Today electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular in our lives. Especially in motorsport. However, they are not as widely used. Formula E, which was created to boost electric motorsport, is not enough to popularize it. Every driver who wants to advance to F1 (highest rank racing series) has to start from karting between the ages of 5 and 8. But today go-karts are only powered by internal combustion engines. In order to provide young drivers with the possibility of racing small electric vehicles called eKarts, internal combustion engines have to be replaced with electric motors. eKarts should offer similar performance to combustion engine go-karts. It was proven by the author in previous papers that current technology enables to construct eKarts for children's and juniors` categories. In this paper concept of the construction of eKart uses advantages of electric motors which are presented. The proposed construction concept assumes the introduction of an independent wheel drive of the rear axle allowing the so-called torque vectoringu.
Pojazdy elektryczne stają się coraz bardziej popularne w naszym życiu. Nie są jednak tak szeroko stosowane w sporcie motorowym. Formuła E, stworzona w celu zwiększenia popu-larności napędu elektrycznego w sporcie motorowym, nie wystarczy. Każdy kierowca, który chce awansować do Formuły 1 (seria wyścigów o najwyższej randze), powinien swą przy-godę ze sportem motorowym rozpocząć od kartingu najlepiej w wieku 5 lat. Obecnie gokarty są napędzane tylko silnikami spalinowymi. W celu zapewnienia młodym kierowcom możliwości ścigania się małymi pojazdami elektrycznymi zwanymi eKarts, silniki spalinowe powinny zostać zastąpione silnikami elektrycznymi. Jednocześnie, eKart powinien oferować osiągi podobne do gokartów spalinowych. W artykule podsumowano efekty analiz możliwości budowy eKarta dla różnych kategorii wiekowych. Udowodniono, że obecna technologia umożliwia tworzenie eKartów dla kategorii dzieci i juniorów. W publikacji zaproponowano również koncepcję budowy eKarta wykorzystującego zalety silników elektrycznych. Zaproponowana koncepcja budowy zakłada wprowadzenie niezależnego napędu kół osi tylnej pozwalającą na tzw. torque vectoring.

The paper presents the results of a thorough analysis of selected physicochemical parameters of engine oils at the end of their useful life, based on the oil change intervals assumed by vehicle users. Twelve samples of used Castrol Edge 5W/30 synthetic oil and five samples of used Castrol Magnatec 10W/40 semi-synthetic oil were tested. The Eralytics's ERASPEC OIL device was used for the assessment of the following parameters: degree of oxidation, degree of nitration, degree of sulfonation, water content, glycol content, total base number (TBN), total acid number (TAN) and kinematic viscosity at 40°C and 100°C. The research was conducted on the basis of the ASTM E2412-10 standard. The results regarding the parameter limit exceedances have also been presented in the paper. For both synthetic and semi-synthetic oils, the exceedance of kinematic viscosity measured at 40°C was particularly striking. In fourteen samples (out of seventeen tested), at least one exceedance of the limit value (out of nine analyzed) has been observed.

This article presents a way of calibration of an unconventional two-current circuit, named 2J+2R, which consists of two current sources and two referential resistors connected to the circuit mass. This bridge was used to measure the beam deflection and the temperature increase simultaneously with the use of a pair of metal strain gauges. This paper contains theoretical and corrected (after calibration) processing characteristics of the measurement circuit. Calibration coefficients of both inputs, responsible for measurement of the measured values in the places where the strain gauges are attached, were calculated. Moreover, the standard combined and expanded uncertainties of both calibration coefficients were calculated and an uncertainty budget was made.

A proper selection of steam reforming catalyst geometry has a direct effect on the efficiency and economy of hydrogen production from natural gas and is a very important technological and engineering issue in terms of process optimisation. This paper determines the influence of widely used seven-hole grain diameter (ranging from 11 to 21 mm), h/d (height/diameter) ratio of catalyst grain and Sh/St (hole surface/total cylinder surface in cross-section) ratio (ranging from 0.13 to 0.37) on the gas load of catalyst bed, gas flow resistance, maximum wall temperature and the risk of catalyst coking. Calculations were based on the one-dimensional pseudo-homogeneous model of a steam reforming tubular reactor, with catalyst parameters derived from our investigations. The process analysis shows that it is advantageous, along the whole reformer tube length, to apply catalyst forms of h/d = 1 ratio, relatively large dimensions, possibly high bed porosity and Sh/St ≈ 0.30-0.37 ratio. It enables a considerable process intensification and the processing of more natural gas at the same flow resistance, despite lower bed activity, without catalyst coking risk. Alternatively, plant pressure drop can be reduced maintaining the same gas load, which translates directly into diminishing the operating costs as a result of lowering power consumption for gas compression.

Railway transport is considered the most environmentally friendly. However, taking into account all factors, (including point pollution associated with the production of energy necessary for the movement of electric traction vehicles); this position is attractive, but a little less. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the amount of energy produced for railway transport is sufficient, but the lowest as possible. Creating new systems whose components for correct operation require a supply of electricity, they should be designed in such a way as to consume as little energy but meeting a series of standards. The aim of the article is to review selected requirements for the power supply of a railway vehicle equipped with automatic train control devices and identification of energy demand in the scope of supplying the rmCBTC on-board system, which is being developed by Rail-Mil Computers Company from Warsaw and the Faculty of Transport of the Warsaw University of Technology. The article presents an analysis of formal and legal requirements in the field of traction vehicles. Reference was made to the list of the Office of Rail Transport and the standards not included in it − PN-EN 50155, PN-EN 61000-6 and PN-EN 50125-2. Energy requirements in the field of traction vehicles equipped with an automatic train control system have been identified − e.g. voltage range of the on-board system, permissible decays, voltage dips, disturbances and environmental requirements. The energy requirements for the rmCBTC on-board system were also identified.

Introduction and objectives: In the United States, breast cancer (BC) is the most common non-skin cancer. In Poland, it is estimated that the number of new breast cancer cases affects about 13,500 women each year. There are many methods for nutritional status assessment. One of them is bioimpedance analysis (BIA). Direct bioimpedance measures (resistance, reactance, phase angle (PA)) determined by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) detectf changes in tissue electrical properties. The study was conducted to investigate whether there are any tissue electrical differences in patients with breast cancer. Materials and methods: The direct bioimpedance measures determined by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) were performed on 34 patients with BC and 34 healthy volunteers. The measurements were made with ImpediMed bioimpedance analysis SFB7 BioImp v1.55 (Pinkenba Qld 4008, Australia). Results: Reactance and resistance at 50 kHz was found to be significantly greater in patients with BC than in the control group (53.59° ± 1.53 vs. 47.26° ± 1.25, respectively, p=0.0031; 603.24° ± 15.38 ohm vs. 515.87° ± 11.48 ohm, respectively, p=0.00004). Conclusion: Pre-surgical patients diagnosed with BC have altered tissue electrical properties. Further observations of a larger patient group would be valuable to calculate survival, validate the prognostic significance of PA, and monitor nutritional and therapeutic interventions in this patient population.
