The Bali Strait has very high pelagic fish resources, ranging from small pelagic fish to large pelagics, one of which is a type of tuna. Skipjack tuna (Euthynnus sp.) is one of the dominant and high economic value fish resources. The composition of fish catch landed in National Fisheries Port (PPN) Pengambengan in 2014 is dominated by small pelagic fish. The composition of the largest fish catches consists of lemuru, skipjack, mackerel and scad. This study aims to look at the production of skipjack tuna and season distribution for 5 years. This information can be used as an effort to manage fisheries in PPN Pengambengan continuously. This research was carried out in the waters of the Bali Strait with fishing base PPN Pengambengan. The catch of skipjack tuna in Bali is fluctuated every month during 2013 until 2017. The average catch is high in 2014, and the lowest catch was in 2016. This was allegedly due to the catches of previous years namely in 2014 – 2015 skipjack tuna fish resources were overexploited. The catch of skipjack tuna based on the season has the highest value in September - November (transition II (intern-monsoon)) and the lowest is in December-February (northwest season).

The purpose of the study was to determine the sustainability status of Stingray capture to determine the feasibility of catching Stingray in the waters of West Manggarai Regency. The research method used is the survey method, and this was conducted in July 2018 until mid-September 2018. The parameters studied included the type of Stingray, size and sex ratio. The results showed that the Stingray species found were A. narinari, D. kuhlii, H. granulata, H. uarnak, P. sephen, and T. lymma, with species diversity still stable (H' = 1,4). The average size of Stingray species caught makes it, however, not worth catching. Comparison of the Stingray sex ratio shows that T. lymma and H. granulata species were unbalanced, thus they should not be caught. D. kuhli and H. uarnak are still in balance so they can still be harvested. Based on conservation status in IUCN, the stingray that had the most severe threat status was H. granulata and H. uarnak, thus, these should not be harvested at all.

Excessive exploitation of fish resources with the use of fishing gear that is not selective and not eco-friendly will have an impact on the sustainability of capture fisheries, and cause damage to fish resources and marine ecosystems. The mini purse seine is a fishing gear that is most widely used by fishermen in the sea of the north coast of Java. Research was undertaken the Nusantara Fisheries Port (PPN), Pekalongan. The purpose of this research is to analyze the level of eco friendliness of mini purse seine fishing based on the main catch, which is (Decapterus spp.). The research method used a survey method at PPN Pekalongan and follows the operation of 3 units of mini purse seine working the fishing ground on the North Coast of Central Java, in January-February 2018. Data taken included total catches, catch composition, diversity index and the size of the fork length. Data analysis used the proportion of the main catch and by-catch, as well as the proportion of fish worth catching and not catching. The results showed that the mini purse seine fishing gear caught 6 species with a total catch of 35,633 with a weight of 4,600 kg. The main catch is 51%, compared to 49% by-catch. The length of the main catch fish worth catching is 46% of all fish measured. Diversity index value is 1.42 (high diversity), based on a research mini purse seine operated in the the Java Sea. The results of our work indicate that mini purse seine fishing is not eco friendly - as seen from the criteria of catch composition.
