe is performed by the contraction-expansionfactor. The control performance is directly related to the contraction-expansionfactor, so this article also proposes using particle swarm optimization to optimize the scaling factor to achieve the optimal value. Finally, simulation models of traditional fuzzy control and elastic universe fuzzy control of feeding system of mill were built using Python to verify the control effect. Itssimulation results show that the time of the reaction of the fuzzy control system in the elastic variable theory universe based on particle swarm optimization was shorter by 34.48% comparing to the traditional one. Elastic variable universe fuzzy control based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) effectively improved the control accuracy of the mill feeding system and improved the response speed of the system to a certain extent.

Momentum wheels are the key components of the inertial actuators in the satellites, and the momentum wheel bearings are weak links of momentum wheels as they operate under harsh conditions. The reliability estimation for momentum wheel bearings are helpful to guarantee the mission successes for both momentum wheels and satellites. Hence, this paper put emphasis into reliability estimation of a momentum wheel bearing considering multiple coupling operating conditions and frictional heat by using the finite element analysis. The stress-strength interference model is employed to calculate the reliability of the momentum wheel bearing. A comparative analysis for reliability estimation with and without frictional heat of the momentum wheel bearing is conducted. The results show that the frictional heat cannot be ignored in the reliability analysis of momentum wheel bearings.
Koła zamachowe są kluczowymi elementami składowymi siłowników bezwładnościowych w satelitach. Ich łożyska stanowią słaby punkt podczas pracy w trudnych warunkach. Ocena niezawodności łożysk kół zamachowych pozwala zapewnić powodzenie misji zarówno w odniesieniu do samych kół zamachowych, jak i satelitów. Dlatego też niniejszy artykuł poświęcono zagadnieniu oceny niezawodności łożyska koła zamachowego z wykorzystaniem analizy metodą elementów skończonych przy uwzględnieniu wielu sprzężonych warunków pracy oraz ciepła tarcia. Do obliczenia niezawodności łożyska koła zamachowego zastosowano model obciążeniowo-wytrzymałościowy. Przeprowadzono także analizę porównawczą oceny niezawodności łożyska koła zamachowego z uwzględnieniem lub bez uwzględnienia ciepła tarcia. Wyniki pokazują, że w analizie niezawodności łożysk kół zamachowych nie można pominąć ciepła tarcia.

With the development of automation in ports, the video surveillance systems with automated human detection begun to be applied in open-air handling operation areas for safety and security. The accuracy of traditional human detection based on the video camera is not high enough to meet the requirements of operation surveillance. One of the key reasons is that Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) features of the human body will show great different between front & back standing (F&B) and side standing (Side) human body. Therefore, the final training for classifier will only gain a few useful specific features which have contribution to classification and are insufficient to support effective classification, while using the HOG features directly extracted by the samples from different human postures. This paper proposes a two-stage classification method to improve the accuracy of human detection. In the first stage, during preprocessing classification, images is mainly divided into possible F&B human body and not F&B human body, and then they were put into the second-stage classification among side human and non-human recognition. The experimental results in Tianjin port show that the two-stage classifier can improve the classification accuracy of human detection obviously.

The Helmholtz coil constant (ℎ) is a crucial standard in magnetic moment measurement devices for permanent magnet materials. To overcome the problem of low accuracy of the direct-current (DC) calibration method, this study used a constant sinusoidal current in the Helmholtz coil and measured the induced voltage of the detection coil with known coil turns and coil area. Subsequently, the ℎ was calculated. The noise signal deduction rate in the induction voltage of the detection coil was greater than 99%, its influence on the induction voltage is less than 0.005%, and the repeatability of the calibration results is 0.003% (1). The results reveal that the alternating current (AC) method and orthogonal calculation (OC) can accurately measure the valid values of the voltage signal under the influence of the spatial stray field during the calibration of ℎ.

Stress-strain mechanical properties of polystyrene foam plastic material were tested under different loading conditions. An empirical constitutive model for describing metal materials was proposed for the polystyrene plastic foam. The static and dynamic tests results show that the ductility and watertightness of the polystyrene plastic foam are significantly improved. At the same time, in order to check its seismic-isolation property, the high-performance foam concrete as filling materials of Galongla tunnel in Tibet was simulated by FEM. The simulated results show that the polystyrene plastic foam can remarkably decrease the stress and the plastic zone in final lining, so it can effectively reduce the seismic damage of the tunnel. Considering the seismic-isolation property and low price of polystyrene plastic foam, it is a good reference for the anti-seismic design of tunnels in high intensity zones.

It is rather difficult in identifying the fault location and performing risk assessment for complex electronic systems. In this paper a reliability assessment method based on the interval analytic hierarchy process (IAHP) and Bayesian network is proposed to facilitate reliability and risk assessment. After considering the major fault factors, the interval eigenvector method (IEM) is also presented to assess the reliability and comprehensive weights of subsystems. The conditional probability matrices for the factors of risk are defined using an inference rule. Then an updating model of information fusion in the context of Bayesian network is established to assess the risk of system. The proposed method is demonstrated through the risk assessment of an aircraft electric system. The result of the illustrative example shows that the proposed method can not only incorporate the evidence information, but also synthesize all the historical information. A further dynamic adjustment in the safety and risk priority of control measures is quite effective to improve the reliability while mitigating the risk of the electric system.
Lokalizacja uszkodzeń oraz ocena bezpieczeństwa i ryzyka w przypadku złożonych systemów elektronicznych jest zadaniem dość trudnym. W niniejszej pracy zaproponowano metodę prognozowania niezawodności opartą na procesie przedziałowej hierarchii analitycznej (IAHP), która ma na celu ułatwienie diagnozy uszkodzeń i kontroli ryzyka. Po rozważeniu głównych czynników wywołujących uszkodzenia, zaprezentowano metodę przedziałowych wektorów własnych oraz zdefiniowano, przy użyciu reguły wnioskowania, macierze prawdopodobieństwa dla czynników wpływających na bezpieczeństwo i ryzyko. Następnie, stworzono odnawialny model fuzji informacji w kontekście wnioskowania bayesowskiego służący do oceny stanu zagrożenia Udowodniono, iż włączenie wiedzy eksperckiej do dynamicznej symulacji ułatwia lokalizację uszkodzeń oraz pozwala uzyskać informacje dotyczące diagnozy uszkodzeń. Studium przypadku pokazuje, że dynamiczne dostosowanie priorytetowości związanej z bezpieczeństwem i ryzykiem stosowanych środków kontroli w sposób dość skuteczny zwiększa niezawodność przy jednoczesnym zminimalizowaniu ryzyka w złożonym systemie elektronicznym.

Classical probability theory has been widely used in reliability analysis; however, it is hard to handle when the system is lack of` adequate and sufficient data. Nowadays, alternative approaches such as possibility theory and fuzzy set theory have also been proposed to analyze vagueness and epistemic uncertainty regarding reliability aspects of complex and large systems. The model presented in this paper is based upon possibility theory and multistate assumption. Convex sublattice is addressed on congruence relation regarding the complete lattice of structure functions. The relations between the equivalence classes on the congruence relation and the set of all structure functions are established. Furthermore, important reliability bounds can be derived under the notion of convex sublattice. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the results.
Klasyczna teoria prawdopodobieństwa ma szerokie zastosowanie w analizie niezawodności, jednak trudno jest się nią posługiwać, kiedy brak jest wystarczających i odpowiednich danych na temat systemu. Obecnie, proponuje się alternatywne podejścia, takie jak teoria możliwości czy teoria zbiorów rozmytych, za pomocą których można analizować niepewność epistemiczną oraz nieostrość w odniesieniu do aspektów niezawodności złożonych i dużych systemów. Model przedstawiony w niniejszym artykule oparto na teorii możliwości oraz na założeniu wielostanowości. Podkratę wklęsłą opisano na relacji kongruencji, odnoszącej się do całej kraty funkcji struktury. Ustalono relacje pomiędzy klasami równoważności na relacji kongruencji a zbiorem wszystkich funkcji struktury. Ponadto posługując się pojęciem podkraty wypukłej można wyprowadzać istotne kresy niezawodności. Wyniki zilustrowano przykładem numerycznym.

The electronic structure of rhodochrosite containing impurity defects is studied by using the first principles density functional theory. The energy band structure, density of states and electronic distribution are calculated for rhodochrosite crystal models with various impurities (e.g., Cu, Ca, Mg, Zn, Fe). This paper discusses the effects of such defects on the electronic structure of rhodochrosite. The calculation results show that the impurity defects have a great impact on the surface electrical properties of rhodochrosite. For example, Ca and Mg impurities reduce the semiconductor width of rhodochrosite. Both Ca and Mg atoms in orbital bonding act as electron donors in which Ca3p and Mg2p orbits provide electrons while O2p orbits receive electrons. Moreover, the more number of valence electrons of Mn is the weaker covalent interaction between Mn and O atoms will be. Meanwhile, decrease of the total energy of rhodochrosite, makes the structure more stable. When Fe, Zn and Cu impurities are contained, the forbidden gap becomes narrower, which improves the conductivity of rhodochrosite. In addition, impurity bands will be formed in the 3d orbits of rhodochrosite as shown in its density of states, and the number of electrons in 3d orbits will increase. This weakens the covalence of O atoms, decreases the population values of O-Mn, increases the bond length, and enhances the ionicity of O-Mn bonds. The impurity of all defects considered in this study have shown an improved conductivity of rhodochrosite, and increased hole concentration of Mn atoms, which will be of great benefit to the adsorption of anionic collectors and enhance the electrochemical properties for rhodochrosite flotation process.

Owing to expensive cost and restricted structure, limited sensors are allowed to install in modern systems to monitor the working state, which can improve their availability. Therefore, an effective sensor placement method is presented based on a VIKOR algorithm considering common cause failure (CCF) under epistemic uncertainty in this paper. Specifically, a dynamic fault tree (DFT) is developed to build a fault model to simulate dynamic fault behaviors and some reliability indices are calculated using a dynamic evidence network (DEN). Furthermore, a VIKOR method is proposed to choose the possible sensor locations based on these indices. Besides, a sensor model is introduced by using a priority AND gate (PAND) to describe the failure sequence between a sensor and a component. All placement schemes can be enumerated when the number of sensors is given, and the largest system reliability is the best alternative among the placement schemes. Finally, a case study shows that CCF has some influence on sensor placement and cannot be neglected in the reliabilitybased sensor placement.

The photo-degradation progress of epoxy coating and the effect of ultraviolet absorber under UV-B irradiation have been investigated in slow positron beam and by the Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. After 120 h of irradiation, the value of S parameter in sample bulk is reduced while compared with the virgin sample. The result is mostly due to post-cure process happening in this initial irradiation stage. As the irradiation time increases to 360 h, the S parameter decreases sharply. This is due to the growth of carbonyl group and the generation of free radical. After 528 h or longer time of irradiation, a very low S value was obtained near sample surface, indicating the formation of a dead surface layer. Positron results also reveal that the addition of ultraviolet absorber suppresses the development of the dead layer after long-term UV-B irradiation. Ultraviolet absorber has a suppressing effect on generation of polar groups towards sample bulk. The addition of ultraviolet absorber is a key factor that affects the photo-degradation of epoxy coating.

We investigated observer metamerism under a variety of viewing conditions, in a set of color-matching experiments using displays and printed color samples under specific light sources. A selection was made of light sources with different illuminances, spectral power distributions, and correlated color temperatures, as well as displays with different sets of primaries. A panel of 157 observers with normal color vision and ages between 20 and 59 years old performed 5465 visual color matches around 9 different color centers. The results from the simulated and real experiments were quite different. Specifically, the mean color difference from the mean changed with experimental viewing conditions, ranging from 0.73 to 1.64 CIELAB units (average 0.99 CIELAB units) in simulated experiments, and from 3.12 to 4.03 CIELAB units (average 3.55 CIELAB units) in real experiments. In real experiments, observers’ variability reduced for light sources with high illuminance and high correlated color temperature. Spectral power distributions affected observer metamerism, but the role played by the primaries of the two displays employed was unclear.

Opis:
The optical trapping forces of tightly-focused radially polarized circular partially coherent beams on Rayleigh particles are theoretically investigated. Numerical calculations are performed to study the optical trapping forces on Rayleigh particles for different initial coherent length of the incident circular partially coherent beams. The results show that the magnitude of the gradient force decreases with the reduction of the initial coherent length of the focused radially polarized circular partially coherent beams, while the balanced position (i.e., the position where the optical trapping forces becomes zero) stays constant. Moreover, the focused spot gradually elongates along the optical axis with the reduction of the initial coherent length, and the axial gradient force on Rayleigh particles also decreases gradually with the reduction of the intensity gradient in axial direction. As there exists an spherical aberrant in the focusing optical system, the focal spot in the direction of the optical axis becomes trumpet-shaped, and the optical trapping forces on Rayleigh particles change as well.
