The authoress has discussed the problem of autoimmunization processes and their influence on the pathogenesis of many parasitic diseases. Particular attention has been given to the action of auto-antibodies on the host's organism and to the cause of their formation, based on the occurrence of dual antigens in partners of the system host-parasite. This is a controversial and open question, encouraging further r esearch.

Now in the time especially intensive development of industry the question of environment pollution became very important. According to review of the problem heavy metals are one of the most hazardous constituents of xenobiotics. Their toxic effects, among other, are manifested directly on the elements of the immune system as well on the modification of the immune response. The influence of heavy metals on the host-parasite system is rather poorly recognized and here we are discused about it, according to literature and own experience. Special attention is paying to their impact on the immune response of infected and treated with lead, cadmium or mercury host and on the parasite. The definitive host eg. fishes and their some parasite can be used as potential accumulation indicators of aquatic environment of heavy metal pollution.

Opis:
Albendazole (Smith Kline, Beecham) in a dose of 20 mg/kg/day was given to B6C3F₁ mice exposed to 300 larvae of T. pseudospiralis or T. spiralis. The drug was introduced on days 2, 3 and 4; or 4, 5 and 6; or 18, 19 and 20 after infection. It limited the intensity of intestinal and muscle phases of trichinellosis. Given at the stage of maturation of adult forms and production of new-born larvae, the drug caused almost total elimination of both species from the intestines of mice and a decrease in the numbers of muscle larvae, with a tendency towards a greater reduction of larvae and adults of T. pseudospiralis. The drug did not change the course of infection when given at the phase of infectiveness of larvae.
