    Simple methods for detection and isolation of protein-porphyrin complexes were elaborated in our laboratory. They are based on the separation of protein-porphyrin complexes in native polyacrylamide gel and measurement of their fluorescence, with the use of two detection systems: the commercially available Gel DocTM 2000 system, and a system specially designed for the purpose of these investigations, concerning protein-porphyrin interactions. The fluorescent complexes can be electro-transferred from the gel onto PVDF membrane, eluted and analyzed in order to identify the protein interacting with porphyrins.

    Tekst poddaje analizie zjawisko bezdomności, głównie w odniesieniu do bezdomnych z terenów Krakowa, gdzie skala tego problemu jest szeroka.     The purpose of the article was to point out the possibilities of applying metaanalysis in economic science and particularly in econometrics. So far, in Poland meta-analyses were applied in behavioral sciences, medicine and some in economic studies and management, whereas this method has been used used elsewhere since the 1970s for solving a wide spectrum of problems in many fields of study. The present article shows meta-analysis as the method using statistical tools the most, from amongst all the methods of the literature review, and it shows the procedure of carrying it out step by step and its advantages and disadvantages.

    W artykule przedstawiono pojęcie rozwoju i wzrostu gospodarczego, a także kluczowe teorie związane z tymi pojęciami. Zaprezentowano podstawowe miary rozwoju i wzro-stu gospodarczego, a także zaprezentowano dane statystyczne dla Polski w latach 1996-2014 ukazujące wybrane miary wzrostu gospodarczego i nierówności społecznych. Do-konano analizy trendów z wykorzystaniem klasycznej metody najmniejszych kwadratów.
    In the article the development and the growth in the economy, as well as crucial theories associated with these notions were presented. Basic measures of the development and the growth in the economy were presented, as well as statistical data in Poland since 1996 till 2014 about chosen measures of the growth in the economy and social inequali-ties were shown. The analysis of trends with using the classic least squares method was done in the paper.

    Overlapping processes of changes in near and distant environment of enterprise, creating new concept of developing the enterprise and building its competitive position thanks to investments in human capital, R&D and innovations as well as the increase in the popularity of the concept of business administration orientated to the increase its goodwill was an inspiration to undertake the research included in the article. The work contains answers for the research questions: whether innovations created in or for the enterprise are necessary and affect its value understood as the market value, how to cre-ate innovations in the enterprise, how to measure the effectiveness of the R&D and in-novative politics and what activities in the enterprise can be called the best practices in the range of R&D and innovative politics. Moreover in the article exactly these best practices done by the Lubusz construction industry enterprise ZIEL-BRUK® were shown. Purposes of this cooperation, sources of new ideas for creating the innovation in the enterprise were portrayed as well.

    Creativity and Originality in the Naming of Culinary Products on the Example of Ham Names in Polish The article presents and analyzes ham names in the Polish language. In Polish (possibly Slavic) onomastics, the names of products are the subject of chrematonomastic research and are called chrematonyms. These are names that on the one hand identify the product and on the other hand are often of advertising character, and their aim is to arouse the interest of the potential buyer. The article focuses on naming process of product names. At first glance, it can be seen that producers exhibit enormous creativity in this area to evoke specific associations in consumers. We also try to answer the question of how much the name of the product underlines its value. In this perspective, the names of goods become part of the marketing strategy of producers.
    Im Beitrag werden polnische Schinkennamen präsentiert und analysiert. In der polnischen (bzw. slawischen) Onomastik gehören Warennamen zum Forschungsfeld der Chrematonomastik und werden Chrematonyme genannt. Es handelt sich um Warennamen, die das Produkt einerseits identifizieren sollen, andererseits aber oft einen werbenden Charakter besitzen, was bedeutet, dass sie Interesse am Kauf und Aufmerksamkeit potentieller Käufer wecken sollen. Es wird auch auf ihre Bildungsweise eingegangen. Besonders im Falle von polnischen Namen fällt ins Auge, dass die Produzenten mit großer Kreativität die Warennamen bilden, um bei den Konsumenten gewisse Assoziationen anzusprechen oder gar hervorzurufen. Wir versuchen auch auf die Frage einzugehen, in wieweit die Namen den Wert der von ihnen bezeichneten Produkte hervorheben bzw. „nobilitieren“. Aus dieser Perspektive scheinen die Warennamen ein Teil der Marketingstrategie der Firmen zu sein.

    Wykorzystując metodę wywiadu żywieniowego, analizie poddano sposób żywienia mężczyzn uprawiających amatorsko sporty siłowe. Posługując się programem komputerowym DietetykPro, oceniono stopień, w jakim stosowana przez ankietowanych dieta pokrywa ich faktyczne zapotrzebowanie. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań wykazały istotne błędy żywieniowe popełniane przez ankietowanych. Dieta badanych mężczyzn wymagała zbilansowania zarówno pod względem całkowitej podaży energii, jak i pod względem jej udziału z poszczególnych grup makroskładników. Stwierdzono zbyt niski poziom dostarczanej z pożywieniem energii, a jednocześnie zbyt niski udział energii pochodzącej z węglowodanów i zdecydowanie zbyt wysokie spożycie białka. Oceniając podaż mikroelementów, na uwagę zasługuje blisko 3-krotne przekroczenie zapotrzebowania na fosfor oraz zbyt niskie spożycie jodu, potasu i wapnia. Osoby suplementujące swoją dietę dostarczały do organizmu więcej energii i węglowodanów, ale również błonnika i wapnia. Różnice w podaży innych składników mineralnych oraz witamin nie były istotne statystycznie. W konkluzji stwierdzono konieczność edukacji żywieniowej badanych osób i zalecono konsultacje z dietetykiem w celu opracowania zbilansowanej diety, dostosowanej do potrzeb wynikających z treningu siłowego.
    Nutrition habits of male amateurs practicing strength sports have been researched with the application of the nutritional interview method. The DietetykPro computer software has been used to assess the extent to which the diet of the respondents covers their actual demand. The results show that the respondents commit serious nutrition mistakes. Their diet needs to be balanced in terms of the total energy supply and its contribution from particular groups of macroelements. The obtained levels of supplied energy were too low. At the same time, too low a proportion of energy coming from the carbohydrates and definitely too high protein intake were observed. When assessing the intake of micronutrients, the 3-times higher demand for phosphorus consumption and the low intake of iodine, potassium and calcium deserve closer attention. The respondents supplementing their diets provided their organisms with more energy, carbohydrates, fiber and calcium. The differences in the supply of other minerals and vitamins were not statistically significant. In conclusion, nutritional education of the survey participants is essential and consultation with a dietician is recommended in order to develop a balanced diet adjusted to their strength sports-related needs.

    Memories of World War II (WW2) have a deeply cultural dimension and therefore are interesting for intercultural studies. This paper is based on an interpretative analysis of some field and desk research data, carried out in Poland by an interdisciplinary team of social scientists, educators and historians in 2018–2020. It is focused on socio-educational factors in the transfer of knowledge and memory of WW2. The researchers try to distinguish socio-educational factors responsible for the preservation of this memory across a range of age cohorts. Sources of knowledge, school curricula and socio-demographic aspects are set against the measured levels of historic facts concerning WW2. The data sets derive from questionnaires, telephone interviews and in-depth interviews with diverse groups of respondents along with a review of teaching history curricula in 1946–2020. On the basis of the findings, it is argued that a successful transfer of memory and knowledge of WW2 goes beyond teaching history at schools and beyond the contemporary political agenda. This article is meant to serve as a barometer of social changes in respect to fading memories of WW2.

    Opis:
    Tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminium with poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (Alq₃:PVK) or polystyrene sulfonate (Alq₃:PSS) were deposited by spin-coating on glass and silicon substrates. SEM measurements show that relatively smooth thin films were obtained. Fourier transform infrared measurements were performed to confirm the composition of the samples. The optical properties of thin films containing Alq₃:PVK and Alq₃:PSS were characterised using absorption spectroscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry. It was found that the absorption spectrum of Alq₃:PVK is characterised by four bands, while for Alq₃:PSS only three bands are visible. The photoluminescence of the studied thin layers shows a peak with a maximum at about 500 nm. Additionally, cyclic voltammetry of Alq₃ is also presented. Theoretical density functional theory calculations provide the insight into the interaction and nature of Alq₃:PVK and Alq₃:PSS excited states. Finally, the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) structure based on Alq₃:PVK was fabricated and showed strong electroluminescence with a green emission at 520 nm. The results of the device show that the ITO/PEDOT:PSS/Alq₃:PVK/Ca/Al system can be useful for the production of low-cost OLEDs with Alq₃:PVK as an active layer for future lighting applications.
