Opis:
Rodzaj spożywanej żywności oraz sposób odżywiania mają istotny wpływ na rozwój psychofizyczny oraz funkcjonowanie organizmu człowieka. Rezultaty prowadzonych na świecie badań naukowych wskazują, że wiele nieodżywczych składników występujących w surowcach roślinnych i zwierzęcych ma istotny wpływ na szereg procesów zachodzących w organizmie człowieka, których prawidłowy przebieg jest niezbędnym warunkiem zachowania optymalnego stanu zdrowia. Wyniki obserwacji klinicznych potwierdzają wyraźny związek między spożywaniem określonego rodzaju pokarmów a ryzykiem występowania schorzeń cywilizacyjnych. Jak pokazują wyniki badań, odpowiednio dobrane do standardowo stosowanej diety żywnościowe produkty funkcjonalne mogą odgrywać istotną rolę w zakresie prawidłowego funkcjonowania organizmu. Celem niniejszej pracy jest przybliżenie informacji na temat właściwości i potencjalnych zastosowań składników bioaktywnych w produkcji funkcjonalnych produktów żywnościowych oraz ich roli w żywieniu człowieka.
The type of consumed food and the way of feeding have a significant impact on the psychophysical development and the functioning of human body. The results of scientific research indicate that many non-nutrient components found in natural plant and animal raw materials have a significant impact on many processes occurring in the human body. Proper course of these processes is a necessary condition of optimal physical and mental health. The results of clinical observations confirm that there is a clear relationship between the type of consumed food and the risk of the development of civilization diseases. The results of scientific research show that properly selected functional food products can play an important role in the proper functioning of the body and prevention of the diet-related diseases. The aim of the article is to present the information on properties and potential applications of bioactive components in the functional foods production. This article also presents the role of functional food in human nutrition.

The authors studied immunological changes in 44 women with chronic trichomonadal colpitis and in 36 men with symptomless infection of urethra (age 19-50 years). In all the patients all other diseases were excluded. The presence of T. vaginalis in the vagina content and the secretion of the urethra was detected by means of microscope examination of fresh slides and of culture on Trimed medium. Besides, in all the patients complete morphological picture of blood as well as erythrocyte sedimentation rate (Biernacki reaction) were examined in order to find a relationship between these parameters. In the studies on the cellular immunological response the following tests were made: a) estimate of the number of early and late erythrocyte rosettes, and the absolute number of T lymphocytes in peripheral blood, by means of the test of rosette formation (it was assumed, after Bach, that a lymphocyte with five or more erythrocytes (of sheep) around it is a rosette), b) estimate of the absolute number of erythrocyte and B lymphocyte rosettes in peripheral blood, by means of the zymosan test of rosette formation; c) skin test of the delayed type with diluted tuberculine (1 : 5000), read after 24 hrs basing on the occurrence of erythema and induration. The results were statistically analysed using methods of comparative analysis. They were compared with the results of the tests on a control group comprising 40 healthy persons (20 men and 20 women) at age of 27-58 years. The results are presented in the table. The results of the test of erythrocyte sedimentation rate, not included in the table, were within the normal range in all the examined patients. Basing on the presented results the authors are of opinion that in the trichomoniasts immunological reactions of humoral and cellular type occur, both types being detectable almost to the same extent.

Opis:
In the present paper we focus on online monitoring system for predictive maintenance based on sensor automated inputs. Our subject was a device from Maritsa East 2 power plant - a mill fan. The main sensor information we have access to is based on the vibration of the nearest to the mill rotor bearing block. Our aim was to create a (nonlinear) model able to predict on time possible changes in vibrations tendencies that can be early signal for system work deterioration. For that purpose, we compared two types of recurrent neural networks: historical Elman architecture and a recently developed kind of RNN named Echo stet networks (ESN). The preliminary investigations showed better approximation and faster training abilities of ESN in comparison to the Elman network. Direction of future work will be increasing of predications time horizon and inclusion of our predictor at lower level of a complex predictive maintenance system.

Opis:
This work analyses the basic problems of the fine particles flotation and suggests new ways to overcome them. It is well accepted that the poor recovery of fine particles is due to the small collision rate between them and the bubbles due to the significant difference between their sizes. This common opinion is based on a theory, assuming in its first version a laminar regime, but later has been advanced to intermediate turbulence. It accepts that the particles are driven by the streamlines near the bubbles. In reality, the high turbulence in the flotation cells causes myriads of eddies with different sizes and speeds of the rotation driving both bubbles and particles. Yet, a theory accounting for high turbulence exists and states that the collision rate could be much higher. Therefore, we assumed that the problem consists of the low attachment efficiency of the fine particles. Basically, two problems could exist (i) to form a three-phase contact line (TPCL) the fine particle should achieve a certain minimal penetration into the bubble, requiring sufficient push force; (ii) a thin wetting film between the bubble and the particle forms, thus increasing the hydrodynamic resistance between them and making the induction time larger than the collision time. We assumed particles with contact angle θ = 80°, and established a lower size flotation limit of the particles depending mostly on the size of the bubbles, with which they collide. It spans in the range of Rp = 0.16 um to Rp = 0.40 um corresponding to bubbles size range of Rb = 50 um to Rb = 1000 um. Hence, thermodynamically the particle size fraction in the range of Rp = 0.2 um to Rp = 2 um are permitted to float but with small flotation rate due to the small difference between the total push force and maximal resistance force for formation of TPCL. The larger particles approach slowly the bubbles, thus exceeding the collision time. Therefore, most possibly the cavitation of the dissolved gas is the reason for their attachment to the bubbles. To help fine particles float better, the electrostatic attraction between bubbles and particles occurred and achieved about 92% recovery of fine silica particles for about 100 sec. The procedure increased moderately their hydrophobicity from θ ≈ 27.4° to θ ≈ 54.5°. Electrostatic attraction between bubbles and particles with practically no increase of the hydrophobicity of the silica particles ended in 47% recovery. All this is an indication of the high collision rate of the fine particles with the bubbles. Consequently, both, an increase in the hydrophobicity and the electrostatic attraction between particles and bubbles are key for good fine particle flotation. In addition, it was shown experimentally that the capillary pressure during collision affected significantly the attachment efficiency of the particles to the bubbles.
