    The subject of the article is the analysis of solutions and applications of modern information and communication technologies (ICT) in urban centers and the measurement of transport quality indicators, taking into account the requirements of the ISO 37120 standard: Sustainable cities and communities – indicators for city services and quality of life. The article consists of two parts. In part I of the article, the subject of smart cities was introduced, including the functioning concepts of smart city. A description of the shaping of urban spaces and the quality of life in the smart aspect was made, taking into account the issues of sustainable development. The characteristics of the ISO 37120 standard, used to measure the level of services and living conditions in cities, are presented. The basic and auxiliary indicators in the field of city services and quality of life, including those related to transport, were presented. Polish cities that received the smart city certificate were listed. At the end of part I, there was a review of experiences and solutions that improve mobility that operate in selected cities around the world and in Europe.

    Tematem artykułu jest analiza rozwiązań i zastosowań nowoczesnych technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych (ICT) w ośrodkach miejskich oraz pomiar wskaźników jakości transportu z uwzględnieniem wymagań normy ISO 37120: Zrównoważony rozwój społeczny – wskaźniki usług miejskich i jakości życia. Artykuł składa się z dwóch części. W części przybliżono tematykę inteligentnych miast, w tym przytoczono funkcjonujące pojęcia smart city. Dokonano opisu kształtowania przestrzeni miejskich i jakości życia w aspekcie smart, z uwzględnieniem zagadnień zrównoważonego rozwoju. Przedstawiono charakterystykę normy ISO 37120 służącą do pomiaru poziomu usług i warunków życia w miastach. Przedstawiono podstawowe i pomocnicze wskaźniki w zakresie usług miejskich i jakości życia, w tym z obszaru tematyki transportu. Wymieniono polskie miasta, które uzyskały certyfikat inteligentnego miasta. Na zakończenie części I dokonano przeglądu doświadczeń i rozwiązań poprawiających mobilność, które funkcjonują w wybranych miastach na świecie.

    The basic process of minerals’ mechanical preparation, including coal, is a beneficiation process which has a decisive impact on quantitative-and-qualitative parameters of commercial products. At present the products of the MBE-CMT, Allmineral and Tenova companies have big market shares as regards foreign water pulsatory jigs, as well as ITG KOMAG on the local Polish market. New implementations of jigs, developed at the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology, for beneficiation of coking coal and steam coal in collaboration with Carbo-Eco Ltd. and Fugor Ltd. companies, were realized in 2019. Technical and technological parameters of new devices are described in the article. Supply systems of feed are presented as well as the method of collecting tailings and middlings. New design solutions, applied in modernized preparation plants, aimed at an improvement of jigs production capacity and efficiency are presented. In the case of each jig, after its activation and conducted adjusting processes, exact tests of a beneficiation efficiency were performed and their results are presented in the tabular form. Basic beneficiation accuracy indicators and parameters of products’ separation as well as balances of products are given. The test results, obtained from newly activated jigs, are discussed.

    Opis:
    Simple methods for detection and isolation of protein-porphyrin complexes were elaborated in our laboratory. They are based on the separation of protein-porphyrin complexes in native polyacrylamide gel and measurement of their fluorescence, with the use of two detection systems: the commercially available Gel DocTM 2000 system, and a system specially designed for the purpose of these investigations, concerning protein-porphyrin interactions. The fluorescent complexes can be electro-transferred from the gel onto PVDF membrane, eluted and analyzed in order to identify the protein interacting with porphyrins.

    Opis:
    Pregnancy increases metabolic demand for insulin and may lead to the exhaustion of intraportally transplanted islets and post-gestational hyperglycemia. To prevent these complications, we implemented preemptive insulin supplementation during two subsequent pregnancies in an insulin-independent islet transplant recipient. This strategy resulted in optimal blood glucose control during the pregnancies, the preservation of the optimal islet graft function and the postpartum maintenance of long-term insulin independence.
