    Letters of Emperor Frederick III Habsburg in the State Archive in Gdańsk(on the Margin of Work on Regesta Imperii from Prussian and Livonian Archives)The article analyses the use of the resources of the State Archive in Gdańsk: in volume 24 of Regesta Imperii Elfie–Marita Eibl presented documents issued by Frederick III from Prussian and Livonian archives. Sources from Gdańsk (usually copies) were used for the identification of 25 documents and letters by Frederick III. The author of the article provides information about the copies of the imperial documents and letters in the Gdańsk archive, taken into account by Eibl upon the basis of other archival resources. The article also discusses four letters omitted in Regesta Imperii, three of which are edited in a source appendix.

    Promoted by many cities to meet the commute needs of their residents (for work, education, etc.), urban rail transport is a spatially expanding system. The safety of rail passengers and road users is one of the most important factors to consider when designing the infrastructure and assessing the operation of the urban tram system. One of the unsolved issues in the functioning of tram transport are sections of tramways with large longitudinal slopes. The article presents an attempt to use risk management for assessing the operational safety of tramways located on road sections with large longitudinal gradients. This particular problem occurs on a tram route in Gdansk. It runs along a street (partly on an overpass) with a gradient above 5% and a small horizontal curve. Risk was assessed using TRANS-RISK, a risk management method. In the first stage, a risk analysis was carried out using the Bow-Tie methods and error trees. The main risks of serious accidents on the analysed section of the tramway were identified. Three sub-concepts were used to assess risk: individual, societal and collective. Although not generally used for assessments of urban transport infrastructure, the latter was found most useful for assessing the safety of the analysed infrastructure. The results of the analyses and assessments helped to formulate design and maintenance principles for tram infrastructure located on sections with steep gradients.
    Miejski transport szynowy wielu miastach stanowi istotny element systemu transportowego i jest przestrzennie rozwijającym się systemem zapewniająacym mieszkańcom codzienną obsługę transportową. Bezpieczeństwo pasażerów transportu szynowego i użytkowników dróg jest jednym z najważniejszych czynników, który należy uwzględnić w trakcie projektowania infrastruktury oraz w ocenie operacyjnej systemu miejskiego transportu tramwajowego. Jedną z nierozwiązanych kwestii funkcjonowania transportu tramwajowego są odcinki dróg tramwajowych o dużych pochyleniach podłużnych. W artykule przedstawiono próbę zastosowania metody zarządzania ryzkiem do oceny bezpieczeństwa funkcjonowania dróg tramwajowych na obiektach zlokalizowanych na odcinkach dróg o dużych pochyleniach podłużnych. Taki problem występuje na trasie tramwajowej w Gdańsku przebiegającej na ulicy (częściowo na estakadzie) o pochyleniu położonej powyżej 5% i małym łuku poziomym. Do oceny ryzyka zastosowano metodę zarządzania ryzykiem w transporcie TRANS-RISK. W pierwszym etapie przeprowadzono analizę ryzyka zagrożeń, korzystając z metod Bow-Tie i drzewa błedów zidentyfikowano główne zagrożenia poważnymi wypadkami na analizowanym odcinku drogi tramwajowej. Do oceny ryzyka zastosowano trzy podejścia oceniając ryzyko: indywidualne, społeczne i kolektywne. To ostatnie, nie używane w tego typu ocenach miejskiej infrastruktury transportowej, okazało się najbardziej przydatne do oceny bezpieczeństwa analizowanej infrastruktury. Wyniki przeprowadzonych analiz i ocen pozwoliły na sformułowanie zasad projektowania i utrzymania obiektów infrastruktury tramwajowej położonej na odcinkach o dużych pochyleniach.

    In 1454, King Kazimierz IV Jagiellończyk incorporated Prussia intothe Kingdom of Poland. This act became the direct cause of the Thirteen Years’ War with the Teutonic Order. The privilege of incorporation (Privilegium incorporationis) of March 6, 1454, granted to representatives of the Prussian states at that time, became the most important source of rights that created the legal basis for the autonomy of Royal Prussia within the Polish‑Lithuanian Commonwealth. The original of the document was kept in the Toruń archives. Numerous copies from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries testify to a considerable interest in issues relating to the autonomy of Royal Prussia. This resulted from the actions of the Commonwealth of Poland aimed at limiting the political separateness of Prussia. The subject of the article is the question of knowledge of the content of the incorporation privilege in Gdańsk in the period immediately after the end of the Thirteen Years’ War (after 1466). In 1470, Gdańsk obtained a copy of the privilege (which has not survived to this day), sent from Toruń. A second copy is in a manuscript drawn up in 1485 in connection with the participation of envoys from Gdańsk in the congress of Prussian states in Toruń. During this congress, King Kazimierz Jagiellończyk demanded the levying of new taxes in Prussia to meet the needs of royal policy. This met with opposition from the Prussian states and led to a dispute with the King. Central to the matter were the rights of the Prussian states set out in the Privilegium incorporationis of 1454. It is to be assumed that the Gdańsk sources presented in the article are among the oldest identified copies of the incorporation privilege.

    Maria Bogucka (1929–2020) is one of Poland’s most outstanding representatives of historiography in the period after the Second World War. She dealt with a myriad of areas, such as the history of trade, everyday life, the problem of the position of the bourgeoisie in the social structure of pre-partitioned Poland and various aspects of the history of early modern culture. In the earliest period of her academic career (the 1950s and 1960s), under the guidance of Marian Małowist, she took up the subject of the development of crafts in the late Middle Ages and early modern times, with her research focusing primarily on Gdańsk, the largest city in pre-partition Poland. In her research, she sought to isolate the features of early capitalism in the relations of production of the city’s craftsmen, and she also focused her interest on artisans operating outside the guild system. Bogucka explained the changes in the economic situation in crafts, examining the relationship between this form of production and agricultural production and trade development.
