Opis:
In this study, the partial slip contact problem for a monoclinic coated half plane indented by a rigid cylindrical punch is considered. The main objective of current study is to illustrate the effects of material anisotropy on the surface stresses, the contact width and the stick/slip region of the partial slip contact. Using the Fourier integral transform and boundary conditions of the problem, the singular integral equation of the system is obtained. Numerical results of the problem are provided for typical fibrous composites applying the Gauss-Chebyshev discretization method. Sensitivity analysis of the surface stresses is performed for both the material and geometric parameters. The results indicate that the coating fiber angle can significantly alter the distribution of contact tractions. As the fiber angle ranges from θ = 0° to θ = 90°, the contact half-length increases up to 20% whereas the stick zone half-length varies significantly.

Opis:
The effects of combined aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) treatments on quality attributes of ‘0900 Ziraat’ sweet cherry fruit during the cold storage and shelf life were investigated in this study. Significantly lower weight loss and decay ratios were observed in all treatments throughout the cold storage period as compared to the control. A similar case was also observed referring to the shelf life. MAP treatments were found to be more effective in retarding the weight loss and decay ratio. Higher hue angle values were measured from AVG-treated fruit at harvest. Similarly, hue angle of AVG and MAP-treated fruit were also higher than for the control in all periods of cold storage and on the 7th and 21st day of shelf life. AVG-treated fruit had higher firmness values than the control at harvest. However, higher firmness values were measured from MAP-treated fruit during the cold storage and shelf life. At the end of cold storage, lower SSC and higher titratable acidity values were observed in AVG and MAP-treated fruit than in the control. AVG + MAP treatments yielded significantly higher vitamin C, total phenolics and antioxidant activity values than the control. Contrarily, the control fruit had significantly higher total monomeric anthocyanin than the other treatments. Based on current findings, it was concluded that combined AVG + MAP treatments could be used as a beneficial tool to maintain the quality of sweet cherry fruit throughout the cold storage and shelf life.

The steady-state magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) flow of a third-grade fluid with a variable viscosity parameter between concentric cylinders (annular pipe) with heat transfer is examined. The temperature of annular pipes is assumed to be higher than the temperature of the fluid. Three types of viscosity models were used, i.e., the constant viscosity model, space dependent viscosity model and the Reynolds viscosity model which is dependent on temperature in an exponential manner. Approximate analytical solutions are presented by using the perturbation technique. The variation of velocity and temperature profile in the fluid is analytically calculated. In addition, equations of motion are solved numerically. The numerical solutions obtained are compared with analytical solutions. Thus, the validity intervals of the analytical solutions are determined.

Iron-modified pumice (Fe-P) was prepared by the ion-exchange method using natural pumice from Kayseri, Turkey at room temperature without calcination. SEM, FTIR, XRD, and S-BET measurement were used to investigate the copper removal mechanism. The results show that the SBET of the pumice increased from 11.88 m2/g to 21.01 m2/g after iron modification. The effects of pH, contact time, initial copper concentration, temperature, and various cations (Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+ and Al3+) at various pH were investigated in batch experiments. More than 92% of Cu(II) was removed after 180 min. Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich and Temkin isotherm models were applied to the equilibrium data at 298, 308 and 318 K. The maximum adsorption capacity at 298, 308 and 318 K was found to be 21.52, 19.48, and 19.67 mg/g, respectively. The kinetics of copper on Fe-P was best described by the pseudo-second order kinetic model. The negative values of free energy change and enthalpy change indicated that the adsorption process was feasible, spontaneous and exothermic.

Albite (NaAlSi3O8) is an important industrial mineral especially for ceramic and glass production. Major Fe-containing impurity of albite ore is flaky mica minerals. This study was conducted to determine the applicability of pinched sluicing for pre-concentration of albite ore by exploiting shape effect. Effects of feed solid rate, tilting angle of pinched sluice, and splitter position on the rejection of Fe-containing flaky mica were tested. Pulp solid rate was determined to be the most important variable on the rate of mica rejection. Increasing the tilting angle adversely affected the separation efficiency especially above 17°. Distribution of gangue mica in the vertical cross-section of flowing film was tested manipulating the splitter height. Mica particles were observed to be crowded in upper layers of film thickness. So, flaky mica impurity was thought to be separated from feldspar ore, and a pre-concentrate was obtained. All Fe-containing coloring impurities could not be removed due to different mineralogical origins of them in the ore. Optimum operating variables were determined as follows: 56% feed solid rate, 17° tilting angle of pinched sluice, and splitter height lower or closer to 2/3 of the total pulp film thickness. Pulp solid rate of underflow stream almost linearly changed with respect to splitter height.
Albit (NaAlSi3O8) jest ważnym surowcem przemysłowym, szczególnie w ceramice i produkcji szkła. Najważniejszymi zanieczyszczeniami żelazowymi występującymi w albicie jest łuskowata mika. Celem badan było określenie możliwości wykorzystania wzbogacalnika poziomo-prądowego do wstępnego wzbogacania albitu z wykorzystaniem analizy kształtu. Badano wpływ natężenia przepływu nadawy, zawartości fazy stałej, geometrii strugi nadawy na efekt wydzielenia miki zawierającej zanieczyszczenia minerałami żelaza. Zawartość fazy stałej w nadawie została określona jako najważniejszy czynnik wpływający na efektywność procesu. Zwiększenie kąta nachylenia komory roboczej niekorzystnie wpływało na separację, szczególnie powyżej 17°. Badano wpływ rozdział miki w przekroju poprzecznym strumienia nadawy. Ziarna miki koncentrowały się w górnych warstwach strumienia. Stwierdzono, że drobne ziarna miki oddzielają się od rudy skaleniowej i można otrzymać prekoncentrat. Z uwagi na sposób występowania zanieczyszczeń nie można wydzielić wszystkich zanieczyszczeń barwiących. Określono optymalne parametry procesu: zawartość fazy stałej w nadawie 56%, kąt nachylenia rynny podawczej 17°, a wysokość rozdzielacza strugi niższa od 2/3 całkowitej grubości warstwy materiału.

Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.) is an aromatic and medicinal perennial herb native to Southern Europe and temperate regions of Asia. The study aimed to determine the effect of different plant parts harvested at different flowering stages: pre-flowering, full-flowering and post-flowering, in some agronomical characteristics, essential oil yield and components of hyssop plant in semi-arid climatic conditions of South Eastern Anatolia, Diyarbakir, Turkey. The results showed that both flowering stages and plant parts had important effects on fresh, dry herbage, dry leaf yield of hyssop, as well as essential oil content. It was concluded that under semi-arid climatic conditions, hyssop plant could be grown successfully in conformity to the limits of ISO standards and harvest from top parts of the plants at full flowering stage could be preferred for maximum dry leaf yield and essential oil contents.
Hyzop (Hyssopus officinalis L.) jest aromatyczną i leczniczą wieloletnia rośliną zielną rodzimą dla Europy Południowej i umiarkowanych regionów Azji. Celem badania było określenie wpływu różnych części roślin zbieranych w różnych fazach kwitnienia (przed kwitnieniem, w pełni kwitnienia oraz po kwitnieniu) na pewne cechy agronomiczne, plon olejku eterycznego i składniki hyzopu w półpustynnych warunkach klimatycznych południowo-wschodniej Anatolii w Diyarbakir w Turcji. Wykazano, że zarówno fazy kwitnienia jak i części roślin mają istotny wpływ na świeżą i suchą masę ziela, plon suchych liści oraz zawartość olejku eterycznego. Stwierdzono, że w półpustynnych warunkach klimatycznych hyzop można uprawiać w zgodzie ze standardami ISO, a plon części szczytowych na etapie pełnego kwitnienia jest najlepszy ze względu na maksymalny plon suchych liści oraz zawartość olejku eterycznego.

In this study, antioxidant activity (AA), total phenolics (TP), total flavonoids (TF), individual phenolic compounds (IPCs), vitamin C and six other fruit characteristics including weight loss, flesh firmness, color, soluble solids content (SSC), dry matter and titratable acidity (TA) of Caucasian whortleberry fruits (Vaccinium arctostaphylos L.) were determined at harvest and at a week postharvest intervals throughout the cold storage at 0°C for 4 weeks. Significant decreases were observed in fruit weight and flesh firmness during the cold storage period. While L* and chroma values decreased significantly, an increase was observed in hue angle values. Significant increases were observed in dry matter, but decreases were observed in SSC, TA and vitamin C contents. Caucasian whortleberry fruits had quite high polyphenol contents. Total phenolics (TP), total flavonoids (TF), antioxidant activity (AA) (according to ABTS+, DPPH· and FRAP antioxidant tests) and individual phenolic compounds (IPCs) significantly decreased throughout the cold storage. Chlorogenic acid was the major phenolic in Caucasian whortleberry fruits. It was concluded that Caucasian whortleberry fruits with high phenolic compound and flavonoid levels might serve a potential antioxidant source.
Zbadano aktywność antyoksydacyjną (AA), całkowitą zawartość fenoli (TP), flawonoidów (TF), indywidualnych związków fenolowych (IPC), witaminy C oraz sześć innych cech, takich jak utrata wagi, zwartość miąższu, barwa, zawartość rozpuszczalnych substancji stałych (SSC), sucha masa oraz kwasowość (TA) owoców borówki kaukaskiej (Vaccinium arctostaphylos L.) podczas zbioru oraz z tygodniowymi przerwami po zbiorach w czasie całego okresu przechowywania w chłodni w temperaturze 0°C przez 4 tygodnie. Zaobserwowano istotny spadek masy owoców i zwartości miąższu podczas okresu przechowywania w chłodni. Wartości barwy zmniejszyły się istotnie, natomiast zaobserwowano wzrost wartości kąta odcienia. Zaobserwowano istotny wzrost suchej masy, ale spadek został zanotowany w zawartości SSC, TA oraz witaminy C. Owoce borówki kaukaskiej miały dość wysoką zawartość polifenoli. Całkowita zawartość fenoli (TP), flawonoidów (TF), aktywność antyoksydacyjna (AA) (według testów antyoksydacyjnych ABTS+, DPPH· i FRAP) oraz indywidualne związki fenolowe (IPC) istotnie zmniejszyły się w okresie przechowywania w chłodni. Kwas chlorogenowy był głównym fenolem w owocach borówki kaukaskiej. Wyciągnięto wniosek, że owoce borówki kaukaskiej o wysokim poziomie związków fenolowych i flawonoidów mogą służyć za potencjalne źródło antyoksydantów.

In this study, $LiCr_{0.2}V_{0.4}Mn_{1.4}O_4$ cathode active electrode materials were produced via a facile sol-gel method at 800°C. The surfaces of the $LiCr_{0.2}V_{0.4}Mn_{1.4}O_4$ cathode active electrode materials were then coated with Cu in order to increase the conductivity and suppress the manganese ion dissolution into the electrolyte. The structure and electrochemical properties of the obtained Cr and V substituted LiMn₂O₄ powders were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), galvanostatic charge- discharge test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The improvement in the cycling performances attributed to stabilization of spinel structure by bication ion substation and Cu coating on the spinel particles. EIS analysis confirmed that bication doping and conductive Cu coating contributed stability of the spinel electrodes and provided stable electrolyte/electrode interface due to the suppression of electrolyte decomposition

Electrolytes based on organic carbonate solvents of ethylene carbonate (EC) and diethyl carbonate (DEC) were prepared by using LiPF₆ as the Li-source. Nano sized Al₂O₃ (50 nm) was used as a reinforcing component in order to control corrosion and Li₂CO₃ formation. Corrosion of the Li foil anode and electrochemical tests were performed by using EC/DEC/LiPF₆ and nanocomposite EC/DEC/LiPF₆/5wt.% Al₂O₃ electrolytes. Electrochemical tests were performed in the swagelok cells by using Li foil anode and carbon air cathode electrodes. Structural tests were carried out by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. Results revealed that incorporation of nano Al₂O₃ leads to a decrease of corrosion rate of Li anode and a small decrease in the capacity of the air cells.

In this study, spinel $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ materials were successfully synthesized by a simple and facile sol-gel process and electroless copper deposition techniques. The characteristics of the as-prepared $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ and $Cu-Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ were examined by X-ray diffraction and scanning electronic microscopy, while the electrochemical performances including charge/discharge and rate performance tests were also investigated. $Cu-Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ electrode demonstrated the superior initial discharge capacity and rate capability to $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ electrode, cycled between 1.0 and 2.5 V. The enhanced rate capability can be attributed to the higher $Li^{+}$ diffusivity and lower charge-transfer resistance due to the electroless deposition of copper. Moreover, when both electrodes discharged with 80 C state of discharge conditions, the reversible capacities were further increased ım70 mAh $g^{-1}$ with excellent cycling stability and almost no irreversible capability was observed during cycling.

Several reported problems of commercial LiCoO₂ electrode materials such as high cost, toxicity, limited rate capability and safety concerns are still remain to be problematic to develop the lithium ion consumer electronics such as mobile phones, tablets and notebook computers. In this study, an alternative nanocomposite electrode material based on $LiCr_{0.2}V_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}O_2$ and copper coated one were produced via a facile sol-gel method and electroless Cu deposition techniques. The resulting samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (Rigaku DMax 2200 diffractometer) using a monochromatized Cu-Kα source (λ=1.5406 Å) and 2θ scan range from 10° to 80° with a speed of 1° $\text{min}^{-1}$. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used in order to characterize the morphology of the active materials. The as-synthesized $Cu//LiCr_{0.2}V_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}O_2$ composite cathode exhibits a stable capacity on cycling and good rate capability after 50 cycles and total capacity retention of 93% is obtained. The unique 2D structure of the composite cathode material, its good electrochemical performances and its relatively low cost comparing to LiCoO₂, make this material very promising for applications.

Opis:
Silicon based carbon nanotube composites were produced and their galvanostatic cycling properties analyzed depended on the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Composite anodes were produced via vacuum filtration and DC magnetron sputtering technique. Carbon nanotube papers were produced with vacuum filtration as substrate for silicon deposition and silicon was sputtered onto carbon nanotube papers via DC magnetron sputtering. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis were conducted for structural analysis of anodes. CR2016 coin cells were assembled for electrochemical tests. Electrochemical performance of anodes was tested via galvanostatic charge/discharge (100 cycles) analysis. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was carried out at every 25 charge/discharge cycle to determine relation between cyclic performance and electrochemical impedance of cells.

In this work, antimony doped tin oxide ($SnO_2$:Sb) thin films were fabricated using a radio frequency magnetron sputtering system on Si wafer and glass substrates. The base pressure in the sputtering chamber was 1.0 Pa. The $SnO_2$:Sb thin films were deposited for 1.0 h in a mixture of Ar and $O_2$ environment with $O_2$/Ar ratio of 10/90 at 75, 100, and 125 W RF sputtering powers. The microstructure of $SnO_2$:Sb thin films was assessed using a field emission scanning electron microscopy. The crystallographic structure of the sample was determined by X-ray diffraction. The average surface roughness $(R_{a})$ was measured with atomic force microscopy. The electrical resistivity of the deposited films was measured by the four-point-probe method. The thicknesses of the films were measured by surface profiler.

Opis:
Silicon/MWCNT composite electrodes were produced using high-speed planetary ball milling. Content of MWCNT were altered in silicon/MWCNT composite electrodes and effect of MWCNT content on the electrochemical performance of silicon electrodes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction techniques. Coin type CR2016 test cells were assembled by using produced nanocomposite electrodes. Prepared test cells were electrochemically cycled at a current density of 200 mA/g. Furthermore, cyclic voltammetry curve of composite electrodes were performed to investigate electrochemical reactions between electrode and electrolyte.
