Opis:
The article is devoted to sui generis tropology of memory of the Shoah that can be discovered in Piotr Sommer’s poetry. In the works by the author of Pamiątki po nas, such memory is coded by means of discrete literary devices, but it seems to be an important source of experience written down in the texts. The author endeavours to construct a dynamic, internally varied model of the Sommerian “memorial poem”; her arguments are supported with notions taken from the theories of memory and its representation influential in contemporary humanities.
Autorka próbuje skonstruować dynamiczny, wewnętrznie zróżnicowany model Sommerowskiego „wiersza memorialnego”, precyzując wywód pojęciami zaczerpniętymi z istotnych dla współczesnej humanistyki teorii pamięci i jej reprezentacji.

Opis:
The article aims at outlining the figure of Piotr Matywiecki as a poet representing one of the types of the contemporary religious lyrical poetry. The discussed works constitute an expression of a specific, Christian and Jewish identity and, consequently, it can be considered emblematic to modern spirituality – the one functioning within the unspecified and hybrid borderland. At the core of the discussion lies the notion of “biblical nature”, which as a feature of literary works has been worked out and applied by the author of Conversion of Max Jacob himself, in reference to the works of such authors as Bolesław Leśmian, Bruno Schulz, Julian Tuwim and Arnold Słucki. Analysis of the texts shows that it can be also distinguished in his own poetical output which is to a great extent based on biblical subjects and symbols, and explores threads of the Old and New Testament as well as shows their functioning in the culture. The most handy example for the issues outlined in that way is “biblical poems”, that is, a number of apocryphal poems embodying biblical motifs in a modern poem form. here, these are discussed not only in detail but also in the context of the whole poetical and essayistic works of the presented author. The interpretations are summed up by including the work of Piotr Matywiecki in the trend of Polish Theo-linguistic poetry discussing theological issues from the perspective of the 20th century philosophy of language and postsecularism

Finding the “common language of fire”: Jerzy Ficowski on Jewish mysticism (prolegomena) This article is an attempt to outline the relationship between the work of Jerzy Ficowski and the Jewish mystical thought that was brought in this paper to a kabbalistic element – a synthesis of components considered basic for two great currents of the non-orthodox Judaism: Kabbalah and Hasidism. At the level of content they consist of the motifs of the Book, Word and Letter, Angels and Light, the messianic topos of the Just, cosmogonic and eschatological myths, as well as specific, non-linear recognition of time – which are strongly present in the poetry of the author of the Regions of the Great Heresy. At the level of structure there are noticeable the emanation model and the duality of language and imagination, of matter and spirituality – diametrically different elements, yet gravitating toward the ultimate unity. The text, containing references to translation and “Schulzian” output of Jerzy Ficowski, is focused on his poetry and is an introduction to its aspectual monograph. Key words: contemporary Polish poetry; Jerzy Ficowski; Jewish mysticism; Kabbalah; Hasidism;

Opis:
W artykule zawarta została propozycja wykorzystania w ramach licealnej edukacji polonistycznej eseju – gatunku zróżnicowanego formalnie i treściowo, hybrydycznego i trudnego w odbiorze, lecz jednocześnie bardzo użytecznego dydaktycznie.
The article offers a proposal of using essay, within high school Polish studies, as a genre which is diverse formally and substantially, hybrid and cerebral, still, useful in a teaching practice. The wide range of essayistic forms is limited to the so-called "Polish essay" – the notion introduced and defined by Czesław Miłosz. An example of genre implementation and a subject of analysis is his own essay entitled Dostojewski – discussing the selected aspects of life and writings of the Russian writer and, most of all, presenting his image from the subjective perspective of the Polish Nobel prize winner.

Opis:
The paper is a comparative study of two poems by Jerzy Ficowski in memory of Bruno Schulz. Cliché-verre [glass printing plate cast] is a special technique used by the author of The Cinnamon Shops in his Booke of Idolatry, unprecedented in the history of Polish graphic art. As an interpretation formula, it enables to track the poetic creation of the figure of Schulz from a disportrait (a negative exposition of his strong absence) to an apocryph (an expressive reconstruction, and, more specifically, re-creation of the artist beginning his artistic journey, presented in a light of a biographical context). The paper discusses the main connections between the works of both authors, philosophical assumptions of the master implemented by Ficowski, analogous mythological constructions, and references to the Jewish Kabbalah focused on the main motif of the Book.

The article attempts to present the comparison of two translator’s achievements:Zbigniew Dmitroca’s Radio Swoboda and Jerzy Czech’s Wdrapałem się na piedestał.The anthologist’s work is considered here as both the act of translation and revelation- joining the translation of literary texts and their compilation in anthologieswith scrutinizing the particular writers and literary phenomena as well as the processof translation itself, and introducing a new, transforming quality to the nativepoetry. A translator-anthologist can be perceived in that perspective as a link betweentwo literary cultures, and also as an initiator of changes and an independentcreator who develops, in his own language and on his own conditions, a certain newPolish canon of Russian poetry.

Ewa Maria GoczałThe Faculty of PhilologyPedagogical University of Cracow  Exits: Avant-gardisation as an Incentive to Canonization (the Case of Różewicz the Poet) Abstract: The article aims at determining the specificity of canonical character of the poetry of Tadeusz Różewicz – one of the most important writers of the Polish literature of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, whose just recently finished work – although there are already numerous studies – is only now subjected to all-embracing summaries. The discussion has been submitted to the concept of continual canonization which corresponds with the diagnosis of multiplicity and dynamism of modern canons as well as conforms with, the basic to the author of Faces of Anxiety, the movement of transgression – constant avant-gardisation, going beyond individual and non-individual norms and established models. The study is divided into four parts corresponding with four aspects of Różewicz's excesses. The first one is a general description of the postulated category of canonical character in the context of the work of the author of Exit; the second one describes a type of avant-garde specific to the author; the third one concerns negative poetics. The fourth part sums up the issue by discussing the newest selection of Różewicz's poetry – Znikanie [Disappearance] edited and commented by Jacek Gutorow, poet and literature scholar. The problem of paradoxical continuation based on variability, poetic tradition, and the strategy of external canonization of the writer will be discussed – through the creation of a new canon of his poems which will be potential, alternative, personal and explicitly submitted to the subject of the sense of writing and the autotelic nature of poetry.Keywords: avant-garde, canon, contemporary poetry
