Opis:
IP networks are indispensable nowadays and they are some of the most efficient platforms. The constantly growing number of users and new services in these networks – the largest being the Internet – require a satisfactory quality of service from any application they use. So, determining the QoS in real-time services is particularly important. This work shows how to quantify the suitability of reference signals for analyzing the quality of video streaming in IPTV. The assessment relies on two different algorithms: PEVQ and VQuad-HD. Three different reference signals – two real ones and an artificial one – are used in this study, and a numerical measurement system is used, which simulates mean network impairments. These measurements provide valuable information for determining the QoS of actual IPTV services in practice.

Opis:
Wires used for orthodontic arches play a very important role in the process of orthodontic treatment. In combination with the lock attached to the tooth, they move and align the teeth along the set trajectories. Wires of stainless steel are commonly used in orthodontics for several reasons: they are characterised by high resistance to corrosion, high strength and elasticity, formability and a possibility of obtaining defined properties through cold working and annealing during production process. The purpose of the research presented in the work is the analysis of differences of the selected structural properties in the context of corrosion resistance of the orthodontic wire material. The object of the research was edge arches of the 0.016”x0.022” size made of the stainless steel type AISI 304, provided by two different producers: G&H Orthodontics and Adenta. The research methodology involved analysis of chemical and phase composition of the tested alloy, microscopic tests with application of the light and electron microscopy methods, as well as electrochemical direct current measurements. The research presented in the work has shown significant differences in structural and physical-chemical properties of the orthodontic wires made of AISI 304 type stainless steel. Despite the fact, that the tested arches were manufactured of the theoretically the same materials, but by different producers, they significantly differ in chemical composition, metallurgical purity, phase composition and corrosion resistance. In addition, it is worth noticing that the tested materials, in terms of structure, do not meet the normative requirements obligatory for biomaterials.

Opis:
Reliable knowledge of a ship’s position and movement in relation to other traffic participants and obstacles is a fundamental requirement for navigation and avoiding collisions and groundings. Consequently, the onboard provision of resilient position, navigation and time data (PNT) is emphasized by the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) e-navigation strategy, solution S3 “Improved reliability, resilience and integrity of bridge equipment and navigation information” and by the assigned risk control option RCO5 “Improved reliability and resilience of onboard PNT systems”. An initial step towards resilient PNT has been realized by the maritime community with the development of the performance standards for shipborne multi-system radionavigation receiver equipment (MRR). This MRR performance standard (PS) supports the full use of data coming from current and future radionavigation systems and services. Consequently, the combined use of several global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) and the additional use of space based augmentation systems (SBAS) as well as optional terrestrial radionavigation systems (e.g. eLoran or R-Mode) will be supported to increase the performance of positioning and timing. As a second step, the development of guidelines for an onboard PNT (data processing) unit has been identified as supplementary and necessary. The starting point is the onboard use of a combination of GNSS receivers and autarkic systems (e.g. radar, gyro, echosounders with bathymetric data) for a comprehensive provision of required PNT data. Redundancy in the available data enables the application of integrity monitoring functions to evaluate the current usability of safety-critical data and components. The aim of the guidelines is the specification of data processing rules towards the resilient provision of standardized PNT data and integrity information. For this purpose, a modular architecture for an onboard PNT system is introduced and scaled to the need for data input as well as the performance of data output.

Opis:
Gravure printing is used for high-volume production of high quality magazines and packagings. The method of printing form preparation, while satisfying the requirement for uniform and ink transfer and low image granularity, restricts the precision of linework elements, especially those used in securities and special printing. To overcome this problem, novel engraving methods have been developed. The Paper presented deals with the quality of linework reproduction using different combination of engraving parametres. The quality was assessed by printing a prepared test image containing commonly used linework elements, while using forms engraved with different parametres combinations. A printout with standard engraving parameter set was used as a reference point. Line separation, details reproduction, image resolution and ink optical density were measured to quantify the results. Printing parameters were identical for all samples. It was found that engraving parametres have negligible influence on text readability, but other linework elements, e.g. microlines, Landolt rings and concentric circles, may differ significantly if printed from a form engraved with different parameters. Moreover, the linework element reproduction depends on relation of element direction and engraving direction, as well as the convergence of engraving screen and linework elements’ distance. The minimum linework thickness required for stable reproduction for all electromechanical engraving methods and parametres was found to be between 100 and 150 microns.
