    Celem prezentowanego artykułu jest analiza czeskiej recepcji utworu Radki Denemarkovej pt. Pieniądze od Hitlera. Druga w karierze powieść czeskiej pisarki nie tylko wzbudziła duże zainteresowanie czytelników, lecz wywołała również dyskusję na temat zagadnień istotnych z punktu widzenia czeskiej tożsamości. Recenzje i opinie czeskich autorów dotyczące powieści skupiły się na pamięci o powojennej wysiedleniu Niemców sudeckich, wpływie komunizmu na współczesną pamięć przed- i powojennej historii Czechosłowacji oraz na mentalność czeską. Zainteresowanie wzbudziła także literacka wartość powieści. W tym przypadku ocena utworu Denemarkowej nie była jednoznaczna. Autor niniejszego artykułu zwraca także uwagę, że dyskusja wokół Pieniędzy od Hitlera może być traktowana jako część publicznej debaty o źródłach współczesnej czeskiej pamięci zbiorowej.
    The aim of this article is to analyze the Czech reception of the literary work Money from Hitler by Radka Denemarková. The second novel in the career of the Czech writer not only triggered much interest among readers, but also provoked a discussion about the issues essential for the Czech identity. Czech authors’ reviews and opinions concerning the novel focused on the memory of the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia and on the impact of the communist era on both the memory about pre- and post-war history of Czechoslovakia and on the Czech mentality. Furthermore, interest was triggered by the literary quality of Money from Hitler. In this respect the assessment of the novel was rather inconclusive. The author of this article also draws our attention to the fact that the discussion about the literary work by Denemarková can be seen as a part of the debate in the public sphere regarding the roots of the contemporary Czech collective memory.

Автор пытается указать на самые существенные разницы между Скандославией (идея Лихачева) а Евразией (сторонником идеи евразийства был Гумилев). Конфликт между идеями Лихачева и Гумилева сильно связан с их идеологическими и политическими взглядами. Статья подчеркивает также связи обеих идей с русскими интеллектуальными течениями ХIX века. Автор статьи утверждает, что точку зрения Лихачева можно связать с западнической традицией в русской интеллектуальной истории. В свою очередь, Евразия Льва Гумилева является частью современного антизападнического движения. LEV GUMILEV AND DMITRY LIKHACHOV: BETWEEN EURASIA AND SCANDOSLAVIA SummaryThe paper presents the views of the two Russian scholars Lev Gumilev and Dmitry Likhachov on the history of Russia. The author of this paper makes an attempt to outline the major differences between Likhachov’s concept of Scandoslavia and Gumilev’s concept of Eurasia. Furthermore, the author points to the relationship between the two concepts and the intellectual movements in Russia in the 19th century. Likhachov’s view draws on the Westernizers’ tradition in Russian intellectual history. Gumilev’s view, on the other hand, is associated with the contemporary Anti-Westernizers’ movement.

    This paper presents the views of Victor Erofeyev, a Russian writer and columnist, on the West. The author of this paper makes an attempt to show Erofeyev’s views on Western Europe and the USA, focusing particularly on selected aspects of the Western reality (religion, political correctness, politics, capitalism, mentality) as well as the West’s approach to Russia. Erofeyev’s views are determined by his opinion on society and politics. The author of this paper shows the relationship between Erofeyev’s approach to the West and the Westernizers’ movement, a Russian intellectual movement of the 19th century. The author also demonstrates how Erofeyev’s views are part of the Westernizers’ tradition in Russia’s intellectual life.

    The author of this article focuses on an interesting approach to Russian history, culture and geography, which was put forward by Dmitry Likhachev. According to Likhachev, the fact that Russia is located between the North and the South is by far more important than that it lies between the East and the West. Thus, it is more natural to identify Russia as Scandoslavia rather than as Eurasia. This approach affects Likhachev’s other outlooks. He criticizes the ideology of Eurasianism and tries to explain certain facts from Russian history (in particular those which shaped the Russian mentality) in a new way. The author of this article demonstrates that the idea of Scandoslavia is strongly connected with the Westernizers’ movement, a Russian intellectual movement from the 19th century, and that Likhachev’s views are part of the Westernizers’ tradition in Russia’s intellectual history.
