    One of the challenges of any laboratory dealing with drilling fluids is to develop a mud that is also environmentally friendly and, on the other hand, inhibits the clay layers to a maximum. The article presents the influence of water on various samples of clay rocks characterized by different geological age. The research was carried out using the Linear Swelling Meter. The geological age, the environment in which the clay rock was formed, the depth of burial – all these factors affect the swelling properties of individual clay rocks. Knowledge of the swelling properties of clay rocks allows the proper selection of drilling fluid system.

    Opis:
    The papers present a trial of use of the Pearson family distributions in modeling the monthly distributions of the unemployment rates by the regions in 2004-2007 period. Results of fitting the Pearson distributions were compared with approximants given by Generaized Extreme Value distribution and Gamma distribution. In many cases Pearson distributions were better fitted than "classical" distributions.

    Opis:
    The aim of our research was to investigate the genotoxic effects of cobalt chloride and copper chloride in mouse bone marrow cells using the micronucleus (MN) assay. The three different concentrations of cobalt chloride (11.2, 22.5 and 45 mg kg-1) and copper chloride (1.17, 2.35 and 4.70 mg kg-1) were injected intraperitoneally to mice for 24 and 48 hours. It was observed that both of these heavy metals induced a signifi cant increase in frequency of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes (MNPCE) at different concentrations in mice for 24 and 48 hours when compared with the control. Furthermore, the signifi cant reduction for the polychromatic erythrocyte/normochromatic erythrocyte (PCE/NCE) ratio which is indicative of bone marrow cytotoxicity was observed in bone marrow cells which were treated with copper chloride at all concentrations for 24 and 48 hours. No reduction of the PCE/NCE ratio was observed both 24 and 48 hours after all the doses of cobalt chloride tested as compared to the negative control. These results lead us to the conclusion that copper chloride may have genotoxic and cytotoxic properties due to induction in the frequency of MN and a reduction in PCE/NCE ratio in bone marrow cells of mice, whereas cobalt chloride induced only genotoxic effect in mice bone marrow.

    В 1973-1980 гг. проводили несколько трехлетних циклов опытов с 17 сортами картофеля. Исследования проводились на опытом поле Института метеорологии и водного хозяйства в Борова Гура или в опыт ной станции Института картофелеводства Ядвисин. Орошение нормой полива 20 и 40 мм проводилось, когда влажность почвы снижалась ниже 50% полевой влагоемкости. Основой классификации результатов было влияние орошения на величину общего урожая. Были выделены две группы сортов: с высшими потребностями в воде, т.е. таких, у которых повышение поливной нормы с 20 до 40 мм приводило к существенному повышению урожая клубней, и с меньшими требованиями. В этой группе сортов самый высокой урожай получали при применении поливной нормы 20 мм. Установлено, что орошение приводило к снижению участия в урожае фракции саженцев 35-45 мм, а к повышению участия фракции 45-55 мм. Несмотря на изменения в структуре саженцев, урожай в т/га и коэффициент размножения образовались пропорционально общему урожаю. Самый высокий урожай саженцев и самый высокий коэффициент размножения были получены в варианте гарантирующем наивысший общий урожай. В случае отсутствия точной информации о потребностях в воде возделы ваемого сорта „безопасная" норма воды в орошении должна составлять 20 мм.
    Several three-year cycles of experiments with the total number of 17 potato varieties were carried out in the period 1973-1980. The investigations were conducted on an experimental field of the Institute of Meteorology and Management at Borowa Góra and at the Experiment Station Jadwisin. Irrigation with the water rate of 20 and 40 mm was applied when the soil moisture level dropped below 50% of field water capacity. The classification of results was based on the irrigation effect on the total yield level. Two groups of varieties were distinguished, viz.: with higher water requirements, i.e. in which an increase of water rate from 20 up to 40 mm caused a significant growth of the yield of tubers, and with lower requirements. In the latter group the highest yield was obtained at application of the water rate of 20 mm. It has been found that the irrigation led to a decrease of the fraction of seed potatoes of 35-45 mm in dia in the yield and to an increase of the fraction of tubers of 45-55 mm in dia. Despite changes in the structure of seed potatoes, the yield form hectare and the reproduction coefficient were proportional to the total yield. The highest yield of seed potatoes and the highest reproduction coefficient were obtained in the treatment ensuring the highest total yield. In case of a lack of an exact information concerning water requirements of the given variety cultivated, the „safe" single water rate in irrigation should amount to 20 mm.

    Artykuł opisuje zastosowanie płuczki na bazie mrówczanu potasu do dowiercania w otworze K-88 w warstwach dolomitu głównego. W opracowaniu pokazano, jak zmieniały się wartości niektórych parametrów płuczki w trakcie dowiercania. Podjęto także próbę przeprowadzenia badań laboratoryjnych na płuczce mrówczanowej wygrzewanej w temp. 130 stopni Celsjusza. Wyniki badań ujęto w tabeli i na wykresach. Publikacja opisuje także przewagę płuczki mrówczanowej nad tradycyjnymi systemami płuczkowymi.
    This article reports the application of formate based drilling mud system while drilling-in through the main dolomite layers of the K-88 well. Paper exhibits the changing tendency of some mud parameters while drilling in progress. The crack was taken to conduct the lab researches on the mud conditioned in 130 degrees of Celsius. All the results are given in the table and on the charts. The paper also describes the advantages and supremacy of formate based mud system.

    A detailed computer analysis of the electron spin echo envelope modulations of SeO$\text{}_{3}$ radical in a suitable orientation of (NH$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{3}$H(SeO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{2}$ single crystal is presented. It was found that the modulations are due to a weak dipolar coupling with nitrogens and protons of the only two neighbouring NH$\text{}_{4}$ groups among the five NH$\text{}_{4}$ groups surrounding SeO¯$\text{}_{3}$ center. Isotropic dipolar coupling constant is 1.7 MHz for nitrogens and 0.9 MHz for protons. It was shown that thermal reorientations of NH$\text{}_{4}$ groups observed by NMR have a negligible effect on the electron spin echo envelope modulation pattern but can be responsible for the same value of a$\text{}^{H}$$\text{}_{iso}$ for all protons in a NH$\text{}_{4}$ group. A good fit obtained between experimental spectra and theoretical calculations assuming nondisturbed crystal geometry indicates a small damage of the crystal by X-rays during the radical center formation.

    Magnetic resonance imaging was used for studies of the gelation and swelling processes of toluene-based bis-urea prepared in a form of cylindrical tablet and immersed in cyclohexane. The processes were investigated with the use of Bruker AVANCE (300 MHz) spectrometer equipped with a micro imaging probe head. The images were taken for cyclohexane protons within the bis-urea gel formed around the sample dry core at different intervals of the immersion. The mobility of the solvent molecules was estimated from the spatially resolved distribution of the spin-spin relaxation time T$\text{}_{2}$ and the spin densitiesρ, calculated on the basis of the images obtained. It was shown that the time-evolution of the thickness of the gel layer can be well described by the power equation with an exponent equal to 0.47 (±0.04), indicating the Fickian nature of the diffusion of cyclohexane molecules.
