Opis:
Evapotranspiration is the one of the major role playing element in water cycle. More accurate measurement and forecasting of Evapotranspiration would enable more efficient water resources management. This study, is therefore, particularly focused on evapotranspiration modelling and forecasting, since forecasting would provide better information for optimal water resources management. There are numerous techniques of evapotranspiration forecasting that include autoregressive (AR) and moving average (MA), autoregressive moving average (ARMA), autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA), Thomas Feiring, etc. Out of these models ARIMA model has been found to be more suitable for analysis and forecasting of hydrological events. Therefore, in this study ARIMA models have been used for forecasting of mean monthly reference crop evapotranspiration by stochastic analysis. The data series of 102 years i.e. 1224 months of Bokaro District were used for analysis and forecasting. Different order of ARIMA model was selected on the basis of autocorrelation function (ACF) and partial autocorrelation (PACF) of data series. Maximum likelihood method was used for determining the parameters of the models. To see the statistical parameter of model, best fitted model is ARIMA (0, 1, 4) (0, 1, 1)12.
Ewapotranspiracja jest jednym z głównych elementów obiegu wody. Dokładniejsze pomiary i możliwość prognozowania ewapotranspiracji mogłyby umożliwić wydajniejsze zarządzanie zasobami wodnymi. Dlatego prezentowane w niniejszej pracy badania skoncentrowane były na modelowaniu i prognozowaniu ewapotranspiracji, ponieważ prognozowanie zapewni więcej informacji do optymalnego zarządzania zasobami wodnymi. Istnieje wiele technik prognozowania ewapotranspiracji, takich jak autoregresja (AR), średnia ruchoma (MA), autoregresyjna średnia ruchoma (ARMA), autoregresyjna zintegrowana średnia ruchoma (ARIMA), metoda Thomasa– Feiringa i inne. Stwierdzono, że spośród nich ARIMA jest bardziej odpowiednia do analizy i prognozowania zdarzeń hydrologicznych. Z tego powodu wykorzystano model ARIMA do prognozowania miesięcznych średnich wartości ewapotranspiracji potencjalnej poprzez analizę stochastyczną. Do analiz i prognozowania użyto serii danych ze 102 lat (1224 miesiące) z dystryktu Bokaro. Na podstawie funkcji autokorelacji (ACF) i cząstkowych autokorelacji (PACF) serii danych wybrano różny porządek modelu ARIMA. Do wyznaczenia parametrów modelu wykorzystano metodę maksymalnego prawdopodobieństwa. Najlepiej dostosowanymi parametrami statystycznymi modelu okazały się ARIMA (0, 1, 4) (0, 1, 1)12.

Opis:
In the present research paper, we investigated spin polarized electronic, magnetic, thermodynamic, and transport properties of thallium gadolinium dichalcogenides TlGdX₂ (X = S, Se, Te) using density functional theory. Electronic structure reveals that all the three compounds are wide band gap semiconductors which are beneficial for good thermoelectric performance. Calculated magnetic moment of TlGdX₂ is found to be in good agreement with available experimental values and mainly dominant by Gd³⁺ ions. Semiclassical Boltzmann transport theory has been used to calculate the Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity for the proposed dichalcogenides. Calculated values of the Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity are found to be consistent with available experimental values in literature. Thermodynamic properties of TlGdX₂ have also been estimated for the first time and explained on the basic facts.

Opis:
In continuation of our previous work, the current study explores an environmentally benign approach for the control of Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) using a synergistic combination of α,bT-unsaturated carbonyl compounds (1a-1e; 2a-2i) and the natural products, neem oil (N1) and nicotinic acid (N2). Our approach also evaluates the insecticidal activity of 3-(5-chloro-1,3-diaryl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-1-arylprop-2-en-1-one(2j-2o) consisting of bioactive moieties, viz., chalcone and pyrazole, in a single molecular structure. Compounds 2l and 2o exhibited maximum activity with 58% and 50 % of mortality, respectively, under laboratory conditions. Among various test combinations, 2a-N2 showed maximum insecticidal activity, with 54% mortality, comparable to that of the most active newly synthesized compound, 2l, followed by 1c-N1 and 2g-N2 with 52% mortality. The compound 2a was also found to be non-toxic to potato tuber used as a plant substrate in the current investigation.

Opis:
Noise mapping is a well-established practice among the European nations, and it has been follow for almost two decades. Recently, as per guidelines of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), India, noise mapping has been made mandatory in the mining expanses. This study is an effort to map the noise levels in nearby areas of mines in the northern Keonjhar district. The motive of this study is to quantify the existing A-weighted time-average sound level (LAeq, T) in the study area to probe its effects on the human dwellings and noise sensitive areas with the probability of future development of the mines, roads, and industrial and commercial zone. The LAeq, T was measured at 39 identified locations, including industrial, commercial, residential, and sensitive zones, 15 open cast mines, 3 major highways, and 3 haulage roads. With the utilisation of Predictor LimA Software and other GIS tools, the worked out data is mapped and noise contours are developed for the visualisation and identification of the extent and distribution of sound levels across the study area. This investigation discloses that the present noise level at 60% of the locations in silence and residential zone exposed to significantly high noise levels surpasses the prescribed limit of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), India. The observed day and night time LAeq, T level of both zones ranged between 43.2–62.2 dB(A) and 30.5–53.4 dB(A), respectively, whereas, the average Ldn values vary between 32.7 and 51.2 dB(A). The extensive mobility of heavy vehicles adjoining the sensitive areas and a nearby plethora of open cast mines is the leading cause of exceeded noise levels. The study divulges that the delicate establishments like schools and hospitals are susceptible to high noise levels throughout the day and night. A correlation between observed and software predicted values gives R2 of 0.605 for Ld, 0.217 for Ln, and 0.524 for Ldn. Finally, the mitigation measure is proposed and demonstrated using a contour map showing a significant reduction in the noise levels by 0–5.3 dB(A).

Severe leaf spot disease was observed on Aloe vera plants in the winters of 2011 and 2012 during a survey of various nurseries of Gwalior, India. Irregular, sunken, dark creamish brown spots having reddish brown margin were noticed on both surfaces of the leaves. The causal organism was consistently isolated from symptomatic leaves on potato dextrose agar media (PDA). A total 59 isolates of fungi were recovered from diseased A. vera leaves, and 37 isolates were identified as belonging to the genus Fusarium. On the basis of morphological characteristics and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of rDNA amplified using the primers ITS4/ITS5 the pathogen was identified as Fusarium proliferatum (Matsushima) Nirenberg and pathogenicity of the isolate was confirmed by using Koch’s postulates. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of leaf spot disease caused by Fusarium proliferatum on A. vera plants in India.

The rainfall and temperatures are the most important parameters among the atmosphere as these parameters decide the ecological situation of the specific area, which affects the agricultural productivity. The temperature, and rainfall trends are analysed for meteorological data of Automatic Weather Station (AWS), was installed September 2009 with 22 meteorological parameters in the Department of Rural Technology, HNB Garhwal, University, Srinagar Garhwal, and Uttarakhand. In the study assess the seven-year change in temperature and rainfall has been examination by linear tread analysis. It is observed that in velley of Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand, coefficient of variation for mean temperature for Srinagar Garhwal Valley is highest in the month of February and lowest in the month of August. This means that mean temperature is most stable in the month of August and total monthly rainfall observed highest in the month of November and minimum for the month of July. This shows that rainfall is more stable in the month of July and is more variable in the month of November for the Valley.

Opis:
In this paper, a cuckoo search algorithm based on the combined characteristics of the brood parasite behavior and Levy flights is applied to correct the radiation pattern of a linear antenna array composed of parallel dipoles with faulty elements. An effort is made to restore the radiation pattern similar to one without any faulty elements, and the difference in the values of side lobe level and wide null depth of both patterns, as well as the voltage standing wave ratio obtained from the new voltage excitations become diminished. The examples presented in this paper show the effectiveness of this algorithm in correcting the radiation pattern of a linear array of 36 and 120 dipole antennas with four and ten failed elements, respectively. The results show that the matching condition and the wide null control produced by Cuckoo Search algorithm are more efficient in comparison with the benchmark failure correction algorithm. The approach adopted herein may be applied to other array configurations as well.

An enzyme-assisted modified steam distillation process was adopted to extract turmeric oil from Curcuma longa L. rhizomes. The diastase, xylose, cellulase, pectinase, and lipase enzymes were used for the pre-treatment of fresh turmeric rhizome to obtain a higher yield by rapturing biological cells. The quantitative and qualitative analysis of turmeric oil was performed by GC–MS. The various influencing parameters for the extraction of turmeric oil such as an enzyme, incubation/pre-treatment time, distillation time have been studied in the present work. The obtained turmeric oil by enzymatic pretreatment process is richer in bioactive/medicinal components than in the other traditional methods. The maximum yield was obtained with cellulase enzyme, which is 25–27% higher than the yield obtained by the traditional hydro distillation process. The detailed qualitative and quantitative analyses are also presented. The present method can be considered energy-efficient, effective, economical, and eco-friendly.
